I graduated with a Physics degree about 20 years ago, and from what I've heard about the current state of research, I'm glad I didn't pursue a PhD
The people who control the money have their own little pet theories, and no matter how many times it's shown to be wrong, they still funnel money to it and leave the rest begging for scraps
And don't get me started on science journalism, which has its own set of problems
The Chorizo incident is a great example of it, but every fucking day my newsfeed has some bullshit clickbait "The universe is really X!" headline and it never is what they say it is
