The whole art direction is the problem, Homestuck shines by how original it is in its presentation, and they gave it the most generic art style possible.
It's like if Undertale got a TV show, even if the show is not "that bad", it's pointless and will never be the original.
Actually, if there is a single timeline where the show is more popular than the webcomic, it would be even worse, as it really is Homestuck without the Homestuck.

because there is a LOT to get out of Homestuck, but it does not end well and a huge part of it does fucking suck. You also need to read it with a third party application because the website is genuinely fucking killed off for real

I like it in the way "this changed my brain chemistry forever" but if you're a slop consoomer that just wants their ebin peak then steer away because that's not what this is about.
