Sprint ceremony meetings are going to drive me to do something very irrational.
>want to quit
>switch to "open to work" on li
>didn't even put the dumb banner, only recruiters can see me
>already 2 recruiter chicks 7am the next day
>they both asked me if I'm familiar with microservices
Fucking hell I'm just gonna lie about it next time. They both had the exact same questions:
>docker? kubernetes? cloud? microservices? backend framework?
I don't think anything will ever come out of this shit, but it is worth a try. I will have to give up on 3 remote days and lower it to 2 which sucks.
>in a call with coworkers
>on company VPN, dns for this one specific internal domain isnt working

>probably, let me try disabling it
>10.0.0.1
>Fortigate login logo appears
>log in to a Fortigate 60F
>coworkers are confused
Not even at 3 YoE and this shit is consuming my soul already. I blame boomers and women.
I wish I could have a prompt that pops up when someone messages or emails me saying "motherfucker I'm not clairvoyant, actually go into detail on what your problem is"
>>105848760Surely outlook has something to that affect. The real cause of the problem is the work experience. I have far to many people who want less details from me then not. Often times they say "get to the point" but when i send it up to more senior people i have to give them everything and anything related to the problem or they will outright ignore it/delete it as some minor issue.

>>105848958I quit my last job because I ended up with a jeet manager after a reorg. He lied constantly and undermined me at meetings and I got sick of it.
>>105848429 (OP)Had a checkup at the company, see how I am doing, get feedback and see if I have any problems or issues that might nag on me.
I think I am gonna apply to them after my retraining is completed.
Sadly, I am not quite sure what this new position is gonna be called, so I will most likely just prepare what makes sense and find out the rest as I get into more talks.
Kinda weird that after 5-10 years of bad luck and good deeds met with punishments I might actually look forward to work with them.
Nonetheless I kinda fucked myself for being more interested into automation and programming to the point the company has split my time up to serve three lords that pay in knowledge and training.
System administration, development (automation/full-stack) and help desk while getting crushed by school classes and cert training.
I hope I can do it and have a degree at the end, because they really only acknowledge you for your papers and then look into your skillsets.
>Inb4 what you use there.Angular, c#, powershell and some Infrastructure as code.
I just hope I find opportunities for projects that are relevant to my actual training (integrating systems, hands on. Project management, as expanded and well documented as possible for further project introduction and defence) and I can pass it.

Hey Saars Im currently working as an IT jack of all trades for a company only casual but they give me as much hours as I want and I pretty much set my own routine. Downside of job is commuting to office and working with people who have been there 20 years and set in their ways. I have just been offered a job with a company offering full time WFH with the pitch that they are getting rid of their MSP and moving to internal IT. The downside/upside is that they have no procedures so would be starting from scratch. Thoughts?
>>105849793No procedures means you can be the boomer in your company and set up everything the way you want it to.

The other day some c-suite retard yelled at service desk for 30 minutes refusing to troubleshoot afterhours and demanding a call Immediately in the morning, which got dumped on my plate, when I reached out to her first thing as requested, she tried to schedule a meeting with me like 11 hours later and then complained formally directly to the CTO when I told her my shift would already be over by that time, her problem btw was she had accidentally deleted a single item from her sent in Outlook, and was sperging out about how it had "mysteriously disappeared"
>>105848958Because what modern 4chan needs is even more talking about indians.

