Finally got around to watching this show. It's absolutely phenomenal. Why did zoomers love this show so much? They're supposed to like shit shows like JJK and Chainsaw man. Why did they like this kino? Do they actually have good taste?

Enjoying Anime after Frieren
watched it a few months ago and to be honest, frieren has made it hard for me to go back to enjoying "normal" anime.

i get bored instantly trying to get into new seasonals or "classic" shows like eva or cowboy bebop. the character development, the emotions, and the worldbuilding just seem really third-rate by comparison. it's like going back to games you played as a kid and realizing how shallow they are compared to the stuff for adults. it's honestly depressing

has anyone else experienced this?

I have to assume that if you consider this series remotely good then you just haven't seen that much anime. It's not an indictment against you personally, nor am I saying Frieren is actually bad. It's more that I find it hard to believe people who actually watch anime would enjoy this. For all I know, it's almost entirely propped up by normals who used it as their introduction to anime, similar to what happened with AoT and FMA.
/tv/ - Frieren figured it out, while Stargate failed it

in 2024 frieren was considered the best anime ever made. now, it's universally panned by /a/ and considered mediocre algorithmic slop. how did this happen?
