my dad has worked hard his whole life and always pushed me to work hard. he didnt buy btc when i mentioned it a lot a long time ago, and he seems to have taken it badly that i stopped working a regular job. he's right i could work a job and earn 3-4% more money every year, but honestly it just seems not worth it.


in the last few years i talk to him rarely, and when we do talk he frames working hard as being a "good person". I mistakenly tried to push my increasingly nihilistic worldview that I cant change the world, all i can do is play the game, and so far it has been rewarding me for doing very little. I think he's never going to approve of the way im living unless im working hard. I think he wouldnt even care if were a janitor making shit money, he just wants me to toil.

im leaning more and more towards keeping communication with him and his side of the family at a minimum. We were never that close and Im not sure this relationship can be fixed. my dad is a literal lead-poisoned boomer and his company is just unpleasant. has anyone been in a similar situation?