Like 3.5 years ago I was doing interviews with a large company (DXC).
> First round with direct hiring manager, white competent guy early 40s with cs master degree> Talk and tech screening / experience / discussion follows> Eventually point towards the recent pile of negative reviews the company has been getting> Guy says ''yes they're mostly foreign workers but we in the Netherlands get treated a lot better since we're high income workers''. > "If you come work for us you will also likely get a team of Indians to support you and the clients, you can shift work to them and are expected to evaluate their work''.> If you don't like their work, you can make a complaint and we can fire that person rapidly. > "At DXC we are a globalist, that means that we employ people from low income countries and we don't need to treat them as well'' (literal translated quote) > This is normal for and expected for any company our size I was invited for a second interview with a senior solutions architect who held... similar views on the poojeet slave labor. He was also very proud that he bullied the previous manager to the point he quit. At the time they were hesitant to make an offer while I had received one from a big bank that was higher than their range so I went with the bank but if I were to work there I would've probably had countless jeet stories lmao. Know that if you hire DXC consultants that you hire 1 US or European guy to be on site that off loads the project to 10-20 jeets. Enjoy wasting millions on jeetware :D
>>105849563Except itโs none of those things, itโs some bed bug ridden no-AC Byzantine era ex-slave den thatโs still haunted by the screams of peasants from centuries past. >>105850136>>people still buy their products because they're stupidIt works until it doesn't. Look at how Sonos was absolutely raped and people kept buying their stuff for years and then one day everything just imploded.
If you're careful you can trade on this but you have to have years of trading normally and being able to understand financial statements and large scale corporate coordination problems + years of working in the industry + the ability to be cold and emotionless with huge amounts of money you worked hard for so most people effectively can't.
I'm honestly tempted to just buy long dated TQQQ puts desu. So much of the industry is completely fucked.
Are there cute girls at your workplace? My office is full of old people and all the women are married, post-wall hags. I work in manufacturing so maybe its different for tech nigas

>>105850379I live in the silicon valley. Back when I was still using dating apps a few years ago, I remember thinking it was weird that even though there are tens of thousands of single 20-something women working at FAANG, I basically never matched with techies. Oddly enough, I mostly matched with artists or musicians. These women were mostly fun to be around and weren't looking for anything serious, which I appreciated. We'd hook up on the first date and then be open to hooking up later or even just hanging out.
The one time that I did match with a techie, she brought up marriage less than a few minutes into our first meetup. She also wanted to know my NW. We did eventually hook up but she didn't want me to touch her, pull her hair, or do anything. She wanted to be on top and just wanted me to sit there. After that, when started texting me constantly and would send manic schizoposts to me whenever I wouldn't reply for a few hours.
"High value" women are oftentimes more of a nightmare to deal with than starving artists with colored hair and septum piercings. I'm in a happy relationship of about 2 years now, but she works in health care, not tech. Most of the 20-something 2omen at my current job are married and have at least one kid. One of them keeps having them and has been AWOL for 14 months over the past two years, which kinda makes me wonder why she keeps getting promoted.
>>105850509>She wanted to be on top and just wanted me to sit there. After that, when started texting me constantly and would send manic schizoposts to me whenever I wouldn't reply for a few hours.I swear there are a number of women I've met like this who probably can't reproduce without actually being raped. When I was younger I used to think they just didn't like me but the older I get the more realize most women are actually just insane and get away with it because most men stop thinking when they see them.
>>105850509>The one time that I did match with a techie, she brought up marriage less than a few minutes into our first meetup. It makes sense, she's got a tech "big girl job" so the money part of her life is taken care of, so she doesn't need to actually please a man. So her brain went completely fucking haywire, since her biological prerogative was no longer needed.
>>105850540In general women are socialized to be more open about their emotions. You're right that in the worst case, the outcome is an emotional mess. The inverse is the weird pseudo-stoicism that men are taught. Both of these extremes are retarded.
>>105850550The thing I appreciated about the non-tech women I've dated is that they don't feel entitled to my time or attention. In my experience and from what I've heard from friends, women in tech can hear their biological clock ticking at all times and think everybody is on the same page and looking to get married and have kids and buy a house within the next few months. If I ended up single again, the last place I'd look for dates is techies because holy shit.
>>105849671My new employer is small and the closest thing we have to a non-white person is a slav and he's a great guy
>>105850702>women in tech can hear their biological clock ticking at all times and think everybody is on the same page and looking to get married and have kids and buy a house within the next few months. If I ended up single again, the last place I'd look for dates is techies because holy shit.I was actually like this in my teens and early 20s because I came from a Christian background so most of the people I knew (my age and the last generation) would get married super young.
Of course my female peers didn't want to date a guy in his 20s in college or starting out in their career, it drove me nuts and I over corrected and slept with dozens of Tinder girls. Now I'm in my 30s and they'll seriously talk to me but I hate the idea of marrying a stranger this late in life so I don't really pay attention anymore.
The whole dating thing is completely fucked.
>>105848833He actually had a negative track record with the WorldCoin nonsense.
just be Jewish lmao
>>105849563none of it is necessarily bad yeah. not everyone needs a big house or luxury bullshit. but you should be able to choose to some degree and have options for getting ahead and earning more than others. there seems to be very little avenues for doing that in europe, and a lot of them just involve being in government and money changing. americans are getting fucked hard too but its like twice as bad in a lot of europe.
ive had european friends online who chose to never work a day in their lives, and had everything paid for by welfare, including top of the line computer hardware. at a certain point, it doesnt seem like theres enough material gain from working in nordic countries. so many americans fetishisize european economic and social policies but have no clue how expensive all the shit is. denmark and sweden have like literally 55% tax rates and the cost of living is just as expensive in a lot of places in US
its scary how popular the views are getting with "we should just do what [nordic country] does" not knowing anything about those countries. theyre not idle sentiments either people are actually voting. like people voted full on drug decriminalization in portland and were surprised to find out nobody's quality of life improves when you have unstable violent tweakers, bartards, and lying opiate addicts running around unabated. i bet a large chunk of those voters were influenced by hearing half-information about portugal decriminalization in the early 2000s
its all futile anyway i dont know why i care at all
>>105850802Hey now not everyone knows pytorch. Certainly not in 2018.

