TQ: 5 days to SDCC, last call for your hopes, fears, expectations and wishlist.
The Great Muta finally gives that first Skeletor head a purpose
>>11495284 (OP)>TQPlease give us the gimmicks intact for vintage dudes. Please let thundercats be a worthy successor to ToG. Please let the movie be good.
>>11495296Damnit Anon, why didn't you post this an hour earlier in the last thread, i'd have made it the OP
>>11495284 (OP)>TQ: 5 days to SDCC, last call for your hopes, fears, expectations and wishlist.>Hopes:CC Princess Adora and Swiftwind
CC Marlena and Randor
CC Sorceress
More CC PoP characters in general
More CC He-man characters in general
Vintage Two-Bad
Vintage Dragstor
A new Thundercats wave of figures we haven't seen or leaked yet
>Fears:Origins and Mastererse take a back seat while they go full marketing on the new movie, already have 6 toy lines ready for the movie that will clog shelves for years
No other She-Ra anniversary releases
Club Grayskull memberships gets more greedy
No Vintage releases announced
>Expectations:New CC figures that are a mix of literal who's and much needed characters
A couple new Vintage releases, including Two-Bad
A couple new Thundercats figures
200X Origins line announced
DC collab. announced and previewed
Movie stuff teased but very little shown
>>11495297I think that first fear can be laid to rest.
If Extendar, Sy-klone, Rio, Hurricane Hordak and Rokkon all retained theirs after the move to MC, I think we can be pretty sure the rest will as well (except the spring arms on Two Bad and Blade)
>>11495304Sorry, was about to post it in the now old thread when I saw we had a new one. Muta was such a pain in the ass to find at Walmart today for his mist breath
>>11494893>The isekai thing I think would've landed better IF they had at least acknowledged the lore from other sources about his mom being from Earth. He's half earthling, he grew up hearing stories about Earth, it's so weird that those elements are stripped from the version that actually VISITS Earth, you know? From what I understand the movie is based strictly on the toys themselves. He-Man being half-Earthling was from the Filmation cartoon, which they were ignoring.
>Also Julie sucks. Kevin and Lubic were both useful and funny in varying degrees, Julie was just awfulShe was pretty, back in the 80s that used to be enough.
>>11495296But He-Man and She-Ra are twins!
>>11495284 (OP)2 vintage figures, both this year.
Also, maybe Strobo and Plasmar finally?
It's not gonna happen, but you know what'd be really unexpected and sell me completely on TC collab?
Screeeech Man
>TQ: 5 days to SDCC, last call for your hopes, fears, expectations and wishlist.Hopes/wishlist:

What
>>11495306 said.
>>11495519>AdoraYes. I know why it's the case, but even as a kid it always bugged me how rare it is to get figures of characters in their "civilian" clothes. I think the most common is Peter Parker, and even then a lot of the time the figure was either doing the half Spidey mask thing, or had the costume exposed under his shirt.
>>11495519You'll have to forgive me, I know it's YOUR wishlist but...virtually ALL PoP? No Sorceress, no Kobra Khan, no Fisto? And what good is a Marlena without her appropriate Randor?
I get that PoP fans are habitually left out in the cold, but all things considered, it just feels wrong to omit some of those guys from CC, with what CCs main focus has been until now...
>>11495536>You'll have to forgive me, I know it's YOUR wishlist but...virtually ALL PoP? No Sorceress, no Kobra Khan, no Fisto? And what good is a Marlena without her appropriate Randor?I've been mixing the new characters into the regular Origins collection. To get more MotU characters redone as their Filmation versions, we could have more waves.
>>11495455I don't know why, but I have this sneaking suspicion Plasmar and Strobo are gonna be Club Grayskull exclusives after the 3rd Preternia guy gets made.
>>11495557Fuck I wish. So far Club Grayskull has been more like Club Gayshit.
TQ
>hopesClub Grayskull and the Mattel Creations store is totally revamped. Store exclusives now available. Mattel offering up old stock...less Geldor tote bags and Syklone mugs.
