Well guys, I managed to kill BoC on get fixed boi. Now I just need to kill EoW to get the worm scarf, find the aether, and then prepare a Skeletron arena.
I forgot just how much Demon Scythe melts everything.

I'm sorry Terraria lovers, I just couldn't stomach it anymore. Sometime around the 3 mecha bosses (that I couldn't defeat) the game burned me out extremely. I couldn't do anything in base anymore without getting harrassed by invasions, having to micromanage my inventory all the time, and being incapable of harming the skull mecha thing. Every invasion just takes way too long. I got sick of it.

Okay, so in character creation there are options to copy and paste character templates, but how do I get a template from an existing character?
Like say I want to duplicate an earlier character with minor changes.

For the inventory, it definitely helps to pick up every chest you find while exploring (or just craft them, they're cheap and iron is everywhere), and slap down a bunch of them in a dedicated storage room in your base. There's an option to rename the chest when you're in its inventory so that you can kinda get a basic sorting system going, and you can just hit the auto-stack button located at the bottom-right of your inventory to dump your inventory directly into your chests when you come back to base. You can alt+click items in your inventory to favorite them, so that they don't get sucked into your storage chests.
I also highly recommend crafting the Void Bag, as it gives you a 2nd inventory. If your normal inventory is full, any new items you run over will be sucked into your void bag

Unfortunately I don't think you can just using in-game tools, you would've had to have made a template beforehand. That said, I think you can grab the exact colors from an existing character if you upload that character save into the inventory editor in the OP:

I've hosted a server for this general once, and yeah it basically went like that. It was still pretty fun though. I remember I accidentally doxxed myself because I posted the wrong IP in the thread, it was my first time ever hosting a server myself, lol.

The Reaver Shark being literally the best Pre-Hardmode pickaxe was dumb, but it shouldn't have been nerfed to below Demonite. Now, unless you spawn on the beach with a fishing rod and bait, it may as well not exist.

I like that it's basically a temu bone pickaxe, and it's easy to equip a whole multiplayer server with them as long as you have one person doing fishing. The only thing the evil picks have over it is that they can mine niche blocks like obsidian, fossils, or evilstone, but it's more efficient to bomb those anyway. As for hellstone, you're better off carrying a hellforge and anvil with you, and crafting a molten pick ASAP to mine the rest of your hellstone.

Personally I like obsidian skin potion + spelunker potion + mining potion, and those can all be made with common materials.

Oh yeah, you don't need to fight them, just need to escape them, obsidian potion opens up that opportunity, the gravedigger's shovel (which can be gotten on hardcore by sacrificing npcs for gravestones) can be used to quickly mine ash, then some blocks in your hotbar.

Human maximum ability is to manage around 4 hotkey binds. Which are changing, which should be near your movement keys 1,2,3,4 slots.

Then incase you're going to die, which is likely always keep recall potions because you drink them faster than magic mirror and you get quite a decent amount of them from chests.

All this advice should put you in the ultimate level, but you'll probably only be able to implement the potions one. Hey get that nightmare pickaxe.

Helpful Hotkeys will prevent any other mod from allowing you to tab out without pausing the game in single player. I don't know why, but that's the case. So, if you want both a selection of useful hotkeys AND the ability to avoid pausing when tabbing out in single player, then swap over to multiplayer. If your world/mod pack doesn't load in multiplayer, then you need to either disable Helpful Hotkeys or the mod/mod option that prevents pausing in single player. Just posting this in case anyone else has a similar issue. I know one guy mentioned it yesterday.

troubleshooting mods is such a pain in the ass sometimes. A couple of weeks ago I did a modded world with a buddy of mine and we were legit troubleshooting our mod loadout for like 3 hours before we finally started the world. Turned out there were a bunch of outdated versions of some of the mods we were using, but they weren't updating because the new versions of the mods were listed as their own entities in the browser.

I pretty much never play in a long term world - the only time I've ever stuck with a world for very long after Moon Lord was on my first vanilla run. That doesn't mean you can't build some dope stuff while you're in that world, though. I wasted like 2 days building an airship in my last modded world and I've already moved on to a new vanilla run. I guess I can understand why people wouldn't want to waste a lot of time building from a world they're gonna move on from eventually, but it's never really been something that I cared about all that much, I can always revisit old builds as long as I have the world files, and I tend to take a lot of pictures anyways

We've beaten it already 3 or 4 times, in master mode, but we haven't touched it since it came out, and it's been 2 years

Now we're gonna play with some mods.

TLDR: Recommend me some mods to play with.

can also add thorium to it if you wish, adds more classes and some more content.
fun for 2 players. Best on master mode.
if you want post moon lord content and major changes to all boss ais, play calamity instead. don't play calamity on master, do expert + revengence or expert + death if you want more challenge. Calamity is much more fun singleplayer and much much more fun with Infernum (singleplayer only) but it's ok in multiplayer too.
In either case I'd recommend avoiding 'qol' mods as much as possible if you want a longer, more laidback playthrough.
Mount and Journey is an incredibly soulful mod and I would recommend it to everyone.

calamity is a good mod imo, but it's not really great for multiplayer because of optimization issues, at least in my experience. It also has some pretty steep learning curves that I feel make multiplayer progression frustrating in some cases - calamity bosses are very clearly not designed to be fought in multiplayer, especially for a time playing the mod. It is super frustrating trying to learn dodging timing while the enemy is changing aggro and not even focusing on you half the time. I am probably one of the most die hard calamity fans in this general, I even like their shitty lore, but this is what I'd tell him. remnants is fucking trash, what are you doing? I guess I can't talk, I literally just stan'd for calameme

Lol if you tried it with calameme it absolutely breaks, even says so on the workshop page. Frankly it took me 3 tries to even generate a world with remnants on with only compatible mods listed, hard crashed once and soft crashed another time, praying for it to not permafuck the world randomly sometime down the line. I fully intend to give it a shot one day, but I'll give it its own run and only run it with a few QoL mods like magic storage and recipe browser.

I can possibly confirm that it means true surface as well. I just the dirt fish quest from the Angler (surface and underground) and in my true surface pool (way above the evil but not at space) I fished it up. Though it may only be because the game considers it as “underground” for some reason (don’t dig up shenanigans o algo).

they removed stuff directly related to him and repurposed / redid anything that had function. So all the things the NPC use to sell can be obtained elsewhere, certain weapons are renamed (Ozzathoth for example), etc.

I literally did not notice anything missing on my last playthrough outside of the single NPC, which I didn't care for anyways.

Also, they didn't kick him - they didn't have to. He left on his own because even he understood how monumental of a fuck up it was.

I tried building these houses in my last playthrough. Some of them turned out alot uglier than I had hoped. Like the butterfly just does not look good no matter how I tried to do it. at the end of the day I just alternate between mono-pitch, curved, mansard, saltbox, sometimes Gambrel for the shroom guy. set up a basic hoik above the destination teleporter so that it offloads new arrivals instantly, to prevent them being teleporter back to the entrance. a basic blockswap hoik with platforms like the one used for cheesing the old one's army should work

offset the entrance teleporter from your wall by one block instead of having it be pressed up against it, so that the enemies don't clip through, or make your wall double thick
