That isn't really true. Browns made the playoffs with their backup a few years ago. I remember when Chad Henne came in and led a 99 yard touchdown drive with the Chiefs in a playoff game. Having a good backup is super important.

18 would be the most games I would feel comfortable watching. I would also like to see the roster expanded to 60 or 62 spots if they add another game. If they want more games after that, add more pre-season games. Something like 18 regular season games, 6 pre-season, with 2 international games per team feels good to me.

I like the pre-season because there are a number of players I like watching play that don't get a whole lot of playing time in the regular season.