Based New Adventures in Origins. They don't need to "complete vintage" cherry pick all you want. I'll take what I can get.
If we are getting more crossovers, its with Lost World of the Warlord
>fearsMore exclusives that I will never see. Half assed crossover announced.
>expectationsNo one will be satisfied with anything
>wishlistStrobo, Plasmar, Goat Man
Madame Raz, Glimmer, Seahawk, Sunder
Wrap Trap, Dylamug
>>11495761>Fuck I wish. So far Club Grayskull has been more like Club GayshitIsn't that a good thing? If the club is shit, and the things you want ARENT part of the club, you save yourself money.
I would think you'd wish for Plasmar and Strobo to not be part of the club and just be a regular release like Rio Blast and Despara and the rest.
>expectationsKek. Accurate
Question are there any other companies that do replacement heads for MOTU figures? Specifically straight pop-and-swap type heads that don't need paint? I want to replace the head on my Masterverse She-Ra because the head looks weird on it.
>>11495775I already spent the money for the first year and now I want something to make me feel like it was money well spent. Finishing up the Lost 88 would do it for me.
>>11495789>already spent the moneyAh. Yeah, that'd do it.
I'm personally waiting to see if CG gives something REALLY good. For me, it'll need to be something we've never seen before and/or unlikely to ever see again to hook me. I don't think I need to write a list of shit that'd fall in that category.
Characters like He-Ro and Strobo that we will undoubtedly see again, if not in Origins than in future lines, don't sound like anything worth plonking down extra cash for
>>11495810You are right...I convinced myself that since it was a small amount of money I didn't mind, hoping to be pleasantly surprised.
Honestly, I just wish they would send me a box of toys a couple times a year. Chasing stuff down is what bothers me most about this hobby.
>>11495784There was a Mexican selling hand painted pieces on eBay a few years ago, but everything else is either an unpainted cast resin or 3d print
>But I'm open to any ideas, same as Joe. If they come off well, I'd pick up a few.
>As someone who was a kid in the late 80s/ early 90s, it's hard to express how foreign and off the NA toys were from what we knew as He-Man
Late reply but I dove through the archive just to find a few pics. I cant agree with you enough. It seems like they wanted to split the difference between GI Joe and He-man in both scale and design, but ultimately landed in a no man's land between the two that failed to target either audience. It's a betrayal of MOTU just as it is a poor excuse for a GI Joe competitor. Which is ultimately why the Mutants (and the vehicles/playsets) stand out so much. They're not at all "MOTU" but they're damn fun nonetheless.
Alot of these could easily stand to be repurposed for either the Joes or Heroic Warriors. I can see the tie in comics going into detail about the Joes forming some sort of Eternian exploration division or something that end up all being super bulky and swole because of the environment or something.
Kind of funny to think Mattel was chasing the GI Joe purple dragon at a time when even GI Joe was trying (and failing) to remain just as relevant as He-man and Transformers were. As I understand things more ARAH diehards hate the DIC continuation of the Sunbow series. Alot of weird changes were made and I think they do eventually go to space. Plenty of comparisons to be made between it and NA, down to the 1990 debut.
Pic related and the following image really sold me on the idea of a Joe crossover. It'd also be a golden opportunity to do something wholy exclusive to Origins in a way we havent really seen since Moaty or Frogmonger. God know Classics never dug this deep. Then again Classics never covered TMNT or concept sketches.
This image really does sell the idea overall. It's the exact sort of thing that comes to mind when I think MOTU ร GI Joe. This is the culmination of Eternian tech coming into the hands of Cobra.
Also Battle Bear. Any excuse to get this guy in thr line.
>>11496014>High Energy Military Attack Nucleus
>>11496039>Military grade shitposting
>>11496022I want this one.
>>11495761Come on, He-Ro, Sharella and Eldor are like leftover vintage (sans two-bad). not everyone wants them but there are still high demand for many fans.
