I'm neither of the two and I've received an increased scholarship for my academic efforts though I write like complete shit in my articles, sentence-takes-half-a-page-tier shit. However, I actually use this style when talking to a prof who taught me because it's just the optimal way of talking to someone who isn't your "Dear Anon, I've come to inform you" mentor but isn't your "haha check this shit" close friend either. Concise and short points so they don't get bored, proper spacing to segregate your topics, maybe throw in a couple of emojis too so that the tone isn't too grave because Internet. Had to figure it out myself, but it's just a good way of talking.
