If I were ever to make a video game, it would be a turn based JRPG with real time elements, high fidelity visual presentation and stunning cinematics.
It would have a unique visual style that is realistic but surreal, edgy, defined by a fantastical world that isn't entirely what it seems to be.
It would have an overworld map to traverse, where your character and the world is approximately sized like a miniature.
You would approach each areas approximations on the overworld and then transport into the field to fully explore it.
You will travel and explore the world on land, by air, and by sea with a vehicle.
There will be traversal obstacles as well as areas that can only be reached with the airship I mean vehicle.
It would feature an important characters death to signify a transition in the story.
It would have sweeping orchestral music filled with pianos, female vocals, experimental jazz and rock tracks, electronic and funk elements.
It would have bold character themes that relate the unique emotions of each character to play at specific moments.
It would have female party members front and center who are complex and dynamic.
It would have a Blue Mage in the party who learns Enemy Skills.
It would have all of the basic elemental systems, it would have status ailments like slow/stop/poison/shock etc etc.
It would have a turn order in the UI on the side of the screen.
Lots and lots of different weapons for each character that tie in with unique mechanics as well as allow for endless build variety.
It would have a skill equipment system that allows you to customize each character individually
After mastering a skill you can then equip it using a points resource without using up the item slot so that you can equip something else.
The story and scene direction would be top tier. It would have melodrama around every corner, teenage angst, and heart breaking melancholy.
The ending would be bitter sweet and would have the entire gaming world talking about it for years.
