The fantasy setting was good, the plastic dudes game was not. At least in the sense that getting into it meant a massive painting hurdle just to get started.
Little to no new blood meant the game was doomed sales-wise, especially when even back then there were a lot of grogs that would stick to their 15 year old infantry models and not buy much. At least now as a specialist game it might be more free from sales targets at can just stick to its dedicated audience without management breathing down its neck.