>>11495810Even if he's 100% parts reuse I think it's optimistic to assume Strobo will keep coming back. He's not Anti-Eternia He-Man.
You know I didn't minded some New Eternia figures being almost identical to vintage but now that vintage collection is thing, its feels realy really pointless.
Case in point, compare this fresh leak and tell me how different it is from NE-MAA.
I swear, Mattel is stress-testing how far they can go with selling us the same guy with different banner. I think Classics rarely ever did something like that.
>>11496050Zodac is in every single line and Sy-klone is popular enough to be semi-recurring, Strobo will definitely be back. Not in every single line, im not that foolish, but the only way we won't is if Zodac and Sy-klone both never appear in the same line together again. Do you think that's likely to happen?
Most of the rest of 88, sure, theres good reason to maybe think Origins will be the last time they appear. Like theres no reason to assume a future line will cover both Horde and Snakes, and even if they did, no guarantee that Trooper and Rattlor would both make the cut, so maybe Snake Trooper is gone for good, but Strobo has the good fortune of being made of characters more likely to appear together. The only guy more likely than Strobo to come back is Slamurai for obvious reasons.
>>11496080The problem isn't parts reuse it's that he's a really minor character in grand scheme.
We had toylines since Classics like Loyal Subjects. Funko, Mega Construx that ignored him.
We'll get plenty that will only touch vintage and few Filmation.
We'll get lines dedicated to movie and new cartoon.
And then we'll get detailed MOTU lines like Masterverse where sticking to vintage accuracy and making everything parts reuse looks tacky
I mean, if you dont know and care about character, he's literally Sy-Klone repainted to look like a naked guy (sounds like a certain peg warmer?) with Zodac's head and cape. Hardly the same sale as evil version of He-Man or widely-recognized reuses like Stinkor.
I mean by your logic we would be drowning in ZodaKs, much more popular character with ZodaC's head.
>>11496080Terroar and Plasmar are the most extreme examples:
Trap Jaw always gets made, but Rattlor AND Mosquitor, plus Whiplash's head?
Sssqueeze, Rio Blast and He-Ro together (with Fisto's head)?
>>11496097The fact that Origins has been skipping Zodak since 2021 is baffling.
Sidenote, were cardback art for all of '88 wave revealed? I could swear I saw somewhere for Slamurai.
Side note 2, if Strobo reuses Sy-Klone's arms, where are his fins? It's not like in vintage they could just change upper biceps.
>>11496097I think you're exaggerating what I'm saying.
Im only saying that we will eventually see Strobo again. I even literally acknowledged that I DONT think he'll be in every line, but at some point he'll be back in SOME line because he's too easy even compared to the rest of 88.
And the cases your bringing up to refute it...two of those lines don't even have Sy-klone, of course they won't have Strobo, the other is a licensed novelty brand, not even Mattel, that's naturally only going to focus on big names, and Zodak requires actual new tooling that Strobo doesn't and that's why you aren't "drowning" in them. And that choice of words is how I know your exaggerating what I said if my logic makes you think of that market being flooded with any given character.
>>11496118Oh, one point I forgot to add, just for added context, I don't expect an MV Strobo even though it has both Sy-klone and Zodac, because that line to date doesn't seem like a "minor character" line, so I don't fully disagree with everything you said about Strobo, I just think you're wrong if you think he's unlikely to recur after Origins.
>>11496097>Mega Construx that ignored (Sy-Klone)I'm still salty that Mattel canceled this line. Maybe I'm one of a rare few who wanted every character in this scale, but it's the only way for the playsets to be big enough to hold everyone in their factions, and the little vehicles are more fun than full size ones unless they recreate the vintage battery-powered features (they won't).
>>11496113Question 1: https://battleramblog.com/motu-cardbacks-1988/
Here they are
Question 2: I chalk it up to artistic license. Or maybe it's a Stinkor situation where the art gave him Beast Man limbs but the figure had different ones. Maybe actual toy Strobo would've had basic He-Man arms or something
>>11496118Alright fine. Assuming MOTU will keep doing well as it does and not into another slumber, one of these days, Strobo has a good chance to happen again.
