That trend is just millennial cope. They are aging, which they thought they would be immune to because they are immature, don't want to have children and want to have funko pop collections instead. Their interests are absolutely incompatible with maturity so they'll probably be the most insecure generation insofar when it comes to aging, and to cope they have to say to themselves "hey, but gen Z is aging faster".
