No, being contained inside a dungeon means that someone that doesn't want to interact with the crossover can completely ignore it, which is a good design.
What should have been added was a better selection of Terraria monsters, being able to capture the monsters and use them like this sounded so cool, and it is, but man I wish we got cooler options.