But saying that Stobo isn't worth cash because we might see him in who knows how long time. with no way of knowing in what shape, form or quality he'll appear again? For all we know 8 years from now he'll get some funko pop thing or 5poa and gets forgottten for next 5 years.
>>11496137>Stobo isn't worth cash because we might see him in who knows how long time. with no way of knowing in what shape, form or quality he'll appear againYes
>Axel Sex: "they should rerelease Snake Mountain as *MY* version, that *I* drew, and replace all the non-snake elements with more snakes!"
>Axel Sez: "they should rerelease Snake Mountain as *MY* version, that *I* drew, and replace all the non-snake elements with more snakes!"
>>11496255It would be funny if they completely canned the snake lair and just released this as their Origins snake headquarters.
>>11496255I've said it before, but the correct playset for displaying the Snake Men would be a base that the Evil Warriors playset mounts on top of, adding the base of Snake Mountain with the deeper level where Skeletor/Kobra Khan released them from a mystic pool.
>>11496321I just realized why they used Laser Light Skeletor for this.
On that note, which is more important to you guys?
1. Snake Mountain is small enough to be offered affordably at retail and any improvements over the vintage toy are within that limit (how Origins did it).
2. Snake Mountain is actually big enough to display all 21+ Evil Warriors?
>>11496333I want option 1 to get it and make it the center piece and based for making option 2 myself, like picrel
I've also been kicking around and idea for a Snake Mountain interior diorama since Origins began, but don't currently have space for it (and don't really want to set space aside until the get the full host of EWs I wanna fill it with)
>>11496360Post more of that display
>>11496022I hate military anything because it's so generic. Not the bear, though. I wish they kept that idea
>>11496022>>11496399I want to see a corresponding Skeletor on a flocked purple bear.
>>11496388https://www.reddit.com/r/MastersOfTheUniverse/comments/w0su6c/more_motu_room_pics_as_promised_all_of_these_are/
>>11496399Still, Battle Bear and the living monster tank both provide a solid bounding board for ideas. The entire effort should be a tiny bit tongue in cheek but largely played straight. Cobra somehow establishes contact with the Evil Warriors via some reverse engineered cosmic key of sorts, they unite forces, and subsequently suprise blitzkreig the other's respective foes after exchanging notes. In turn the Heroic Warriors and Joes would have to do the same. Cue Commando-esque suiting up sequence with He-man, Duke, and friends going full on action hero. Maybe the power sword is reformed into a gun or something too. All the vehicles could also adopt this sort of medieval look. It wouldnt be straight up military or medieval fantasy, but something unique between the two. Also the Snake Men are there.
>>11496014Thanks for coming through with these. I chuckled about high energy military attack nucleus all day. Pure genius. Probably the best idea here, excluding the bear.
>>11496020Blessed image. There is so much based, big dick energy here.
>>11496022Fuck yeah. This is cool. Didn't Mattel have some art for the same idea with barbarian He-Man riding a gorilla, maybe it was Gygor? They should make a Shadow Beast that Evil Warriors can ride.
>>11496017>>11496019This is where the idea kind of breaks down for me. I think they could make a Future Warrior He-Man variant that lean into the guns and tech. But the most common complaint against New Adventures is that the heroes are so generic. I think Icarus and Hydron are more interesting than these guys and they are generally considered boring and lame.
>>11496424> Also the Snake Men are there. You stop yourself could you Axel
>Cue Commando-esque suiting up sequence with He-man, Duke, and friendsThis is what would make the military angle work. Getting into that 80s action schlock vibes.
>>11496063The thing with vintage MV is that, it's Walmart exclusives. So unless you have WM in you area or country, these won't be showing up anywhere else, except maybe ROSS.
>>11496424>Cobra somehow establishes contact with the Evil Warriors>Also the Snake Men are there.Just have them meet Skeletor and the Snake Men. The Evil Warriors have very little synergy with Cobra or anything modern military, but Skeletor is the face of the brand and him being on Team Snake Men has precedent.
