My pet bird, who I had for a decade and considered my best friend, died at the end of July. Since then I have been drinking almost every day, sometimes with only a day or two break in between streaks of drinking. So I am technically an alcoholic. Why can't I stop doing this? How do I stop? I don't believe in a god so not doing AA. Its not affecting my work life but I fear it will if I don't do something. I had a dream about my bird this morning and was devastated when I woke up.

I stopped drinking alcohol because it is too many calories, destroys the liver, and ruins your gastro tract but what about weed THC edibles? They're only around 10 calories - yes there's the munchies but I have 1,800 calorie limits on weekdays and 2,200 calorie limits on weekends and I usually bunch my meals together after intermittent fasting anyway.
