As for the underworlds warbands I thought in the first one everyone looked like shit but the centaur, so I'm very happy with the new one doubling down on that. The one in the pic especially is an amazing sculpt. Very stark contrast with the khorne warband from a week or two ago.

>>96137804Very well, that's all for today. We'll see you next time, or maybe not.
>>96137653 (OP)First came the elf, then came the faun, and finally came the centaur. Evolution in all its glory, friends.
>>96137865Faun and centaur evolved at the same time and then centaur outcompeated the faun
>>96137819You're talking about the new chorfs who worship a demonic bull god, right?
>>96137809Soulpod. It's something they share with the main Sylvaneth range, all the tree-revenants have them too.
>>96137888Survival of the fittest.
Evolution, my friends, evolution.
I know a lot got drowned out by chorfs, but there's some fun bits of worldbuilding coming out of the KO tome
Seems like the skyport barak-urbaz (one of the 6 main subfactions of ko) got blasted out of the sky by skaven (?) and they're now basically nomadic in their skyvessels, maybe planning to rebuild.
>>96137888Fauns were still mentioned a lot as recently as Dawnbringers so I expect we'll see them again, just with a redesign.
>>96137653 (OP)That hippie faun with the 90s hairstyle was a Kurnothi, I don't envy the poor fools who bought it.
>>96137718>imagine being a human and worshipping an a*lfen goddon't have to imagine it, I live it
>>96137931>hundreds of duardin are thought to have perishedThey meant thousands, right? Sky Ports are supposed to be the size of cities
>>96137653 (OP)>despite the faun's historical association with rape, this more recent depiction alludes to the author's homosexuality
>>96137931So the ratmen screwed the dwarves once again. What a surprise!
>>96137980Just because the city crashed doesn't mean it's entire population got wiped out. It says the main fleet was elsewhere at the time, the rest is probably down to evacuations and a controlled landing of the skyport.
>>96137819I am hoping for a demons blender actually
But a train would be good too
>>96138002how they evacuating everyone when the main fleet was elsewhere at the time?
>>96137980hundreds could be 2 hundreds, or 8 hundreds or 200 hundreds
whenever you see gw mentioning numbers treat those as placeholders for "lots" or "few"
>>96138021With the non-main fleet, dumbo.
>>96137980The fact that they are as big as a city does not mean that they have a similar population. They are dwarfs and therefore their population should be around a few thousand individuals. The hundreds that are said to have died must have been a high percentage of their population, perhaps 10 to 30 percent.
>>96137968not for long, soon-to-be-renamed unliving city!
>>96138056>The fact that they are as big as a city does not mean that they have a similar population. They are dwarfs and therefore their population should be around a few thousand individuals. That doesn't make any sense, why would they make their Sky-Port so fucking huge for only a few thousand individuals? That's a massive waste of resources and makes just getting around the city enormously difficult for no gain
Does Kharadron society place enormous importance on getting your steps in?
Do skryre-heavy lists pretty much always overload their weapon teams and war machines ASAP? I was looking at the warscrolls and some of them look really volatile to the point where I can't think of when you'd want to overload them more than once. But i'm a noob so wtf do I know?
Also are clanrats and rat ogors the designated meatshield/screens if i want to blast the board with ratling blasters and lightning bolts?
>>96137653 (OP)>Aren't you glad we got the cool version of the concept back? No. I don't want any of that furry shit in Sylvaneth.
>>96137980Hundreds is when the number doubles 100 but does not exceed 1000 and if its population were around 5000 to 10000 individuals, the losses should be either very high or very low, it will not be known until we know the population of the city.
>overlords : kharadrons
>helsmiths : zharrdrons
>fyreslayers : ??????????
also, if hashut has now been rewritten to have been part of the dwarfs pantheon in the age of myth, and if chuardins are now being rewritten as considering themselves 'TRVE order', with deals with chaos being purely transactional and otherwise their relation with chaos being the same as their relation with fuels, does that mean that there's a plot hook for a reunification of the dwarfen people that includes them, like the end times had one for the reunification of the elven people including dark elves?
>>96138120>but does not exceed 1000That's not a rule.
>>96138080They are dwarfs, they like to exaggerate with the size of things, you know, to compensate for their small size, and I'm talking about their height, not the size of their hammer, although it could also be due to both things.
>>96137931Wow, is this the 1st thing Skaven have actually done this edition?
>>96138166I've done a lot in fact but that doesn't matter because when this edition is over everything will go back to how it was before just like with the rest of the past editions.
>>96138103Rat Ogres aren't tough, they're more of a berzerker unit. WLC and Warpblaster are designed the oc every turn pretty much.
>>96138130>khara- -drons / sylva- -neth>zharr- -drons / umbra- -neth>vulka- -drons / ido- -neth>rhun- -drons / lumi- -neth
>>96138192I don't think aqshy will go back to being what it was before.
anyone know where i can find the leaked khorne battletome
>>96138130That new chaos dwarf lore is so fucking toothless and gay holy shit. I want slaves and oppression.
>GSG x3
Warclans are suffering.
I like the little vignette story there. Also it's dumb as fuck that the new BoK warband isn't daemons.
>>96138257get a job at amazon then.
>>96137653 (OP)Why the FUCK do the showcase chaos dwaves have glowing GREEN instead of Glowing RED.
You can do that if you get them of course, but god why is the display versions fucking GREEN? these arent skaven or some undead ghouls, they are dwarves of fire and furnaces, black iron stern brass and raging red fire should be thier thing. even via pure color theory, their color scheme would pop more with RED.
>>96138320Fyreslayers already trademarked red fire, and you don't want to meet their Runesmiths in court, believe me.
>>96138320what if I go to the hobby store and pick up fyreslayers instead as mistake
>>96138257As far as I'm understanding they do slavery and tyranny still, also blood sacrifices of captive enemy dwarfs, they just think they're completely in the right to do that and that what they're doing is harsh but ultimately good, not just in an egoistical way, but at large.
The question is whether they are open to diplomacy and trade with order factions like cities and khainites, and viceversa, otherwise it's all once again insular and moot and they might as well have kept them as unapologetically cartoonishly evil.
>>96138340It also sounds like they have origins in Ghur, which is interesting. Basically Hashtut was given Ghur as his realm and he hates it, so he mostly focuses on taming the realm by burning down/trampling everything.
>>96138320I think yellow fire might look nice.
>>96138166>>96138192They might also be fucking up tempests' eye according to our friends over at tga.
>>96138213> chamon dwarfs / ghyran elfs> ghur dwarfs / ulgu elfs> aqshy dwarfs / shyish (??) elfs> azyr (??) dwarfs / hysh elfsI mean, idoneth are sort of tied to death okay not really . Lightning-powered azyrite gholem dwarfs incoming!
>>96138272man, a year and a half ago I would've bought ths just for the zarbags gitz. don't paint much gitz these days tho
>>96138320for me it's the retarded sculpted smoke, patrick star proportions, and the muted colors
>>96138339aw, the gw logic reveals itself
>>96138334At least go electric blue for uber hot fire instead of throw in the towel generic "magic fire" green.
>>96138320Because red is fyreslayers, because they're writing hashut as brother of skavor, and because they wanted to portray that it's unnatural demonic fire instead of normal fire.
On one hand, it immediately teaches even the most absurdly mindless people that they don't have to paint them with red flames, which is what literally everyone would have done and never once questioned if they showed them in normal red.
On the other hand, this scheme looks like shit and they could have showcased this variety of demonic fires with alternative paint schemes in the tome.
>>96138320Should have been magenta/purple to convey warp energy without it being warpstone
>>96138360Patrick star paintjob would be dope howeverbeit.
>>96138352oh, true
Friendly reminder Kurnothi should be an army outside of tree faggots.
>>96138347>origins in Ghur, which is interesting.Yeah, that bit was surprisingly fitting, many would have gone with the most obvious aqshy or chamon, but ghur does align with the bull mutations and also with the concept of dominance via force that they and their god have.
>>96138389Why? They've literally always been part of them
>>96138272Last Destruction 4 pack was 50% Warclans
>>96138376They had purple already on the clothes instructing the reading of the scheme into a black and dark one.
It would have been just as weird if not worse with purple flames and green clothes.
>>96138370my chorfs will be grey plastic, just like god intended.
>>96138391Yeah Ghur also plays well with their traditional conflict with/enslavement of greenskins.

