That would help, especially to prevent something like the absolute fucking dickery that was Sony blocking Omega Labyrinth Z right as it was ready to ship, but I'm not sure it'd be a definitive solution.

It's arguably the same path Sony followed. It started with rejections and censorship of games in the west (Omega Labyrinth Z, Senran Kagura Burst ReNewal) and then spread to Japanese releases as well. Only Nintendo took longer to start applying the same standards to JP releases, but it was obvious these standards weren't going to remain just for the west. Company culture is clearly hostile to the very existence of these games and their associated subculture. Globalism demands otakus and their culture dead or humiliated.

Sony is not going to fucking reverse course unless legislation is brought against them. Neither is Nintendo. They've made their choice, they hate anime, they hate fanservice, it "damages their brand". And because they control the console industry, no one can make these games on consoles any more. You're here trying to fearmonger about government censorship while I'm telling you about the very real and measurable impact of private censorship. Which you continue to downplay and insist is less impactful than government censorship. Fuck, at least you can challenge and contest rulings. You can't contest Sony/Nintendo/Valve telling you "Nope, we won't host your game". Just like you can't contest VISA/Mastercard telling you "Nope, we won't process your transaction". At least there's some tiny measure of accountability with actual laws. There is precisely ZERO accountability with these corporations. Remember the great Omega Labyrinth Z rugpull? The fact that Sony was allowed to get away with that without PQube suing them into the ground proves our current legal framework surrounding corporate platforms and their powers is seriously, deeply flawed.

They literally did. Killed the whole western release, and if it hadn't already released in Japan before all this, they would have killed it there too. Now it's a Japan-only game with no translation and Omega Labyrinth died and its developer folded after one more entry (that got neutered to oblivion on Playstation).

>(or rather, anyone seeking to dump money on fanservice is on gacha now)
Because the retail industry has been telling them to fuck off since 2018.

Whose choice was this, then?

But not Japanese ecchi games, because California cultural commissars went into the major game companies and ensured they don't have a platform anywhere.

Sony themselves told them they weren't allowed to release it in the West, despite having the appropriate Western age ratings approved.
Days later Sony confirmed in interviews they put new policies in place designed to stop games like this from releasing ever again, EVEN IN Japan. Specifically citing #MeToo

THIS WAS ALL LEFT DRIVEN
THEY'RE ASKING QUITE A FUCKING LOT FOR FORGIVENESS AND THEY CAN GO CHOKE ON IT. WE'RE NEVER GETTING ECCHI GAMES BACK.

I don't PQube/D3 ever tried to put Omega Labyrinth Z on Steam/PC. They basically just gave up on it completely after Snoy killed the PS releases.
