Think about the future though. If devs and publishers have their ways then 9/10 games will become online-only and/or streamed-only and pretty much all games will become "lost media" once the devs decide to turn them off. In a future like that even games that aren't just FOTM will practically cease to exist.

Having some kind of laws and regulations go into place now, will probably prevent a dystopian future for video games like I just described.