What the fuck is wrong with Chaos Dwarfs? I can't understand all this cries and shit...
>>96138192Neh, the KO subfaction is perma nomad now
>>96138389Why would you remind me of an objectively incorrect opinion?
tyrion and teclis go together
morathi and malerion go together
alarielle and kurnoth go together
the trees already have the kurnoth hunters and the spear of kurnoth character, kurnothi can only possibly exist as part of sylvaneth
>>96138389>A good amount of the factions still have barely enough warscroll to work with>"hey let's make even more factions with fuckall choice!"I'd go the opposite direction, just fuse some factions with each other and use the subfactions/battletraits or regiments/armies of renowns to customize your dudes
>>96138418>morathi and malerion go together>alarielle and kurnoth go togetherShit opinions only retards have: The post.

>>96138410they don't look like my indistinct fw blobs, also women exist, and I throw a tantrum whenever a company makes toys that don't fit my exact personal preferences.
>>96138354The realms alignments are kinda forced with azyr and shyish, but the depths are tied with undeath and the runesmiths are associated with lightnings and ghal maraz itself, so we can make that work.
>>96138389I don't see that happening, we've got a fuckton of armies already. If they put gitmob in gloomspite they're putting kurnothi in sylvaneth.
That being said the army being alarielle's tree-elf hybrids and kurnoth's animal-elf hybrids is theoretically pretty cool from a theme standpoint. ignore the names of the kurnoth hunters for a second
>>96138391I like it, makes hashut's spergout funnier and somewhat understandable. That being said it's harsh that chamon gets denied another chance to shine in favour of ghur. The capitoline triad of aqshy/ghyran/ghur continues its reign of dominance.
>>96138370>>96138320The colors are just so fucking bland and colorless. So desaturated and square for an army that's all about sacrifice and domination and oppression. Their theme is fire and forges and promises of power. Why did they go with this faded antique store look?
It just triggers me cause chorfs would've been my favorite army if done right. too bad we got this disgusting abortion and we are NOT getting anything besdies a pity hero for the next 2 editions. Looking to be the new 2% popularity rate army alongside IDK and Slaanesh
>>96138410Something about angles being bad and green not looking industrial.
>>96138429>trying to mergethey were never separated, anon, morathi and malekith have always been part of the same books and will always be part of the same books when malerion gets a model.
>>96138434but gitmob was a mistake...
>>96138410Kneejerk reaction to something being new and different, mostly. It's already becoming more muted.
Reminds me of the LRL "Cow" reveal which sparked months of shitposting but ultimately no one actually cared that much and they went on to be a popular army. Or basically every new army reveal that wasn't basically identical to what we've seen in the past.
>>96138410models they were never going to buy look like the wrong video game or something.
>>96138442Maybe in the Old Shit no one cares about here in AoS we have this Daughters of Khaine army that cares not for that shut down sissy, Morathi is enough to control her own territory
>bought hobgrots and horns of hashut out of hype for chuardin
>don't like the helsmiths style at all
Just getting into AoS because I fucking LOVE hobgrot slittaz. I don't know the rules at all. Can I build an entire army of only hobgrots using Slittaz and the Slittaboss?
>>96138436the red hot metal could be an ideal way to make the blades and the terribly ugly helmet"guard" they all have painted in blinding gold for some reason.
>>96138410Because Grogs hate women, blacks and good models just remember how they reacted to Cathay release... They can't recognise quality after so many years of potato
>>96138467You'd be in for a world of pain, KB players don't even want to field slittas as chaff, their rules are so bad.
>>96138480Wtf why? Is he a hero type or something? I'd be willing to compromise and use boss Scumdrek as a leader if I have to.
>>96138410>>96138430a. women look like orcs, not dwarves they should have big brunhilda double ponytails or someshit
b. sculps are muddled and dont have a clear design language like the old ones which had assyrian look
c. Colors are mutted and kinda drab, more contrast sould have been used. like black, bronze, and red instead of pale purple, desaturated bronze, and green.
chorf women are locked up and bred 24/7 lorewise
>>96138460>Morathi is enough to control her own territorymorathi's territory was literally handed down to her by malerion out of one of the 13 kingdoms of ulgu that he owns.
if morathi gets to have people in 'her' kingdom it's because malerion wants it since he closes an eye on her stealing souls from slaanesh despite not having a right to it.
and even without malerion "morathi's" book is already getting bogged down by other anti-morathi personalities.
the book will stop being called daughters of khaine in due time.
>>96138496Yes, by orcs! that's why all chuardins have tusks now.
>>96138410I just don't think that they look cool. They don't have anything that I wanted to see out of them. I'm not a deranged chud or a TWW player; I just don't see any appeal here.
>>96138410The paint scheme isn't super interesting, imo, and beardless dwarves just feels off to me. But both of those are non-issues if there are just other head options
is there a list of all of the new khorne blood tithe abilities somewhere
>>96138516black orcs nonetheless made by chorfs
and they all worship holy bull god? you see where this is going?
>>96138520As someone who is at best, very neutral on Chorfs. (hated the forgeworld version, kinda liked the old school style but obviously the models are way outdated) I was not impressed with them at first look but they're kinda growing on me with a few days to mull it over.
I do think the colorscheme they chose was not the best, and I have some other small criticisms. (modern tires on the artillery looks awful, especially when they're leaning towards a more classical look otherwise, Bull statue is too fat, giant flying bull statue is a little lacking in detail/contrast, etc)
The female heads I don't care about, there's clearly enough heads to make them all male if you want to and I don't necessarily want to.
The lore stuff I actually kinda like, surprisingly. Overall I'm feeling more positive about them then I thought I would be.
>>96138506>the book will stop being called daughters of khaine in due time.In your dreams maybe lol Malerion is a lie for old fags to dream about the truth is he did nothing, he is doing nothing and he will do nothing. Morathi is the main Dark Elf character
>>96138410They just messed up the new design, not much more to it.
>>96138579Did they, though? Most of the complaining seems to be from people who were hardcore into previous versions of Chorfs, which is a market of like 10 people so they don't matter anyway.
>>96138591>Most of the complaining seems to beNo, that's a deflection. People don't like how they look, fucking accept it already.
>>96138579>Messed up the new designImprove you mean?
>>96138436here vermin they look like your video game now.
>>96138603>People don't like how they lookI doubt you can call grogs and trolls "people", anon, outside of here people actually are invested in chorfs.
>>96138606>Improve you mean?Sure, if the target audience is homosexual
>>96138603Now you're just being retarded. Some people like them, some people don't. You can see that everywhere online The ones who are most vocally disappointed are the legion of azgorth superfans who as I already said are irrelevant in terms of numbers.
>>96138619Man do you guys have to dismiss everyone who doesn't like them like this
I just don't like them and I'm being civil about it but it's pissing me off to see all of these posts acting like every single person who doesn't like the release is a troll
>>96138410>What the fuck is wrong with Chaos Dwarfs? The artillery pieces look puny, the watermelon orbs are an obstrusive gimmick, the hats are not big enough, have those ugly gilded pieces and hard angles that break the normal cylindrical silhouettes making them look closer to nagash's hats or dark elf headgears, the blunderbusses don't look like blunderbusses, or even guns at all; the forced addition of women means a reduced focus on beards which on the troops are way shorter and not in focus as they would otherwise be for a good reason, and that's if they're present; and the hobgrots are a waste of a kit because they already had a kit of hobgrots they could have used since nobody who wants to play orcs cares about hobgrots.
Overall there's a lack of textures and curves that make the models look low in detail and artificial in a bad way, even when that is done with the most explicit intentions as with the great taurus, a normal painter won't be able to make the flat panels look good and without rivets or cracks or something more they won't look like dwarfs with a stylised aesthetic, they'll look like stylised low polygon dwarfs.
It's like they're a model wave from over 10 years ago in terms of the quality of the designs.
And lastly they're not chaos dwarfs, nothing about them screams chaos, they're no longer the chaos version of dwarfs, they're a dark version like dark elves who haven't been chaos elves in a looong time, which is not inherently bad, but it's not what people wanted.
Iโm just curious if the new chorfs are compatible with fyreslayer kits
>>96138571I'm kind of the opposite, was neutral to positive when they were first shown but as I've mulled it over I realize more and more this isn't really what I wanted (which yes was basically just old school chorfs done in modern quality, fuck forgeworld legion of azbore).
>>96138591I do kind of wonder what the reception would have been if chaos dwarfs were never a thing in old fantasy to begin with. I think if they were their own new thing without the expectations of like 3 different iterations of the same idea, all with their own take AND a generally well received vidya approach on them, people would have appreciated them more. Now a lot of people had their own ideas of what chorfs SHOULD look like (including me), and that's hard to match.
>>96138635look at this sperg
>>96138651theres your answer.
>collecting skaven and not chaos dwarfs
sometimes you just get lucky in life
>>96138591>Most of the complaining seems to be from people who were hardcore into previous versions of ChorfsJEEZ I FUCKING WONDER WHY THEY'RE BRINGING BACK CHORFS IF NOT FOR THE PEOPLE WHO LIKED CHORFS
>>96138667I don't see how this is a valid response. I didn't post that.
>>96138635Here
>>96138651 is an example of those you call "people" try read this without laughing and rolling your eyes.
>>96138635You have to realize we literally have trolls here, though. Obviously not everyone is going to like every release, but people are currently pushing back against the idea (from trolls, mostly) that EVERYONE hates them which is obviously untrue. I would say the majority of reactions I've seen here and in other places are positive, actually.
>>96138667That's not an answer, you're dismissing that post as a sperg for no reason just because it's not hailing the new models as perfect and flawless.
>>96138684Okay? So just mock people like that when they post. You don't have to generalize every single person who doesn't like a thing and diabolize them. That just generates resentment.
>>96138678You are wrong, they are not bringing back chorfs for those people, they are releasing a sanitized version of chorfs for their increasingly effeminate target audience.
>>96138696its like claiming you just went to epstein parties for the music and food, no one is going to believe you.
>>96138678>JEEZ I FUCKING WONDER WHY THEY'RE BRINGING BACK CHORFS IF NOT FOR THE PEOPLE WHO LIKED CHORFSAgain the market of people who liked Chorfs is smaller than the market of people who like getting shot in the balls, it's economically irrelevant.
This is a release for people who could maybe see themselves liking or buying Chaos Dwarfs if they weren't as terrible and unappealing as prior releases were because that is literally 99% of the potential market.
>>961387011. That's an insane analogy.
2. You're saying that it's impossible to believe that any person could dislike the models for a legitimate reason? Are you mad?
>>96138703>Again the market of people who liked Chorfs is smallYour argument is completely irrational, if nobody liked or wanted chorfs they wouldn't have made a new army of chorfs in the first place.
>>96138684>mocks people for articulatinge an actual argument>is a shameless claqeur himself>dehumanizes the formerAnd you wonder why society rejects your kind