I wouldn't have to stress over retirement though if it was more universally taken care of. Or at least I could invest purely for consumption in retirement. I dunno, my American salary sometimes feels like it's not doing that much for me. I'm probably fucked if I get cancer.

That doesn't change the fact that the median American is making about 1/4th of what I make, and they are either uninsured or have crap insurance that won't save them from being in debt for the rest of their life if they end up getting cancer.

>>105852566Reddit spacing isn't double spacing paragraphs, it's doing a single linefeed after ever sentence. Professional writers tend to write like that because it helps them see the rythm of what they've written more clearly and Reddit hides it so they don't clean it up before posting. In 2015-2019 when the same sockpuppeting that was done on Reddit was tried here people noticed it and called *that* reddit spacing.

Guys I need some serious help/advice. This is the situation:
I'm a trainee about to transfer to a new team. I received an invite from someone higher up to join the new team's daily standups and I accepted.
So I join one of these meetings (over MS Teams), I didn't announce myself or anything since that would have been awkward/weird and it's not like they really care who I am, plus I didn't want to interrupt. Now I did know there was some tension between the two teams (my current team and this other team I'll be joining) but I guess I didn't realise the extent of it. Because part way through some of them really started complaining and whining about my current team, which also extends to me. It wasn't until the end of the meeting that I guess they realised I was there and asked me "Oh you're with us now?". Btw it was already announced at a larger sectional meeting that I'd be joining the team, but I guess they didn't care.
So now that I've gotten myself into this awkward situation, how do I get myself out of it? I'm guessing they all probably hate me now, right?

Is being in an agile team based or cringe? The people in the desks next to me are in one and it seems annoying having to pretend you made progress to have an update on every day (though I assume you could just do 5 things on monday/tuesday and spread them out over the week) but it does seem based how even the low level guys get to slack off in meetings for 2-3 hours a day and how you have a set amount of work per 'sprint' meaning I'd assume you get it done in the first week and slack off the rest of the time

HR called my emergency contact without trying to contact me first (there are SEVEN ways to contact me) for no goddamn reason and talked about a health related issue with that contact. What the flying fuck, I thought the HR memes were hyperbole.
>>105854418lmao probably, I think he's a liability for sure. It was also kind of funny because part of the meeting was for them to explain what they'd been doing and he just whined about having to deal with me/my team. When I checked the messages the whole convo lasted a total of 15mins, mostly because he couldn't follow basic instructions. So it made me wonder what he'd been doing the rest of the day, for that to be the most predominant part of his work.

Anyway these exclusivity clauses, in order to be legal, must provide an extra bonus that compensates the restriction.

