If you haven't spent a meaningful amount of time either living in America or among Americans (or at least observing them), it's hard to understand how Americans work.
The basic principle of American society is insecurity, in no small part stemming from the childhood trauma of getting their dick mutilated. Everything stems from this.

This explains a lot of their behaviors. They build massive houses and cars with paper and gum because the point is to APPEAR rich and strong (the cars in particular compensate for the mutilated penis). They work themselves to death for their corporation and defend it because they think it makes them rich and powerful by association. They are glib and overly social because they've been shown on TV that's what well adjusted successful people are.

Perfect example, his shitty truck probably has 2cm gaps between the panels and the engineering quality of a Brazilian favela, but what matters to him is that it's big because Americans at their core are incredibly insecure.