>>96138703Without speaking in nebulous and broad terms like "terrible" and "unappealing", can you articulate what you think the Helsmiths release did to improve upon the Chaos Dwarfs concept?
>couldn't express any positive opinions without being drowned in trolls yesterday
>can't express any critiques without being drowned in trolls today
lovely thread
>>96138713It's the same logic as bring Squats back a few years ago. The number of people who actually and unironically liked Squats can be counted on one hand, but the nostalgia and hipster posing around the army means the potential to sell to a larger audience exists, while also giving GW free reign to change the army to their liking because again, 4 guys being super into the old version doesn't mater.
The 10th anniversary went well.
I have small maggotkin army and was looking for something different, with bit different style and identity, not so defensive. Any suggestion what is good aggro army? Was thinking about Daughters of Khaine, but I am not sure I exactly want to go full glass cannon. Nighthaunt look sick too, and the army doesn't seem too expensive to build. And I consider SoD too, the cavalry looks nice and simple.
Any suggestion of those of you that play NH, SoD or DoK? What do you hate about your army and waht would recommend to get?
I think when I get my Chorfnought I'm going to paint all the flames in different colours. Red, blue, green, purple and such.
I really like this idea because it kind of represents the idea of all the various deamons that are chained up within it. Each colour representing a certain "essence" so to speak.
>>96138735I've posted multiple critiques in this thread though? As long as you can do it without sounding deranged, people will generally not dogpile you for it.
who cares, chorfs are just gonna be another NPC army with no lore/range like Votann
how about we post our miniatures instead?

>would've preferred axes over sword/spear>guns look like shit, prefer the blunderbuss>stupid fucking green balls>speaking of, retarded colour scheme. Can be fixed>appreciate them trying something new but the statue taurus looks off>same for the artillery. Mortar looks decent tho>hats should've been fully round>not a fan of the beardless heads but they look to be optional-like
>general body plan looks good>armour looks good, especially when painted in the classic style. Like the shawls>characters generally look good. Again, their hats could've been better>the gem beard on that one guy>cuneiform motif>bull centaurs are great>overall happy with the build variety in the kits themselves, nice to see so many dual-build optionsOverall it's not the worst thing ever but I'm kind of let down. Then again I was never super into chorfs so maybe i'm just not the target audience here. Might pick up the bull centaurs for a painting project, or ideally to be used as a RoR. If they ever put out a really good deal on them I might try and convert the basic infantry and guns to something more to my liking.
thank you for reading my blog post.

