It is 100% a solo game. You can co-op with a buddie but it's by no means a necessity. I played it with a friend for a while, but even to this day, I prefer playing it solo.

I am skeptical but Wildlands is one of my favorite games from the recent past, so I am excited to see what this game will be like.
