He's clearly got some deeper motivations in chapter 4 that he keeps hidden because he feels it would be harmful to kris/toriel. Not to mention the weird meta stuff in other chaps like the soul colored flowers, conspicuous double doors, the egg fridge. Not all of that might be important but it is suspicious. He'll have his time for sure, it's just a matter of what his role will be. He's probably been working to some end in the past couple chapters.