Seems like an unpopular opinion, but the AoS rendition might be my favorite one so far. I love Sam Wise (wc3 art-style guy)'s art, so these burning Legion art deco Dwarfs fucking slap in my opinion.
The bull-naught, blunderbusses and inorganic Taurus are dragging down the range a bit for me, but the rest I love.
>>96138320well if it's demons (warpstuff) crushed up and compressed, that's basically reconstituted or artificially created warpstone (like a lab diamond) so it only stands to reason it'd be green.

>>96138926I think that the forge world rendition is tied with the AoS rendition except for the artillery which forge world did much better on. The original chorf aesthetic is GOATed and itโs a shame they didnโt just take the aesthetic used for the total war games which was basically just the original aesthetic but done a little more seriously.
Not a fan. I donโt understand why GW feels the need to innovate on faction. LRL and now Chorfs look much worse than their original aesthetics. Why? Because this game isnโt fantasy? Itโs a sequel to fantasy, whatโs wrong with having the same aesthetic in a sequel.

>>96138947>LRL and now Chorfs look much worse than their original aesthetics. Hard disagree, especially on lrl.
I plan to paint my Taurus up like it's made of stone, like some sorta living statue. It'll be stone everything, except for blazing red eyes, the glowing gem (bright green maybe?) and brass horns.
It'll be sick.
>>96138982Yeah I kinda have the same plan. Maybe obsidian is a better fit tho.

>>96138928warpstone is only green in its unrefined and dirty form, when it's refined it's pure black, as you can see on nagash and arkhan
>>96138947I can't compare this to LRL at all, with some exceptions that whole range is a serious downgrade where they went in a completely different direction I don't think any HE fan appreciated.
But again, I am a fan of the "Warcraft" look so I am viewing the new aesthetic very favourably.
If the angular look versus the more rounded one is a turnoff then I get that it's unsalvageable for you. But I can't help but think you'd like the look of them if they were bold red, black and yellow. Because they're closer to the OG look than the Azgorh look.
I mean we can agree to disagree. I'm really happy with them.
>>96138988I love the idea of doing it in stone because to me it implies that someone can enter the personal chambers of a specific lord and pass by a giant Taurus statue, thinking nothing of it. Then they anger the big boy up top and the statue bursts into life and gores them.
Plus mages bringing statues to life is always cool.
>>96138430Fw were one fucking unit that was to be used alongside normal Chorfs. FW was Infernal Guard you dumb fucking idiot. Infernal Guard look great alongside regular Chorfs. The ideal design of HoH would have been a mix of FW models and original Chorf aesthetic, and CA unironically nailed it with their TWW3 DLC. Unfortunately GW handed the design work to an intern who plays Dark Elves or Nagash armies or something because the new Chorfs are missing alot of the design factors of the FW and orginal.

>>96138992>Because whoever thought that art deco was the way to take Chorfs in AoS needs to be firedNTA, I utterly disagree.
Art deco is a cornerstone of good dwarf aesthetics, but it always needs something else with it.
>>96138999I thought in AOS their stones were supposed to be compressed grave-sand?
I genuinely think there a large proportion of people in every major fanbase that would accept and pretend to love shit on a plate if it was marketed as the next new release for their game.
I genuinely have a hard time believing thereโs people who find the Helsmiths as a good looking range. I guess only time and sales will tell.
>>96138901Thank you for the reply. I agree with most of your criticisms, and the praise of the dual-build kits and bull centaurs. What breaks them for me, however, is that I'm not very fond of the hexagonal motifs and the relative lack of "diabolic industry" aesthetics. I would have preferred if they adhered more closely to the stylings of the Horns of Hashut warband, which I really liked.
>WoW! WoW!

>>96139009>of the design factors of the FW and orginal.NTA, can you name some?
Rounded vs angular, axes vs spears is the two points I've seen being brought up.
I like them, but I'm wondering where the turnoff is for others.
>>96139033I donโt want to sound like Iโm only spouting buzzwords. But this range is the most CAD feeling range in GW history. CAD doesnโt have to feel this way going off most GW releases. But it looks and feels aesthetically like it was designed for a video game vs being a part of a living world.
>>96139033Their artillery and guns need to be more industrial as well like the originals. What they have now look like toys. Also the lack of any kind of chaos stars and skulls is disappointing, they really look like the dwarf version of dark elves as it is currently. They are still CHAOS so to see no chaos insignia at all anywhere sucks. They went hard into the bull motif which is fine, but the original had bull, skulls, and chaos. This one just has bull and only bull.
>>96139028There are schizophrenic defenders who think everything new is good and shat on only due to some conspiracy like there are schizophrenic detractors who think everything new is bad and ruined by some conspiracy.

My GW purchases in all of AoS is 1.5k-ish points of KO, the original Warcry box, Cursed City, and the Bone-zone SBGL box + the now old but still kinda new mounted wight king.

>>96139009>Fw were one fucking unit that was to be used alongside normal ChorfsNta but I have never seen even one (1) picture of somebody playing a game with both forgeworld and 4th edition oldchorfs. >>96139028I agree with your first point but why is it so surprising to you that people might enjoy something you personally don't ? I don't like this rendition much either but I also think 95% of 40k looks like dogshit yet here we are.
>>96139023They are now. But when they were first released in Fantasy, those gems were intended to be refined warpstone.
>>96139060That's fair, I'm just stating that the design of FW chorfs was to compliment original Chorfs, as we can see that with their elites being proper big hats
>>96139023No idea, but when the models were made the point was that those gems were made of refined warpstone and warpstone has been described as black for a long time before that too.
Is there a guide to paint stone skin?
>>96139040That's an opinion that can be hard to articulate, but I kinda get what you're on about.
>>96139045>They are still CHAOS so to see no chaos insignia at allThis one I get.
Seems like this is the biggest fundamental change with them, since their deal is that they survived the age of chaos by turning the invading demons into an industry. So they view themselves at opponents to chaos, and orderly. Rather than being Chaos's weapon merchants.
It's a big narrative change for them.
As for the guns, they are more ornate and less industrious for sure. But they still look industrious to me.
>>96139081it's no different than the guides for painting stone
>>96138760Not sure when Iโm actually going to get to real work on it, but I at least saved myself several nights of trying to achieve the same effect with a normal brush by having a long session of airbrushing basecoats yesterday.
>>96139020long time no see anon
>>96139029mhyea seems like a fair opinion to have. in hindsight it's funny that people were so worried they were going to look too much like the horns of hashut, only for them to be more closely aligned to the old aesthetic yet still in a very new direction
>>96139045>CHAOS so to see no chaos insignia at all anywhere sucksdid chorfs ever have any non-hashut chaos iconography ? I guess the pointed arrow motif you can find on the 4th edition ones kIind of harkens back to the star of chaos design. I don't think the industrial forgeworld rendition you were talking about has any of that. Could be wrong though.
>>96139107>did chorfs ever have any non-hashut chaos iconography ?The FW war machines were festooned with chaos stars and arrows
>>96138947> LRL and now Chorfs look much worse than their original aestheticsLRL mog high elves. We were only lacking proper heavy armored elves back in the launch.
Do people really not like the LRL? They retained the feeling of their originals pretty well in terms of the armour designs, they went from being pseudo Hellenic to more fantastical pseudo Hellenes. These Chorfs just seem like a big departure from both the older aesthetics.
>>96138982I canโt tell if this bull is a real model or a mount from WoW with a chorf photoshopped over it.

