Some of those old games were so intentionally obscure; having the magazine to go along with it was almost a requirement at times. There was a LOT of “use this pixel at this random pixel” shit with no in game clues otherwise.

It’s amazing when you can have a passion you’re collecting just for the personal and emotional value - and ALSO know that it’s retaining. (And increasing) in actual value. Most collectibles just sit on a shelf. Gaming is cool because it’s one of the few things you can collect and actually do something with, as in, play it.
