O Lord, rebuke me not in Thine anger, nor chasten me in Thy wrath. For Thine arrows are fastened in me, and Thou hast laid Thy hand heavily upon me. There is no healing in my flesh in the face of Thy wrath; and there is no peace in my bones in the face of my sins. For mine iniquities are risen higher than my head; as a heavy burden have they pressed heavily upon me. My bruises are become noisome and corrupt in the face of my folly. I have been wretched and utterly bowed down until the end; all the day long I went with downcast face. For my loins are filled with mockings, and there is no healing in my flesh. I am afflicted and humbled exceedingly, I have roared from the groaning of my heart. O Lord, before Thee is all my desire, and my groaning is not hid from Thee. My heart is troubled, my strength hath failed me; and the light of mine eyes, even this is not with me. My friends and my neighbours drew nigh over against me and stood, and my nearest of kin stood afar off. And they that sought after my soul used violence; and they that sought evils for me spake vain things, and craftiness all the day long did they meditate. But as for me, like a deaf man I heard them not, and was as a speechless man that openeth not his mouth. And I became as a man that heareth not, and that hath in his mouth no reproofs. For in Thee have I hoped, O Lord; Thou wilt hearken unto me, O Lord my God. For I said: Let never mine enemies rejoice over me; yea, when my feet were shaken, those men spake boastful words against me. For I am ready for scourges, and my sorrow is continually before me. For I will declare mine iniquity, and I will take heed concerning my sin. But mine enemies live and are made stronger than I, and they that hated me unjustly are multiplied. They that render me evil for good slandered me, because I pursued goodness. Forsake me not, O Lord my God, depart not from me. Be attentive unto my help, O Lord of my salvation.

For His mercy endures forever

>Now, one who would speak or hear about God should know beyond any doubt that in what concerns theology and the Dispensation not all things are inexpressible and not all are capable of expression, and neither are all things unknowable nor are they all knowable. That which can be known is one thing, whereas that which can be said is another, just as it is one thing to speak and another to know. Furthermore, many of those things about God which are not clearly perceived cannot be fittingly described, so that we are obliged to express in human terms things which transcend the human order. Thus, for example, in speaking about God we attribute to Him sleep, anger, indifference, hands and feet, and the alike.
>Now, we both know and confess that God is without beginning and without end, everlasting and eternal, uncreated, unchangeable, inalterable, simple, uncompounded, incorporeal, invisible, impalpable, uncircumscribed, unlimited, incomprehensible, uncontained, unfathomable, good, just, the maker of all created things, all-powerful, all-ruling, all-seeing, the provider, the sovereign, and the judge of all.

Christ called people hypocrites. Whether or not I hurt your feelings does not change the fact that you are indeed a coward, scared of interacting with ideas and insecure of your own worldview.

I appreciate you. Not just in this thread but your posts throughout and on occasion that I see. I will say to you that it has always been the Christian understanding that, since the Church is the Body of Christ, that if you want the full Jesus Christ, you must also find Him in the Church as well, in all its members. Christians are people who are "in Christ" and to be in Christ is to be Baptized into His Body, of which there is only One Body (St Paul's Epistle to the Church in Ephesus, Ch 4:4-6) which is the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, the Orthodox Church.

The Orthodox Church doesn't hold to that view.
Here is a useful article from our Metropolitan to give some history about the subject.

Catholics can't answer this question.
As an Orthodox Christian, my priest says that if the Metropolitan starts spouting heresy, our parish won't go along with it.
The Metropolitan says that if the Patriarch starts spouting heresy, then the Archdiocese of North America won't go along with it.

has worked for 2000 years and our Church, the true Church, isn't gay as aids.

Shut up fag, you're not that special. You are right with this thread that the sagrada familia is evil and demonically inspired. Don't take that too far in the opposite direction though.

As an Orthodox Christian, I grieve your distorted view of history—a narrative that ignores both the essence of Christ’s Church and the witness of Her saints. Let me respond with truth:

On "Oppressive Regimes"
Yes, earthly rulers *misused* Christ’s name for power—a sin condemned by the Church herself. When emperors like Julian the Apostate or Communists persecuted us, or when kings twisted faith for control, the *true Church* resisted. St. John Chrysostom was exiled for rebuking Empress Eudoxia’s excesses. St. Maximus the Confessor had his tongue cut for defying a heretical emperor. The Kingdom we serve is *not of this world* (John 18:36).

The Church Built on Martyrs, Not Thrones
For 2,000 years, the Church thrived *without* state power—often under persecution. Roman arenas, Ottoman jizya, Soviet gulags… yet the blood of martyrs *watered the faith*. When stripped of "governmental backing" in the 20th century, Russia’s Catacomb Church *grew*—proving Christ’s promise: "*The gates of hell shall not prevail*" (Matt. 16:18). Our "authority" is the Cross, not crowns.

Who Truly "Suppressed Dissent"?
Atheist regimes murdered 100 million in the 20th century alone. Meanwhile, the Orthodox Church birthed universities, hospitals, and the very concept of *mercy*. St. Basil the Great founded the first homeless shelter. St. Seraphim of Sarov fed bears from his hand. Our "dogma" is love: "*Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life*" (John 15:13).

The Irony of "Moralizing Cowards"
You scorn us as "useful idiots"—yet we outlasted every empire that hunted us. Nero’s Rome? Ash. Soviet gulags? Closed. We remain, chanting the *same Liturgy* as St. John in Patmos. Why? Because "*we do not wrestle against flesh and blood*" (Eph. 6:12). Our weapon is prayer, our fortress the Eucharist—and this terrifies tyrants.

Where Chaos Reigns, Christ Answers
You sneer at "chaos" as freedom—but Christ offers true liberation* from sin. Atheism gave us genocide.
