False, Sonic doesn't look for people to stroke his ego. In case you forgot, Sonic does not care what people think of him. Positive or negative, it doesn't matter.
And, what fifteen year old do you know is continuously traveling around the globe experiencing everything life has to offer? Your concept of what Sonic is, is simply irreconcilable with what Sonic is actually like. Open your eyes, man.
Sonic the Hedgehog owns the Tornado, that is HIS biplane, and he uses it to travel all over the world in search of adventure. He lives completely freely, detached from all worldly concerns like a Tibetan monk, all while being some punk rock teenager who plays by no rules but his own. He's been to every continent, experienced every culture and tasted all different kinds of food, can probably speak any language, and spends his never ending vacation living life to the fullest and experiencing insane thrills just because that's what he enjoys. People from all over have seen him defeat evil and save lives, save the whole world on numerous occasions... Yet what does Sonic say when asked about what he is?
>What you see is what you get. Just a guy that loves adventure. I'm Sonic the Hedgehog!
He's just some guy living his life, yet everyone he's met knows that he is way more than that.
To suggest that he's just some retarded 15 year old, with no wisdom to speak of... completely ignores the entire character in question. Think about what it would mean to actually be Sonic the Hedgehog, for a second. Think about the massive gap in knowledge and experience between you and him. Sonic is wise because anyone in his shoes would be.
