another thing is that imsims have a kitchen sink approach to design. take system shock 1 something as basic as a nitropack can lead to unique scenarios where you can combine them with landmines to cause bigger damage to cortex reavers. combine that with hostile enemies pursuing you and you get a dramatic moment.
in ch 2 there was a bit of emergent gameplay i liked. i ran out of health items at one point. but i figured out if you continually graze a Tasque attack you get easy TP. do this constantly to have ralsei heal the party without items. when i found this out it was incredibly satisfying and my most memorable experience in ch 2.
i'd love for later chapters to lean into this.
