You can only have <Color/Attribute> and <Generic/Colorless> cards in your deck.

Effect that gives you a Resource when you do thing related to Color/Attribute

I think that would work fine. There would also be cards that give you Resource when you do things or at the start of your turn or whatever. Taking some inspiration from Digimon here. The Flag/Emblem/whatever would do more things past Set 1. Letting you use multiple Color/Attribute, only certrain Types, etc..

I'm going to do Life Points instead of Shields, just don't know how much to make the starting LP be. Some Flag/Emblem would also change your starting LP or hand, just like Flags in Buddyfight.

Would pretty much be a mist of MTG, Yugioh, Duel Masters, Buddyfight and Digimon.

I know its extremely generic, but its something I just want to do for myself, purely for fun. Or I guess to see how well I can balance a game.

I wish they did things like Rocket man : Have cards with all crew from a single nationality. It was honestly a boner killer have to trade for crew. (and because of that the coolest thing about crew was almost never used : crew would be face down on ship cards until their abilities were used).

The game is a banger but needed some balance and rules revisions to imo become really really solid and good.
Another exemple of wasted design: Event cards (Revolutions, and SouthChina Seas). Those where really cool designers but because of I think 2 (unbalanced) they never did events again.
Other was the forts: they did not cost points but instead gold, you could place them on deserted island for extra protection. I mean, If I where to play against somebody competitively I would sure include the 3 gold cost fort on my force. (Imo it would be more balanced if they had a cost, smaller than a ship, and required a crew who can repair to be built).
Other cool but not used thing was the titans, some could carry gold+crew but I think only At Ocean's Edge had them.

Some AEG games had battle packs and faction packs: AKA everything you need to play a game within one pack. (For Warlord it was mostly for sealled/draft but it was possible to play the game with just 1 battle pack for each player; for City of Heroes the battle packs were indeed a full playable deck)(In L5R the faction packs from coils of madness(?)(i think) had half of a dynasty deck for a clan +sometimes some fate cards)

Just tried a new card game called Frosthaven. It's pretty neat with how it let's you choose your opening hand like in Ashes, and how every card is a two faced card giving a lot of room for options. I just wish the decks sizes were bigger than ~10 cards. Also, it's a bit of a bother to carry around, /acg/s shouldn't weigh 20kg.

I'm a huge fan of all the coop expandable card games. Can't wait to experience another adventure.
Dev 1: It's location based. I'm not considering it competing against those brands. It's designed to appeal to our fans and those that love Deadlands/Weird West Horror and rpg players to bridge them into card games as well as the co-op crowd. It has a poker theme without needing to know poker which sometimes becomes an issue with teaching Doomtown
Dev 2: I love coop games too! I have far to many hours in Arkham and own everything! The game does use a location based system, but is a bit more free in its movement. Think you are in a town and there is a saloon, a general store and a bank. You can move to those how every you want with a move action. In the same example lets add a location call "Jeb's Farm" that is out of town. You can still get there but you may have a hard time making it back to town in the same round.
The things I think that really set us a part is enemy activation and our skill tests. Arkham is a good example on test, but we have no bag we have a 52 card poker deck with 2 jokers. This opens up a lot of options. More on enemy activation in time!

Dev 2: So the base set characters are locked in. I will say this is still in alpha so things can change, like some of the expansion characters. Like Lapp said though Gadgets can be used by anyone! Mad Scientist though will know how to get a bit more out of them then the usual cowpoke. So no Mad Scientist is no in the core set, but I can say you will see some gadgets.

Gundam is honestly pretty cheap to build and likely will be cheap to keep up with. Buy each new starter as they drop (15USD), Buy a box per set at MSRP (150USD).

Between selling/trading LRs and Alt Arts you don't want for ones you DO want, plus if you actively play getting packs/promos,ect from your weeklies will bolster your bulk and trades.

How are you doing that with scalpers and low product availability?

Guys, my Char card looks a little off.

First art lets her grab energy from the discard pile, second one dumps them all. She's basically a Pokemon TCG fire type.

Well mastery packs are off to an abysmal start. For one, they're sold in cases of 8 half sized boxes rather than your draft set 4 full boxes. What that means is there's a greater chance for each box to be seriously bad, like 2 majestics bad. So your odds of getting a shit box in draft set are mostly fair, but due to collation there's an increased risk that 2 half sized boxes are misses. For example out of 8 boxes you could have 3 terrible ones as opposed to the expected 1 from draft. So swingier pulls coupled with the fact the set has terrible design composition; the only two guardians that are eating good from this set are the brand new Valda and the already decent Victor. Bravo, Betsy, Jarl, Terra, Yoji; all of these heroes are capable of playing with these cards but they have almost no synergy with them. So what was suppose to be a huge boost to an entire class ended up as favoring only two heroes in the end and making a minor splash with its quirky generics everywhere else.

This is truly the first and only auto-skip from me since the game has come out. If I wanted to play Valda I'd just buy the singles, which have significantly fucked pull ratios. We're talking multiple cases not guaranteeing playsets of rares here bad.

I think LSS needed this as a wake-up call because it's exposing the problem with their class supporting model. Nothing they learn from this will be felt for at least a year though, as those sets are already well through the development pipeline and are preparing for print by now. One can only hope the next mastery pack they have planned is a huge improvement, otherwise the product is dead in the water and will promptly be abandoned.

Sounds par for course for LSS post-BL. The value is concentrated at the top and entirely mechanically unique cards, which means cracking packs is a terrible experience, decks are stupid expensive, and your meta deck is fully replaced in a set or two by the new hotness.

The whale hunting will eventually lead to extinction. Playerbase near me (Boston metro) is a quarter the size it was when Heavy Hitters dropped, if even that. Went from being able to play any night a week at a 6+ player armory event somewhere within an hour of the city center, to only one in three of those stores still having events on the books and 50/50 any given night that they'll hit the minimum 4 to fire.

