Yes, and that's the point being made: HD2 Super Earth is not even close to as evil as the first game's government, and yet all we fucking get are le fascism slapstick gags instead of a provocative and thoughtful plot. They took a fuck ton of narrative potential and threw it in the garbage.

I really gotta challenge that, because even Nazi Germany was not particularly "militarist." Hitler's control manifested through the SS, which was a distinctly different organization from the Wehrmacht. In fact, the Wehrmacht enacted a coup after attempting to kill Hitler and arrested the SS. The assassination attempt failed though so the coup was ultimately unsuccessful and most of its conspirators were executed.

Governance by the military and veterans is more accurately described as a Stratocracy, and is not necessarily authoritarian in the conventional sense of the idea. Stratocracies can be composed of an assembly, various military ministries, and a chief executive not unlike a Republic.

Reminder that every derivative work of Starship Troopers that doesn't have any respect for the original novel will always be a paper thin creatively bankrupt piece of slop that will never be able to maintain itself in the long run. Same goes for derivatives of HP Lovecraft. The very people who convince themselves Heinlein was fascist and Lovecraft was racist are incapable of being even half as creative as either of those men and their work will never amount to anything but a gussied up rip-off.

Anybody who thinks Helldivers themselves are bad guys is a certified NPC. Super Earth being fucked up does not indict its entire population.