>>96139153>you can convert a cathay model into a high elf model, but you can't do the same with a lumineth modelYeah, could you imagine ?
>>96139128I love em. Started out ambivalent on them, lamenting that each sculpt had something that ruined them. But they grew on me. Now the only thing I hate about them is their assembly design that makes sub assemblies a damn pain.
>>96139128LRL is fairly popular into real AoS players (something very scarce around here) the idea of have a new version of High Elves is cool and they have impressive models like the Sphinx
>>96138651>>96138571In a couple of months we will know how popular they'll be, they're getting an army launch box and it selling out or not will be an indicator of how much of a hit they were. I think GW managed to please people who weren't planning to buy Chuardin anyway, and alienated people who were.
They're not for me, though I might have a second look with head and weapon swaps as I think the bodies and armour look good. At least I'll always have my warcry Horns of Hashut, they're closer to what I hoped they'd be going for.
>>96139128Itโs pretty common for people to find the cow helmets associated with alarith silly. I personally find it exotic and a good way to stylize a subgroup, but w/e.

>>96139176I'm holding out hope that a potential future second wave will go more into the Hashutaar aesthetic.

Especially the swordmasters.
>>96139063>>96139079ok, but if in AOS they're not warpstone, and warpstone glows/burns green in AOS, then how does that controvert my point about the reason for the new (AOS) chorfs' flames being green?
>>96139172Anon, just because someone tried to do it it doesn't mean it works, it doesn't, it's not a fitting conversion.
>>96138775>notoriously unpopular new squats compared to the notoriously more appreciated necromunda dwarfs/40kg/ here, I do not understand what you are saying but I assume you believe Necromunda is more popular than it really is. In practice, they sell as much as other Xenos, which means far less shoved down your throat as Marines. People pretend Eldar is unpopular because they hate Eldar. Dark Eldar actually IS unpopular. They're the least selling major army and their annual sales have already been surpassed but much newer armies like Votann and World Eaters. But a lot of that has to do with how impossible it has always been to actually collect that faction.
>>96139176>how popular they'll bepopular compared to what? to the nonexistent brand new plastic army of chaos dwarfs that retained their iconic aesthetic elements?

>The most notable item worn by the most honoured warriors of the Horns of Hashut is the bull-horned war mask, the hashutaar. Forged in the taurine image of the Father of Darkness, this is more than just an intimidating symbol of office; it is an artefact of fell power, tempered in the blood and ashes of sacrificial victims and infused with potent sorcery. A hashutaar is earned only through the darkest of deeds, and it grants the bearer supernatural strength and endurance, allowing them to smash their way through solid stone walls. Each mask is crafted by its wearer, and represents their pact with Hashut - the offering of their soul in exchange with the strength to survive. According to tradition, it must be donned when the metal is red hot: an agonising process many warriors do not survive.