>>11496480>Didn't Mattel have some art for the same idea with barbarian He-Man riding a gorilla, maybe it was Gygor?I dont have the full image but yeah I can confirm there was a Gygor variation of Battle Bear at one point. Not long after they'ed designed Beastman either. As I recall there was an evolution in designing Beastman that began with a similarly armored bear, then a big jim gorilla being painted read and decked out in armor (pic related), then Beastman proper, then Gygor proper. Shame they never committed, Gygor was always awesome.
>They should make a Shadow Beast that Evil Warriors can rideBASED
>>11496481>This is what would make the military angle work. Getting into that 80s action schlock vibes Exactly!
That's why I argue you'd need a fully kitted out He-man in camo for something like this. The very premise necesitates it. Where the Galactic Guardians went wrong is having exactly none of that military grit. They all feel like great value brand capeshitters or early 90's gimmick GI Joes like the Eco Force. Fwiw I believe a happy compromise could be made with Combat He-man. Maybe all the guns have Eternian styled details embedded into them. I keep thinking of something like a Battle Cat head with an open mouth at the tip of the gun. I want to see the power sword updated somehow too. Maybe a nod to either NA or Laser Light...
I insist the snakes need to be an integral part of this. Unlike TMNT, GI Joe has actual Sneg villains. The whole animated film revolves around a civilization of sneg people secretly living in the himilayas conducting gay ops on humanity.Excluding the Snake Men would be silly!
Just as bad as it was to exclude the Horde from the TMNTline... God I wish they had reserved a whole wave to just the Horde and Dimension X/Lord Dregg.
>>11496543That works too. There's precedent to the Snake Men being Skeley's minions after all, we can just work with it. Maybe get a King Hiss possessed Skeletor out of it?
>>11496559much appreciated. God to get Gygor and the PoG dinos...
>MotU recycled Big Jim's tiger
>And his eagle
>And almost his gorilla
But those weren't the only Big Jim animals. Not only should they have not scrapped Gygor in the 80s, they should've adapted the Big Jim alligator with a wild neon paint job. This thing would've made a great pet for Skeletor
>>11496572Big Jim also had a rhino that would've made a serviceable mount for someone
>>11496559Yeah weird that they kept going back to this idea and not doing anything with it.
>SDCC wishMattel announces Gygor as the 3rd PoG figure.
After that the next MC figure is Military He-Man and Battle Bear as the Grayskull exclusive.
Great Black Wizard with red gorilla. Who would go with a Shadow Beast? Or maybe just alone so they can be army builder for Skeletor.
>>11496399If it was straight military/elite unit stuff it probably would have have failed super hard trying to compete with G.I.Joe. I think one of the main appeals of MOTU is the fusion of different things. Sword and sorcery with sci-fi. If Mattel wanted to do a military theme I guess the smart thing to do would be to do heavy sci-fi with a sprinkling of fantasy, which I guess was basically what New Adventures was (I haven't actually watched it).
Maybe they could make it that Aliens invade Eternia and He-Man has his magical stuff, but characters like Man-At-Arms and Teela need to start using laser guns and wearing sci-fi armour?
>>11496572https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hZ-vxKwFrFU
Even Brick Mantooth mentioned thst in his review of that set. If you think about it Mattel arguably repurposed that snap n slither gimmick formtheir jurassic park/world toys.
>>11496671I dont know if anyone at Mattel ever decided on where Gygor's allegiance laid. All the concept art pairs him up with He-man, but he could just as easily have been an evil warrior. Pairing Gygor with the Great Black Wizard (god I wish they'ed come up with a better name than that, something like "SCAPULAR") would be such an easy sell. Same with GI He-Man and Battle Bear. Shadoe Beast repaints could make for a great e-tail exclusive too. Pack in an obscure Skeletor variant or maybe offer them in army builder sets of two, and bob's your uncle.