>>105849246You are the one who needs to be taught:
- in modern remote work, you live in a world of unknown colleagues from all over the place, weak relationships and weak social skills. Why not go out of your way and make people feel welcome?
- being unresponsive can ruin your reputation: People may thing you're afk, or claim you're not helpful when they need to defend their own failure towards their boss.
- incompetence reigns supreme, and no one can tell or appreciate the value of your work or skills anymore. All they can do is judge you by your communication.
- there is no real leadership anymore, it's all agile and egalitarian and the boss has no assistant any more and is therefore swamped with menial tasks. But you can 'lead' by embracing opportunities to talk to people, form alliances with competent people on how to do the work right, and direct weaker colleagues to do it your way.
- you can ask what the coworker wants and then set an appointment, and ask him to be prepared, e.g. having tried 2-3 things to fix the situation, or prepare an environment before you start working, or to read a document. (But then of course deliver top notch help). That's how you train up new people or fend of low effort requests.

>Get new job
>Manager has a monotone voice that makes me extremely sleepy
>He also loves to schedule very long meetings
Seriously, the job looks interesting but having this manager is making me reconsider my choices. It also pays really well. Any tips?
>>105859275Start doodling on a notepad. Easy solution. You will not find another job elsewhere quickly so you gotta suck it up. More importantly there are far shitter bosses.
>>105859275>boss is just boringThat's nothing. Just work or do something else during meetings.
>>105851847You have probably displayed weakness, and women don't respond well to that. She is probably not an asshole, and just acting on a primal level. If she feels, for whatever reason, that you're a liability for the tribe and her theoretical offspring is at risk, it's impossible to stomach. With a guy you can bond over sports, and whoever is less capable can find a secure spot lower in the hierarchy, but this is not an option with her. You can never get back to neutral, not by being friendly or subservient, and she can't accept you to be dominant either.
It may be unrecoverable and reason to find a new job.
But you can try to be 100% clean, no jokes, only the most polite small talk, if any. Do not engage in any off-topic conversation. Upgrade your wardrobe, white shirt and proper pants; also look exceptional on camera. Represent your group well to the outside, i.e. customers or other teams. Execute your work 'by the book' in a way that doesn't give any room for criticism.
Good luck, anon.

He constantly passed his work onto other people at the last minute (e.g. 4 PM on a Friday he'd ask me to write up a report of everything everyone else on the team had done for the last sprint), and the team was a total mess because nothing ever actually got done, or was marked as delivered even though half the requested use cases didn't work. Then because I was the new guy after the reorg, I'm pretty sure he thought I was complaining to his manager about him (in reality I didn't care because I was already looking for another job) so he went on the offensive and started giving me all this meaningless feedback like I "wasn't playing an active role in the team," or I "wasn't working proactively," and then when I'd ask him in one-on-one meetings (which he usually cancelled last minute) what the fuck he meant and for specific ways I could do those things better, he couldn't come up with any. I got the fuck out as soon as I had another offer, no idea if he's still there but I hope that turd got fired.

I'm being offered an internal transfer. they offer the same pay (I asked for a raise, they said no) + 1 yearly bonus, equivalent to 2 monthly salaries (so a total yearly pay 1/6 higher than my curren salary), based on team performance (ie, it might or might not be paid...)
my current position is relatively comfy except for the political crap my boss has to endure (and therefore the team as a whole). I've been told that the positon I was offered is not this comfy and politics might be the same or worse.
am I being too greedy if I reject the offer and tell them to raise the pay offer?

The latter is actually doing well for herself, but it was a dead end from my perspective. Meanwhile I've been in a relationship with a Chinese PA for going on two years now, and none of this has ever been a problem whatsoever. When her grandma died, she got sad and took a few weeks off of work to grieve, but then she recovered, and now she's back to normal. If something like that had happened to my first two ex's, they'd have used it as an excuse to quit their jobs and/or drop out of college and spend the next year smoking pot in my living room. There's a certain culture urgency to being self-reliant that comes with growing up with Asian parents, and most white women from suburban America just don't got it.
