I was thinking about how Kirito named himself "the Black Swordsman" and I realized how many other things the first few arcs takes from Berserk.

>the leader beats Kirito in a duel to get his allegiance
>the leader ends up betraying his guild by revealing he's the game's creator (and thus has godlike power over the game)
>Kirito goes completely solo after finding a group of friends before they're all killed before his eyes

Reading Berserk really made me see SAO in a whole new light. I'm glad that the author seemed to get more confident in putting more of his own stuff in the later parts.