>>11496694That's the elephant in the room with New Adventures. Mattel was desperate to get MOTU back on it's feet, and quickly the decision boiled down to " He-man in Space". The groundwork for that much had been laid in the last releases of 1988, with Laser Power He-man and Laser Light Skeletor. As Mattel grew increasingly desperate (right after the failure of the Cannon film adaption, and both Captain Power and Bravestar flopping) they urged their designers to cook up newer fresher ideas. Thus the plan shifted to ape GI Joe. Yet they never stopped to pump the breaks on the Sci-fi direction. Presumably they had yesteryear's successes with Star Wars on the mind and went ahead with it anyways. From there it just coalesced into a half-baked mess of influences that never really came together right.
It's not really Star Wars, it's not really GI Joe, and it definitely isnt MOTU. Instead it all results in an japanimated saturday morning Flash Gordon ripoff with He-Man's name slapped onto it. Ironic considering Mattel's history with Flash. But having dropped the MOTU monicker, many of the familiar faces, AND entered the 1990's on the back of a pulp sci-fi throwback? It just never had a chance in hell.
For something like that to work in the 90's it would have had to take alot of cues from DOOM. And obviously it didnt.
>Maybe they could make it that Aliens invade Eternia and He-Man has his magical stuff, but characters like Man-At-Arms and Teela need to start using laser guns and wearing sci-fi armourHonestly shifting gears to an outright Horde Invasion would have made for the essiest transition. Hasbro more or less did that with GI Joe across the same time span. Sticking to the clsssic proportions but going all in on poseable bodies with Spiral Zone/Aliens styled armor could have gone over well too. But again they were really deadset on pulp scifi for whatever reason.
>>11496735>But again they were really deadset on pulp scifi for whatever reason.Maybe every time they came up with a new idea the conversation ended up with "but is this true to He-Man?" and they just boxed themselves in. Which is a shame because a few years later mutants and aliens would be all the rage. The funny thing is it's not like it can't work, Krull is literally an alien invasion movie set in a sword and sorcery world.
>>11496750The more you comb over that 5 year window of planning the more frustrating it all gets. In the end I honestly think some sort of amalgamation of both NA and Filmation's He-Ro, Son of He-man pitch should have been the answer. He-Ro looked much MUCH more in-line with 80's MOTU but had some baked in 90's comic book grunge to keep it relevant with kids of the day. Establishing He-Ro as a sequel to Filmation He-man also means they could have gotten away with a bigger focus on sci-fi and tech in a less intrusive and disorienting way to boot, all while remaining somewhat familiar to older fans ala Beast Wars. But they rushed headlong into uncertainty and it didnt pay off, and worse than that, they gave up right after.
TMNT, Batman, Spiderman, and Transformers usually go through these boom and bust periods that last 4 to 5 years. It gives them a chance to reorient their plans and get shit up and running again. For whatever reason Mattel was content with giving up for the rest of the decade!
NA should have gone the way of Zardoz. He-man receives a signal from his mother's home planet after finding her old space gear. A futuristic, dystopian Earth He-man attempts to free from enslavement while also trying to piece together what happened to have this world fall down such a dark path. Meanwhile Skeletor and a handful of Evil Warriors follow He-man to Earth and attempt to conquer a world ready for the taking.
>>11496787It's surprising Mattel never tried to copy their copycats. He-man easily could have cribbed the whole post-apocalyptic sci-fi barbarian angle from Thundarr years later but they never did. Weirder still is how Warner owns both Thundarr and Thundercats, but does nothing with Thundarr proper!
Free my nigga Thundarr!
>>11496783I really like TMNT and Thundercats but I just wasn't interested in the crossover figures. Now if they just released these Flash Gordon figures on Origins bucks without the need to remix them I'd buy them all. The same goes for Blackstar. I'd love them but only if they match the vintage style of the existing Origins line, not look like an entirely different toy-line like Thundercats.
