TQ: Have you ever built a deck that you knew was going to be trash but completed it anyway? Did you enjoy the experience?

Why is it the higher bracket you go the less the game is focused around creatures and combat? It seems like cedh shit is practically empty on creatures that actually want to turn sideways

I enjoy the flavor of this guy a lot, and really dig the station mechanic.
How would you build a spaceship deck, /edhg/?
Or alternatively, how would you best take advantage of his effect?
I'm currently putting him together as psuedo Spaceship/Artifact tribal and it's been pretty fun so far.

Not to stray too far off topic but I am a bit of a financial gambler and travel to a lot of companies for work
in the last 12 months I have not visited a single publicly company that made me go, "yeah this is worth investing in".
100% of the time I look into a great company, it's privately held. In the past I have been able to beat the index funds by a percent or two by picking winners based on my travels but so far this year I have made no additional purchases.
Maybe that's just my industry, maybe I havent been to as many new customers this year as previous years, or maybe it hints at a trend of publicly traded companies being kind of shitholes.

Actually, having played against the Jund precon it is very potent out of the box with extremely minimal effort, especially if you get that bug from the set that is just a self contained land engine.
Not only that, the Jeskai precon has some pretty nutty reprints if you do any kind of proliferation, if you need the cards in the decks they're great value, and even if you didn't, the precon reprinting them in the first place almost slashed their prices in half.

Are you me? I have the exact sort of relationship with the host of my playgroup, he literally calls me his Nemesis, perfectly chill otherwise, every other game he's fine, but in Magic he zeroes in on me. It's gotten to the point where, to make sure I survive his onslaught, my decks power are a fair bit more powerful than everyone else's. It's rather annoying because now I'm the "good player with strong decks" and I can't even power down and play jank because either he'll floor me or everyone else prevents me from playing, for fear my deck is secretly powerful. usually it's cards in a penny sleeve in a toploader or cardboard shipping sleeve, inside an envelope. occasionally penny sleeves inside one of those big, soft plastic, not-a-toploaders. once, someone stuffed some draft commons in with an order of two cards in a penny sleeve inside a toploader so they wouldn't shift around.
usually the toploaders have scotch tap over the opening the short way, which is really annoying to get off the plastic, so I just toss those.

Ironically it was with Oros. Built him as superfriends. It was a fun process, looking for ways to make oros's ability keep the board clear of shitters so that i could ult the pws safely. All my creatures had to be white to avoid the nuke, but i also needed a lot of lands and ramp. It was a neat idea, but it's undeniably dogshit.

I think the first one that jumps out at me is Marchesa's Infiltrator. Now, it synergizes pretty well, adds counters, becomes unblockable just from attacking the guy with the most life, but in a deck where 99% of your strategy is getting stuff in unblockable with Rikku.
Reality Chip I'm assuming you're using for the topdeck stuff, but I may recommend Crystal Skull (despite its higher cost) for being a noncreature spell for Flux Channeler, there's also Extraplanar Lens for doubling mana output (especially if you swap to snow-basics), there's also Skatewing Spy and Herald of Secret Streams for +1/+1 counter synergy and blanket keywords instead of Atraxa's Skitterfang type things. Insight Engine is really good surprisingly, whenever I get it out people quickly need to remove it or I start to draw quickly.

You have to accrue 120 Power, and that's not taking into account blocking damage and things like lifegain. Now factor in that typically the most powerful creatures you can play at a decent curve have 4-6 power and most of the time they can't attack the same turn you play them. This means that in order to put pressure on players to actually present as a threat you have to either play high cost high damage creatures that are vulnerable to removal or you go wide with lots of smaller cheaper creatures that need a board state with artifacts and enchantments to buff them up and protect them because at any moment someone can play a wipe that totally erases turns worth of mana and cards in a moment - which means you will be going even slower because every protection spell and mana you hold up JUST IN CASE is one less creature you could be putting on the field to turn sideways. Thus, unless you build an extremely fast deck with some of the more powerful creature commanders like Baylin or Jetmir, you're committing to a slow grind that can be brought to a screeching halt at any moment if you Don't Just Have It to stop removal or stax pieces going up. And God help you if you run out of gas and get fucked for draw after removal.

Contrast even a high cost combo like Sanguine Bond+Exquisite Blood. You just sit in your corner building mana, maybe putting something or two on the board just to defend yourself, removing and countering threats as needed, then once you hit your needed mana all you need to do is play card X+card Y and if they stick - which is easy when all you have to worry about is protection - it's just GG.

Damage strategies rely on racing toward 120 (damage) spread among 3 people that can slow or reverse the number. Combo strategies rely on racing toward 4-5 (mana) and only removal can stop it. Combo is gay and boring but if your goal is to win games (which is the whole point of cEDH) playing any other deck is fucking retarded.

Reality chip is for topdecking, yes. I considered extraplanar lens, but from my experience running it in dragonhawk, it's usually a free 2-for-1 for your opponents if it ever gets destroyed. I'm a bit wary about it as a result, since riku can't make the best use of it in a single turn like drawk can. Harold of Secret Streams doesn't apply counters, so I'm a bit iffy, but I'll try him out. Atraxa's skitter is there because it comes in with counters already to be a proliferation target, but if you think it's trash, I'll cut it.
As for the names... Idk. I've never played ffx, I'm playing through the ff4 3d remake for the first time right now and it's kicking my ass. Shit's pretty fucked ngl. I'm still learning about the series, but I started with 4 because golbez is so cool

Now, if you need the draw engine and just plan to put counters on him, that's fine, but you could much more benefit from a Coastal Piracy type effect so it's everything and not just that one creature
and yeah, I suggested killing Skitter because it's just another type of counter to follow and not all that good when Skatewing and Herald exist, you know?

I used to play when I was a high school student back in 2015-16. Me and a friend would play casual tribal or gimmmick decks that we'd put together with our leftover allowance money.

I had a crappy (by today's standards) Jor Kadeen deck with lots of weenies, artifacts, and support for those artifacts.

That's not really an option depending on what you need the legendary creature for. For instance, I really want to see Oketra The True when I play Odric Lunarch Marshal, but I wouldn't want to play Oketra as the commander. The two keywords she gives the board are incredible when working with Odric and that she can also make vigilance soldiers is great too. These keywords do a lot in Odric but wouldn't do as much if I tried to play Oketra herself. If I already have Oketra then I can dig up Myrel, Mangara, or the other Odric too. All of which would be useful. Finds Akroma Vision Of Ixidor too for a game ender. None of which give anywhere near the same deck feel as Odric. Eventually I guess it also gives flying which is a plus too? Haven't had the time to really test The Seriema to see if it would play out well in the deck well or if I'd be able to station it with any consistency to get that flying, but I see where it could be useful at least.

Should i build infect as my second deck? I played casually back mirrodin/new phyrexia was coming out and thought it was a really cool mechanic.

Been using this guy as my commander and he's pretty great. Very easy to cast to turn on FG and Swat. Gives 5c access but doesn't die to NEB. My LGS finally started catching on to the fact my b3 Kenrith deck is way stronger than their decks so he has been taking a lot of the heat off despite being the same deck.

Just luck of the draw sometimes. Worst I’ve seen is lands for curling. Foil etched doesn’t seem to curl at all and some look top tier and they’re usually cheaper than reg foils.

There's no defender/toughness deck that exists that can accommodate both of these and that makes me sad.
