I think it genuinely comes from your belief in the sense that you manifest your afterlife. For instance if you believe what everyone else believes you go to that afterlife and join them but say you are agnostic and have a completely seperate idea you go to that afterlife completely alone. Its not anything evil I just think that what we define as God has made it this way. Then again, there may also be some valid arguements for reincarnation such as people having knowledge from past lives or those moments of deja vu.

There are inherent truths to this world that we do not have proof of. We can spend time to learn about them or develop the tools to identify and measure them. Until then, we are allowed to discuss the mechanisms of a concept while attempting to truly understand the concept.
