I find this part particularly mind-boggling.
He could have just stated that he's doing a full researched playthrough with a bit of acting on top. I don't think anyone would have had a problem with that. Longplays are already pretty common and many people are interested in his style so the acting part would have been probably okay too.
Just playing, doing some acting every once in a while then sharing whatever stories during the playthrough he usually does. It would have gone fine, gain some respect for playing through and memorizing the answers in a single sitting. Maybe make a half-hearted speedrun attempt without any serious intent. Would have been good content I'm sure.
But he just couldn't bear the possibility of not being some 5D Chess Grandmaster who's multiple parallel dimensions ahead of everyone else. Not "solving" the puzzles became almost a blasphemy to his own character.
Which makes him -ironically enough- really dumb for not realizing that.
