I don't think The Player being simultaneously The Angel and a demonic figure is a contradiction, Deltarune is exactly the kind of game that would play around with that dichotomy. Undertale already did something similar with its version of The Legend of Delta Rune, where The Angel was seen as both a savior and an "Angel of Death" that would kill everyone (which is pretty much exactly how our role in the game plays out)/
