The same dynamic that prevents old school forum culture to prevail in the open - people that enjoy breaking stuff other people enjoy just for the sake of taking their joy away.

I've experienced it multiple times and would otherwise feel bad for those fuckers that act this way for they don't know (and never will) the joy that building something together with other people can bring you. Even (especially) if it is only something meaningless like a niche online forum.

I hate watching TV. My gf gets annoyed if I make funny quips about the hallmark movie I'm making an effort to tolerate. She gets really annoyed when I read a book while she watches.
