Fear mongering. I don't know what world these zoomie Reddit stories where computers are constantly exploding come from. I worked in a computer shop for 5 years, replaced tons of power supplies since they are a common component to break and I never saw one damage a motherboard, let alone any computer where every component blew up. Sounds more like someone did something retarded like dumping a soda on it or fucking up their wiring.
Prebuilds are shit but all this bullshit about needing to get the most expensive possible power supply is some corpro propaganda as it is one of the few components you could realistically get away with going cheap on assuming it meets you wattage requirements.
