Yes but it only sucked to the extent that it wasn't very enjoyable to read. These days it sucks to the point of actively detracting from the rest of the experience. Such as aesthetics, atmosphere and setting.

In fact the only thing that doesn't suffer because of the abysmally cucked writers is the gameplay. I don't need the story to be some 10/10 masterpiece. I just need it to not start bleeding the writer's thinly veiled political beliefs into it.
