He is deliberately larping btw, even in the story he sometimes doubles the larp by becoming another "character" instead of "shadow" such as "John Smith" or "Mundane Mann" and he thinks other people are in on it. He was making some master swordsman girl job second guess themselves by standing still while pretending to be a retard when he was in the latter disguise.
