Yes. People get so mixed up about this stuff. They realise they have been lied to and they drop their filter for the things the powers that be reject.
Fomenko has done some superb research on the real Tartaria. A real place in the Middle Ages.
People mix that up with the world empire/culture that predates Jesus or the Tenth Century Collapse or the mysterious events of the 13th Century AD. The dating goes all screwy unfortunately, making anything from 650BC to 1300AD arguably the same century for all we can sure of. The Age of Gods and Wonders. And seemingly enough static electricity in the air to work with.
