I had no clue what the game was about. A retelling of FF1? Then who are all these goobers wearing futuristic clothes? Also the game just looked like ass. FF players wouldn't be attracted. And then all gameplay footage also looked ass. Those Soulburst animations got boring the first time I watched them. As a Nioh fan, I also wasn't biting.
Now, when I get into the actual game, it plays great. But the environments and music were all so bland. Dissidia had a pretty strict rule about only using final boss arenas, but they could have used ANYTHING from the games. Where should we put the water fiend? Well, clearly in a Final Fantasy X level, like Zanarkand, because it had a strong water theme- NOPE! FFVII underwater reactor. Fire fiend? Well, FFIV has a whole underground lava castle- NOPE! FFVIII tutorial dungeon, which is a generic volcano. Gross. The fact this game's Battle on the Big Bridge is the worst rendition of the song tells you all you need to know about the music.
Still gonna play til Rift Level 200. If Team Ninja does one thing well it's snappy gameplay.