>>96139824Holy shit the bull looks so much better in black. Yeah im scrapping the stone look entirely now.
>>96139824making the giant bull mount black with bleeding runes would probably be a pretty good look
>>96139824That still doesn't work due to the gold
Look at the crewmembers, look at how the frontal part of their hat isn't in a strikingly contrasting other color than the rest of the hat, paint all other hats the same way and avoid painting the trim a different colour and the miniatures imorove MASSIVELY
trim is the sight killer
also those centaurs are way too oversized and the taurus is probably undersized there
>>96139835You can have black stone
I also expect someone to use the cracked earth texture paint on it to add a lava texture
>>96139824It definintely looks better as a whole, but the individual sculpts still stink no matter the paint scheme.
>>96139824the bull works but the rest of it not as much. needs less gold, more black, either black trim or black plate with red trim or something like pic related
less gaudy, more brutal. that fits these models better, especialyl since they dont have as much filligree and embossed iconography as the old ones, they are more stripped down and brutalist
>>96139835could go for a basalt or shale tone, look for it
>>96139824you can polish a turd all you like, at the end of the day it's still a turd
Thinking of starting a first AoS army but can't decide between Skaven or Kruleboyz, there's an lgs that still has a Skaventide box slightly below retail. What would be a better bet?
>>96140013I'd check for bundles online rather than buy a whole VS box with a 2nd army you don't need
>>96140013You can get into either one relatively cheaply due to their starter boxes getting chopped up and sold on ebay
>>96140013Skaven have spent more time overall in the "competitive" zone than Kruleboys, who the rules writers have seemed to struggle with. After the Skaven update they have broadly similar aesthetics (spiky/scrappy/ragtag), so since you don't feel strongly one way or the other I'd vote Skaven.
>>96140013If you can split the skaventide then go for it.
If you want to go kruleboyz then look in the secondary market for stormbringer issues
>>96140013I think you'll like skaven better
>>96140013Skaven have the bigger range, and while kb were in a launch box too it's been 3 years so will be more difficult to pick up for a good price. Everything else being equal, I would go for skaven.
Also, how much of a discount are we talking ? It's all gone now but in my area you could find skaventide at 15% off for a while, maybe you can find some near you.
>>96140013skaventides a good deal, and between the two armies it definitely has a wider range of models and i would also say more interesting named characters for its narrative to revolve around. skaven have units for just about every role, good mobility, good shooting, good melee, a bit on the squishy side but can also bring units back from the dead constantly with reinforcements.
kruleboyz models have a lot of charm and personality with their lanky proportions, goofy tiki mask shields, and sour expressions, as well as a decent collection of fun beasts to paint, though as an army they have massive gaps in their roster most other armies dont have, and their gameplay can be quite difficult to grasp, relying on fragile units, baited traps, and a fair bit of random chance. skaven also has random mechanics, but in skaven you get the payoff upfront and then suffer random consequences, while kruleboyz have no random consequences but a highly random chance for your payoff to just not happen, with the dice often leaving you up shits creek. they also dont have a way to bring models back or heal, so once your squishy guys die, they're just gone
all of this to say, both armies have fun model ranges, but with kruleboyz limited roster, unforgiving mechanics, and lack of reinforcements, you are more likely to face an uphill battle trying to learn them. aesthetics are more important than anything else, but all other things being equal i would start with skaven and then circle back around to kruleboyz if you ever decide to collect a second army.
>>96140013Pick the one you think has cooler miniatures
When will kruleboyz get cavalry
or bugs
or bug cavalry
>>96140139Deepstriking flying ranged cav soon
>>96140139warclans already have cavalry, and if kruleboys get one it will be hobgrots anyway
bugs will feature in the drogrukh army
bugs cavalry are is in sylvaneth
>>96139824Does this exist in a higher resolution?
>>96139967Bad taste.
>>96140139unfortunately i fear
>>96140155might be the case, and that the GW team see warclans as a single cohesive army and not actually two separate ranges, so they might feel that goregruntas and mawgruntas satisfy kruleboyz cavalry needs, and that boltboyz and killbowz satisfy ironjawz ranged needs, despite the two armies pretty much not interacting at all on the tabletop.
i still hold out hope, we have a cavalry commander for kruleboyz (actually we have 4 different cavalry heroes and yet no cavalry) so it could happen, but i worry they think the problem is already solved.
>>96140139I hope never. They should have different mechanics from IJ. Like some outflanking from the fog or appearing near opponents units in their movement phase when they move as a KB reaction or something.
>>96139824I just wish we didnt have the ugly women sculpts. I want bearded angry manlets, not ugly fat women faces.
>>96140107The store has it priced at 170 USD, my only issue with trying for Kruleboyz halves or Dominion boxes is that I end up getting screwed on import fees anyway. So if I were to start with them it'd have to be on the Spearhead. As a bonus I like the theme and aesthetic of Stormcast so I think I'll keep that half and just eventually make a full army out of it.
>>96140198Literally just a head swap anon. And even a two digit IQ should be enough to scroll through the alternate poses and realize that there's nothing stopping you from using all male heads.
Do all unmodified rolls of 1 fail, or only unmodified rolls of 1 to hit, wound, and save? The Kruleboyz faction terrain lets you add 1 to the results of dirty trick rolls when you're near the totem and im uncertain if i'd be able to get my first trick off for 'free' with the help of the totem, or if it's only useful on the subsequent rolls.
It seems intentional that the core rules are lacking a blanket "rolls of 1 auto fail" line somewhere at the beginning or in reminder text, instead having each example provided state that "this roll fails on an unmodified 1", which is not present in the Kruleboyz army rules, and that there's no faq about it as far as I can tell
>>96140215>using all male heads. That implies there are enough male heads for all, which is not a given, certain female models (like the one at the artillery) also seem to come with sculpted details on the breastplate as visual proxy of a decorated beard, which suggests the model is intended to be a female and has no alternative male head
>>96140261We do this song and dance every time and you're always wrong, any recent GW kit gives you AT LEAST two heads per body, if not more.
>>96140198>>96140261NTA but just don't buy the minis if having dwarf women is such a fucking deal breaker for you, you stupid whining faggot. You probably didn't have any interest in the army in the first place and you're only trying to stir shit up. Please kys, unironically
With chorfs out of the way, next is umbraneth, right?
>Noooooo muh womeeeeen!!!! stoooop
How many years has been?
>>96140261idk what to tell you if having one female model on the artillery crew is a dealbreaker for you besides "if you don't want the product don't buy the product"
>>961402271s being auto fails only apply in combat and prayers, for example if you roll 1-1 in charge you can still make that 3" charge as long as you have any plusses to charge rolls
>OH MY GOD I'M FORCED TO MAKE ONE ARTILLERYMAN A WOMAN
>SAVE ME NIGGERMAN YOU'RE MY ONLY HOPE
>>96140207The full skaventide set for a 170 dollars ?? That's a great deal, probably around 35%. The discounted sets in my area came down to 175 and that's in euros. That's a great deal and if you wanna get into aos it's a pretty great discount. Now that being said be sure you really want skaven, don't get too blinded by the discount either.
But yeah from a purely monetary perspective this is a great point towards skaven.
>>96140283>UmbranethFuck i don't know wich one of the schizos in this general is more laughable.
>>96140013Look online for places that ship to you. Itโs not hard to find skaventide like 30% off online due to how poorly it sold relative to number of copies produced. If youโre in Canada I can even link you skaventides for that much.
>>96140293that's what I thought, thanks for the confirmation!
>>96140280>and you're always wrongno, I'm not, you just conveniently ignore all instances where you're wrong, there are kits with obligated women models, the apt analogue being the crew of the cannon in cities of sigmar, alternative head or not, one crewmember is a woman regardless of what you may want.
It is likely for the infantry to have enough heads to make them all male, but it's not a given.
>>96140283Next as in being the army people will talk about coming soon for the next five years, yeah probably.
they put female heads in votann boxes too but theres usually 2-3 of them to show in box covers. the newer sprues have a hefty amount of head options and there's usually more than enough male heads for 10 man units
i for one will not use female heads at all
>>96140316>there are kits with obligated women modelsTHE HORROR. I'm sure that was a bone chilling experience for you.
But that's obviously not the case here, all the infantry bodies are unisex so stop crying about your one artillerywoman already, it's pitiful.
>>96140326>But that's obviously not the case hereDo you have the sprues in hand?
>I. HAD. TO. ASSEMBLE. A. FEMALE. BODY!!!
>NOOOOOOOO
Imagine
>>96140338yeah, im holding them right now. fits in one hand nicely so i'm free to use the other hand to jerk your mom off
>>96140325votann heads don't come with big hats, extra heads take way more space on the sprue.
>>96140338Please do point out the hidden tits in the previewed infantry units anon. Impress me with your unbelievable autism.
>>96140304Another question just for future list building as I'm not familiar with AoS and also just started recently with 40k. How viable would a Skaven list be that's a mix of clanrats, some weapon teams, maybe a few rat ogres and then some of the big characters? I don't want something super meta and don't like unit and character spamming. So was just curious at a more varied thematic list.
>>96139824>>96140162Found it.
>>96140261>That implies there are enough male heads for all, which is not a givenThat is a given for the infantry. This is the standard for infantry units now.
The only one I'd be uncertain about if the artillery. Hopefully there is another spare male infantry head to swap with.
>>96140325Same. Who the hell plays any dwarf faction for women minis???
I want the big glorious beards.
>>96140360Those making ridiculous statements about Chorfs obviously
>>96140362That would be perfectly playable
>>96140355The point is not that there might be hidden tits on the models, but that there might not be enough male heads for all of the bodies.
>>96140364God the mortar looks so wimpy
>>96139217>>96139251Popular compared to GWs expectations, seeing as one can assume there is some link between production numbers and expected sales. As much as we like to complain about it, GW is trying to only make boxes that sell.
There are plenty of fomo-boxes gathering dust, but not all of them, so I think it's fair to say that leftover boxes is an indicator of popularity.
>>96140351im not worried, i think they learned how to make most of the empty space in sprues as i saw from their newest kits, 3 sprues should be more than enough to give us a wide range of bearded heads
>>96140360These are all high quality posts, though.
>>96140379It looks better in a battery of multiple such howitzers
otherwise I think a conversion that swaps the thin gun with one of the the bullbot's cannon arm should be quiet feasible
I have no idea on how to fix the rockets launcher though, it just looks off that way, maybe by mounting the rockets as pointing vertically? I dunno
What went wrong with AoS Dwarves.
>>96140652That grogs are too much into potato to appreciate them.
>>96140652Is the slayer in the picture naked, and its just his pubes and ass hair?
>>96140652I think the current AoS creatives struggle to create a faction that isnโt immediately flanderized. The most popular factions are mostly just races ported from fantasy into AoS. When the creatives try to make a new unique faction they canโt convincingly create a new race/people without turning them into a caricature of the concept. I think a lot of it and in general modern GW is how corporate it has become. The creatives arenโt passionate for their work, they are manufacturing creativity and it reeks most of the time. Sometimes they manage something interesting, but most of the time across all current GW systems they miss because itโs so forced and because their respective fanbase will defend literally anything and everything they put out for the most part. At least in 40k and AoS. The more grog games either ignore GW and fix the game themselves like fantasy, which then forced GW to adopt the community changes officially. Or they simply reject it like with the Horus heresy community. The 40k and AoS crowd are younger and newer and tend to simply accept anything that is given to them and will attack anyone who critiques it.
>>96138410Look at LRL and compare them to the High Elves. Next, do the same with the new Helsmiths of Hashut and Chorfs. Notice anything?
I'll explain some. To put it simply, HoH lacks the design elements that would otherwise identify them as a refresh of, or spiritual successor to, Chorfs. You can paint a pretty clear throughline between LRL and the High Elves, you can't do the same with HoH and the Chorfs. If you squint, turn your head, and be extra generous, you might see one or two elements (slightly tall hats and some beards) - but even then, its a loose connection, at best.
I know AoS is a sequel that doesn't want to be a sequel, but holy shit. Taking your design cues from Warcraft in a bid to "be different" is a little much.
>>96140652Fuck off with that slop, faggot.
>>96140767>Let me write an essay about my life as a gay, blind, retarded manWow anon, nice copy paste. I'm very impressed by your...uh...bravery and openness about your many crippling disabilities.
>>96140767That's a lot of text to give us a retarded vision. anon, you don't have something better to do?
It's been two days already and trolls, faggots and grogs are still in full force polluting the thread, how much time until they fuck off?
>>96140826This is the prime example. Any criticism or lack of positive reception is met with claims of conspiracy and hatred. Itโs mental illness to respond like this.
>>96140826I've taken two weeks off for this
>>96140833I have seen the whole "criticism" of the thread it goes from "It has women" to "Is not like the old thing i liked so much but never bought" you are entitled to say whatever shit you like and give your opinion but don't expect people to not point your criticism is full of shit.
>>96140833Anon, "I can't touch a female model without sobbing, shaking, and throwing up" isn't criticism, it's a cry for help.
>>96140767I don't even like them but how can you possibly claim that they aren't a spiritual succesor to chorfs as loomies are to high elves ? A shitty one maybe but a succesor nonetheless.
>>96140826Just remember that it would have been like this no matter what was shown on Friday. Literally every reveal brings out the spergs and retards working whatever angle they think has traction in their pitiful, broken minds.
None of it ever amounts to anything, literally. The army gets released, a bunch of people buy it and the world continues on.
>>96140848>>96140851>le women >le blacks No one really cares about your straw men of the complaints. You can see tons of anon in this thread and others critiquing the aesthetic in multiple ways that reoccur in many arguments that donโt mention either of the two straw men youโve put up to deflect criticism. Youโre pathetic, not because of your subjective like of the product. But in your vitriolic militant hatred of those who do not like it voicing their opinions as to why.
>>96140851That's rich coming from a transsexual with zero intimate relationships to show for himself
Itโs not really Warcraft aesthetics thereโs no crippled wizards in magical floating wheelchairs and armless half blind black women fighting grey haired glasses wearing millennial self inserts.
>>96140885Oh yeah "LOOKS LIKE WARCRAFT" is so thoughtful and interesting criticisim. I feel very sorry for all of you who are so devoid of any joy or can't even let go of some sort of personal hatred against an IP that you have to come here, to a place you hate, to talk and try to diminish other people choices and likes.
Truly sad and schizophrenic behaviour, but i guess you will keep doing it.
>>96140906Look just because you disagree or donโt like a critique doesnโt mean it isnโt poignant. I completely agree that it looks like if dwarfs joined the burning legion aesthetically. Just because you like the aesthetic doesnโt mean itโs not an accurate comparison.
>>96138213I hate words that end in -eth- it makes you sound like you have a lisp when you speak them
>>96140848>your criticism is full of shit.but it isn't, you're being so reductive that from your point of view it would be practically impossible to have any sort of criticism
>>96140767HoH, especially with the official paint scheme, are basically "what if dorfs had dark elf aesthetics?" the army. Which is weird for me given I was a big dark elf player. There's some level of visual appeal but at the same time it doesn't feel like dorfs at all.
>>96140906>Oh yeah "LOOKS LIKE WARCRAFT" is so thoughtful and interesting criticisimIt doesn't have to be, it just has to be correct, and it is, it's not even a comparison that's been limited to 4chan threads.
>>96140922Look fantasy has a lot of common elements point that something looks like "Warcraft" as some sort of manthra or screaming comes from such aesthetic considering we are talking about a fantasy environment hardly can be considered criticism. WoW is a succesful franchise and even if these models took inspiration from it that is not the case i don't see what's the problem.
>>96140940Spoiler: It is not. This Warcraft shit is something people (schizos) have been saying since the early Stormcasts design with Pauldrons
You can repeat it how many times you want it doesnt make it correct.
Not everyone likes them, why can't you peopke accept it?
>>96140938If they're actually retconing Hashut to be a evil dwarf god and not a demon, then they literally are just Dark Dwarfs

