Their perception of Sonic is permanently coloured by Archie. They are mindbroken by it. They cannot imagine Sonic outside of the context of archie's depiction of Sonic. They are attached to Archie primarily because of nostalgia. Not its actual merits as a work of fiction. They desire for others to enjoy the version of Sonic they grew up with because they're selfish and nostalgic, much like Adventure era Sonic fans.
