Of course I want my game to be super popular, and I will do everything in my power to make it popular, however that's not even a real design goal. It's more like a constraint, by needing to be popular, I am limited in certain ways of what I can do. But the actual passion comes from conveying messages to the game audience. If that communication occurs it's a win. Your job as a game designer is to convey the message to the audience
