they had a chance to make demons interesting, like they're some sort of Chinese Room that just parrots human speech believably, without actual comprehending it. but they communicate with each other using speech and sip tea out of cups like proper nobles and all the rest that ruins it.
in short the demons are really poorly planned/introduced in the show and are just not interesting. i don't give a damn about them because it's so inconsistent.