>>96140906relax james im sure gw is a great company to work for
>>96140957the real question is why you can't accept people like them? at reddit, at dakka i see the people get hyped and reasonable criticism is given and then people move on why you come here to an anonymous board to scream again and again you don't like something? we got the message...
>>96140957Spam 150 more posts, maybe then people wii accept you
>>96140932Here's the thing anon, your criticism literally doesn't matter. It won't change the release, it won't convince other people not to buy the thing you don't like, it serves no actual purpose whatsoever except giving you an avenue to vent your frustration. Which people naturally have very little patience for, because no one is reading this board to hear about YOUR problems.
You can say you don't like something, and that's fine but literally no one cares that you don't like it. The more you whine and cry and carry on and write huge stupid essays and generally bust a spleen about this, the more annoyed with you everyone becomes because none of us signed up to read your blog. No one cares, and that's the truth.
It's like when you're reading product reviews on Amazon or whatever and you automatically skip over the 12 paragraph one star review that's written in all-caps because obviously whoever wrote that diatribe in a fit of rage is an outlier and not worth spending any time on.
>>96140944No. Youโre wrong. The criticism is that the range specifically looks like Warcraft models from a specific faction inside a specific Warcraft expansion. Itโs not a general statement of them looking broadly fantasy. Itโs a pointed comparison saying they look like one specific faction in Warcraft that is uniquely Warcraft. As the other guy said. People are making the comparison on every website not just here. Youโre acting like a schizo pretending these are some kind of targeted attacks here.
>>96140906Dude I just don't like how they look
I'm not attacking people for liking them, I'm not screeching about chud shit like women and black people, and I'm not even mentioning Warcraft. I just don't like them, and I also don't like being told that I'm doing the above for not liking them.
>>96140940Except it isnt, the only more vague nothing argument is the "MOBA" one, you can apply it because its a vague mentioning of something everyone knows, but theres nothing else to it
>>96140955>It is not.It is, they inarguably look like the low polygons assets of a mmorpg or moba game, especially with the large trims and the unfortunate color scheme.
You don't get to dismiss the comparison because you don't find it flattering.