It's a shame, I liked the game. But parasitic set design and every new set being overtuned has ruined a pretty good thing.

Zanzibar is good in mono Zeon that stays at or below Lvl 4. Zanzibar is only going to get stronger as more good Zeon cards are released. Famel is better if you are mixing in Neo-Zeon or Amuro, but then you should be running Corsica instead with Amuro. Yes Zanzibar sucks to top deck, but you are either have own by then or are about to lose.

Same. I honestly don't even know what to do, but I feel less inclined to participate with the game each new season. Sadly that means I'm just getting further and further behind in brewing and testing. Not seeing it trend towards the better, quite the opposite really. Difficult to pinpoint what I want to see us make, but as a general question:
I like to see games that support small buy in and limited play, it's in contrast to something that requires a complete collection of an LCG to get all the options or buying cases of sealed product hunting for one or more cards. I was really inspired by the anon who brought up Pirates Of the Spanish Main, their little tagline of "all you need to play the game is this very pack" is quite exciting. While not a card game, experiences like Mage Knight and also Monsterpocalypse had randomized packs of combatants, with their stats cleverly stapled to their bases, but you had to build a team out of that, or possibly multiple packs. That "make do with what you opened" mentality can be really fun. It's why I like limited play experiences so much.

Spit balling here but in a game where brainstorm effects are a given every turn is somewhat interesting. I think it could even inform game design a bit. So you get to look at a set amount of cards, keep only a few to add to your hand and put the rest back in any order of your choosing; this action lends itself nicely to followup actions comboing off of it with "reveal top of deck, if X do Y" and similar top-deck effects. You're acting, and each of you flip a card over from the top of deck to see who wins a gambit effect.

Defender draws up at the end of their turn, puts cards back on top of their deck. Next player's turn, they launch an action, flip cards from top of deck, if you revealed the called out card per an effect, play it or get a bonus -- that type of stuff springs to mind with "how do we make brainstorm interesting?"

Just make Warhammer but as a card game. I like physical representations of the creatures I summon on the battlefield so it's a true tabletop card game. Each starter deck has a 40 card deck and 10 figures you can assemble and customize to your liking. Summoning a monster also allows you to put their figure on the board and you can cast spells to give them stat bonuses or cast equipment that have their own physical figures to align with them on the battlefield as well. (Giant Steel Sword equipped to my Gearwork Colossus gives him 1500 bonus points and then you can put it on an attachment point on the figure if it's compatible)

We should start with how players can play cards. Are there resource cards in the main deck? (Magic, Pokemon, and Neopets) Is there a separate resource deck? (One Piece and Force of Will) Can any card be used as a resource? (WoW TCG, FAB, and Grand Archive) Can you just play cards but with some kind of limit? (Warlord, Digimon, and Yugioh) I am sure there are other options and even ones not explored before, but this is what I could think of.

Personally I prefer how the WoW TCG does it (any card can be played face down and tapped for (1) to play cards, Quest/Location cards are played as resources face up with effects you can activate or that are on-going, ramping is just taking cards from other zones and putting them face down as a resource) Just seems like a good design space. We can figure out everything else later once this is decided.

Seems like they went the battle type route, both players have 4 leader cards and the deck consists of Memoria cards that buff a leader's attack and other effects, and Attack cards which are what actually let you attack a designated leader. You get a flat 3 points (PP) for resource, and for any points you don't use during your turn, you draw a card during the end phase, in addition to the 1 card draw at the start of your turn. The game seems to be a best of 3, and after each round you increase the amount of PP you can use (round 2 plays with 4 PP, round 3 plays with 5). There's also a Tactics deck, which I assume work like Arts in Wixross. I've tested about 8 different decks across ~80 games on lorcanito and can't find one hitting more than 50/50 - though some of that is that I've never really played sapphire so have to git gud with those decks. But I'd like to be able to plug into the zeitgeist before mid September when results from bigger fabled tourneys show up.

It would but economics rightfully prevents it. MSRP is about 110 for a box of Gundam but the secondary market knows you can pull about 150 worth of value out of the box so the market has settled at around 175-190 for a box. So now every box is a loss unless you can get it for a MSRP

That's the opposite of what they should be doing. Getting the older heroes huge power boosts on top of LL modifiers will clean fucking house. By making only new heroes contenders they do nothing but bloat the roster as time goes on. Without the LL changes Gravy would be half way to retirement by now.

Agreed, though I'm thinking I might set the illegal cards aside as a side board, in case there are any Infinity format tourneys at my LGs. At least, for the decks that I don't have to drastically change. There are at least a few that have lost over 1/3 of the deck.
(Though one deck suffered very little, only losing 2 cards, but it was a Racer themed deck, so most of that tribe's relevant cards are pretty recent.)

I'm thinking of trying out One Piece local tourny about Gundam tomorrow. I haven't played OP TCG yet even though I've bought a ton of it.

What kind of deck can I build? I have ST21 x2 (G5 Luffy), ST27 x2 (Blackbeard), ST25 x2 (Buggy) as starter decks. I've also gotten a couple boxes of EB-02, Royal Blood, and Two Legends each. I've also got a box of OP-12 which just came out.

For SRs, I don't really have a 4x set of any, mostly only 2x of some like Mihawk, Reiju, Garp, Shirahoshi from OP-12

Do people build custom FAB cubes? Like putting together heroes from different sets?

It's very good at transporting the characteristics and abilities of the anime characters into a bamco style game. The amount of unique characters in that IP is also fucking crazy. A lot of people got into that game without ever reading or watching One Piece mostly because of all the crazy character designs they saw on the cards.
