people getting mad because you're new sucks but at the same time being new is when the game is the most magical. once you learn all the mechanics the game itself starts to lose its wonder and you'll have to find fun in other ways like roleplaying or powergaming.
i remember when i first started playing i would spend hours a day just playing botany messing around with mutations, a majority of my first 300 hours playing SS13 was just that. i actually had to talk to people if i wanted something done, like actually asking engineers to fix things instead of just doing it myself then i decided to learn every other role and a couple hundred hours later the game just felt completely different, there wasn't anything obscure or unknown and the joy of experimenting and finding new arcane knowledge was all gone. then i started getting anal about new players not doing every job perfectly and just decided to pick assistant and do nothing but tide for hundreds of round out of boredom.
cherish your time as a new player while you can. if i somehow forgot everything about this game i wouldn't try to learn everything about it again