The fact is the box will get released, there will be 2+ heads for every body in the kit, no one will have forced you to apply a female head to one of the models you didn't buy anyway, and you'll move on the next preview to start the entire pointless sob and dance over again.

it's without question that some releases are way more positively received than others, there's no conspiracy to ruin aos, it's mostly people sharing their comments and some releases being more in line with people's tastes and expectations than others, and this release has been received worse than the skaven one, which is both sad and unsurprising because there were a lot of expectations for this army

The pointless necessity to have female heads in the chaos dwarf range has now led to all infantry models having very small beards.
In another time instead of wasting 10 heads for female versions we would have had alternative helmets to represent a different unit option.
There's no positive to this inclusion.

>>96141692>I'm older, I come from a generation where hot/cute warrior chicks were a completely normal thing in fantasy and no one was weird about it.This clearly isn't that at all. It's a war on femininity, and creativity by proxy.
The units are made to be unisex, the women androgynous and ugly, on purpose by ideologues. This is not an inspired decision, it's a diversity quota.
The Underworlds warband leader is arguably better, just because they went in for making her this comically ugly matriarch figure.
There is at least some character in that compared to every new release having this modern western notion that "anything men can do woman can also obviously do, and they participate in compareable numbers".
It's just such shit writing, with the designers cramming their modern world views into fantasy settings.
It's not "fantastical and awesome women, doing incredible things". This is not warrior princess Xena.

>>96141971>There's a grain of truth to it, but the people who shriek, and scream and cry and shit their pants everytime a woman or minority gets included in literally anything regardless of context are no better.Nta, but you DO realize that this happens because of an extreme response in the first place right? When people bring up their complaints and then are called racist nazis (Which is an extreme), you shouldn't be surprised that the other side eventually will become extreme in their arguments as well. This is end result is BECAUSE inital complaints years ago when all this culture war shit started was met with calling people who had issues with diversity or whatever ultra mega racist nazis and we should kill nazis on sight, so naturally, things fucking escalated to the point that it's stupid to call one side more ridiculous than the other, since it's just a response and reaction to the tactics of the other side.
>>96141964Why so hostile, anon? Yes, I know Tolkien is catholic and Frank Herbert found religious prophets dangerous.
The difference is that they wrote their worlds in a way so this made sense and was part of the story.
Here the authors are used to having short-tempered reactions to anyone not seeing their worldviews (like you), so they just shoved it into AoS without caring about what would make sense.
And it sticks out like a sore thumb, because they don't understand how the world works.
>>96141971>but the people who shriek, and scream and cry and shit their pants everytime a woman or minority gets included in literally anything regardless of context are no better.I won't argue against this completely.
It's just that people are so fatigued by these liberal theater-kids writing most of our entertainment media for the last 10 years.

>>96142384>Femdorfs are supposed to be super rare and precious compared male dorfs if they had similar niche roles on the battlefield that reflected their place in society it would work fine. That's not really a generally true role (and rule) for AoS though, given prevalence of them in KO. >>96142727He's a wizard, why would he look like a Smith or engineer. Also the original didn't look like an engineer or smith so if the new one did then you'd be mad about it
>>96142773>anti-chaos chaos factionthats what every chaos worshiper believes themselves to be
>>96142773>Order undeadNope, Undeads are Natasha and Natasha control all undeads
>>96142787The other LoA one with the hammer and furnace backpack did
>>96140884>Just remember that it would have been like this no matter what was shown on FridayNah, Skaven models were widely accepted despite shit posting. The dooming didn't come until rules dropped.
>>96142784I feel like Nighthaunt suffer from all being very similar to each other. There's only so many ways you can render "spooky bedsheet ghost" in miniature form. They have a very uniform aesthetic and, at least to me, there's not many different ways of painting them. They were the first couple of boxes I painted, but I found them very boring after I finished a box of Chainrasps and Reikenor.
>>96142790Nagash* Fucking corrector
>>96142784because those releases are not about popularity, its about waiting until its your turn, now get back in line
>>96142742I like these battle-scarred heads they've been doing in the new Chorf kits, not something I see too often on game models. Something I've really appreciated in Warmachine's elf faction too if you look at the Mage Hunters with burned faces, missing eyes/ears, etc.
>>96142826I feel like squatting half the factions for TOW is actually a blessing for them, since they'll get new content for armies a lot fast despite being the least supported of the main 4.
>>96142809But they could give the faction more variation if they tried I mean the ideas are there you can think of new โpunishmentsโ that Nagash could do against people to improve the factions options, heโll even an ectoplasmic war machine like the old Ghostly ships were shouldnโt be something out of question.
Yet here we are with ANOTHER pity heroโฆ
>>96142836>They will get fastest content in ToWWhat?
>>96142792>durrr his hammer has an anvil on it obviously its a smith You are mentally weak
>>96142852He had a furnace on his back...
>>96142841possessed armors is like the most obvious thing you can make, and its still nowhere to be seen
>>96142750Death is pretty rad. Who doesn't love skeletons?
It would be cool to get a new Wight King on foot that's more customizable than the current one. I do love the current one but he's a but squat.
>>96142848Each army will get new stuff quicker than AoS because there's only 10 total. Unlike the years wait for a lot minor AoS stuff
>>96142865It would be a really good way to add an elite option to the hordes of ghosts. And you could get real creative with it. Something that just came to mind would be a soul furnace. A real big walking furnace that burns the souls of those who've pissed off Nagash one too many times as fuel. Could spew balefire from the furnace grate and have little spirits trying to escape from it.
>>96142920If we stick to the punishment angle, it might be iron maiden device type thing. Its a bad photo, but the guy in the picture i attached previously is shaped like a walking genie lamp, which is pretty fitting for ghosts
>>96142865>>96142920Haunted armour is such an easy slam dunk I'm genuinely surprised they haven't done it yet. Asides from that there's a lot more that you can do with a ghostly faction that isn't just bedsheets (I mean I like bedsheets but some variety would be nice), but you gotta get a bit more creative. Maybe lean into the multiple limb thing NH already kinda got, have some big balls of ghosts melded together into a single monster, or something like the walking cages from dark souls 3, shit like that.
>>96142949Who Nagash punishes can be pretty stupid though. Isn't one of the units made up of punished nurses and doctors whose only crime was extending peoples' lives?
>>96142971>Haunted armour is such an easy slam dunk I'm genuinely surprised they haven't done it yet.I feel like the answer might be GW thinks people like the bedsheets and straying too far from the bedsheets will be a turnoff.
You're not wrong that some Fromsoft body horror would be a good direction to go in to get bigger and meaner ghosts though.
>>96142971They've already done possessed armor too, so it's not like they don't know how to render it in a plastic model. They could even include optional parts like ghost heads or arms in place of the helmet or pieces of the armor.
>>96142977Nagash punishments arenโt something made for justice or duty or even law is just amusement for the asshole.
>>96142787>why should the demonSMITH in the army called helSMITHS of hashut look like a smith? ...
>>96139824tow fags are so embarrassing holy shit.
>>96138467There are a couple of other things you could take in your hobgrot army. Swampboss Skumdrekk is a mounted Hobgrot hero that can buff your slittaz along with your slittabosses. Marshcrawla Sloggoths are technically being controlled by a group of hobgrots so you could just have a couple of warmachines to match your hobgrot slitta spam.
