I’m 100% convinced that the entire concept of Australia is a really long-running internet joke that people commit to and pretend that they’re being totally serious even though everyone knows that it’s a joke, kind of like the dancing cat gif and everyone pretending like they don’t know that it’s real even though they know that it’s real.
Have you ever been to Australia? Pretty much nobody has. Everyone just knows of an Australian guy on the internet who speaks with an Australian accent and says that he lives in Australia, but he could very well be doing it as part of the joke, and everyone knows it but nobody says it because that ruins the joke.
