Why does the game randomly give you cards in chaos mode?

Its so fucking stupid, why aren't you given the option to decline it?
Its so easy to get a bricked run by the game giving you a bunch of shit fucking cards you don't want.

Everyone has insta kill spell cards that kills everything.
They just use bane and 1 shot all your ward followers.

Why is sword, rune, and portal the most popular by a wide margin?