>>11495784>Question are there any other companies that do replacement heads for MOTU figures?https://www.ebay.com/str/barbarossacustoms
>>11496705Scooter made him an Evil Warrior in Classics.
Also, "Great Black Wizard" sounds like one of those placeholder names, like how in vintage Ted Mayer called his Roboto concept "Transparent Man", and then marketing gave the concepts their proper names.
>>11496824I think Turtles handled the crossover idea better than Thundercats. Thundercats shouldnt have aimed for the same angle as the turtles. I've made the same point previously but the choice not to just make a simple reuse heavy wave of origins styled Cats was and still is a massive blunder, and I'm largely unhappy with the way they came out in the end.
As for Gordon and Blackstar, I've remained insistent on Mattel going all in on establishing a wing of Origins that exists solely to incorporate 3rd party IP into the MOTUO format. An entire line just for continuous crossovers. Everybody from Thundarr to Rambo to Earthworm Jim, just for the hell of it.
>>11496960Yeah I suspected he'd done as much. It does btw. Maybe they already have a name in mind or they'll just apply some already trademarked name to the character off some HW car.
>>11496970>Maybe they already have a name in mind or they'll just apply some already trademarked name to the character off some HW car.I doubt it. They wouldn't have called him "Great Black Wizard" in the Sharella minicomic if they had a proper name, they'd have used the proper name, so I think GBW is what they're going to officially go with.
(I'd have have gone full cheesy and tacky and called the villain Villainus to mirror the hero being He-Ro)
>>11496983They should have just used his name from the NES game.
>>11496983>(I'd have have gone full cheesy and tacky and called the villain Villainus to mirror the hero being He-Ro)Cute, but they'd already established more than a year before He-Ro was going to be released that the villain's name was King Hiss.
Heck, you know what? Every successful action cartoon needs a female villain: He-Ro should have one named Vill-Ann.
>>11496020He-Man was Duke Nukem before Duke Nukem
>>11497030>they'd already established more than a year before He-Ro was going to be released that the villain's name was King Hiss. That's kinda irrelevant when we're specifically discussing Great Black Wizard and the current official lore is that he's the one positioned as the Big Bad of Preternia, effectively making him He-Ro 's official archenemy, regardless of a bunch of vintage lore that ultimately never happened and whether anyone likes it or not
>>11497037>That's kinda irrelevant when we're specifically discussing Great Black Wizard and the current official lore is that he's the one positioned as the Big Bad of Preternia, effectively making him He-Ro 's official archenemy,Point, but I feel like it's early enough to say "this artist made a dumb change in current official comics". Just like making up Fat Chick and Lady Webstor to have Hordeswomen who aren't tied up in the She-Ra media rights was lame.
With the SDCC reveal of the all new Serpent Lair, I really hope they announce these two reissues.
>>11494551>some head canon bullshit for you:>Blast Attak was Modulok's first try at a robot that emulated his powers to figure out what would and wouldn't work for a bot to split and recombine>Left Blast Attak at Snake Mountain when he ditched the Evil Warriors and his second try, Multi-Bot, was more successful.Just catching up and I love this, thanks.
On the topic of SDCC, I can't remember from last year, will we get any blurry shitty teaser photos or verbal confirmations of what on display on preview night (Wednesday), or do we have to wait until Thursday when full reveals spill out to have anything interesting to talk about?
>>11497041I WANT to like Tarangela, at least. But this whole artistically hobbling yourself with some kind of "all characters need to fit into races and share designs" shit is dumb.
Don't make your new spider girl "Lady Webstor", give her a unique design.
Either that or just use the "octopus woman" design, she's purple and has arms coming out her back too, and if you really must call her anything other than "Octavia" if that names too tied to PoP.
Hell, merge the two at the most extreme, turn octopus woman's tentacles into spider legs and call her Tarangela. Theres multiple angles they could've approached it from, and all would be better than "Webstor with tits"
This is cool. Why didn't origins not pursue more Anti-Eternai lore?
>>11497173>what if he-man was le evil?
Ok /motu/ general, I have a question I hope you guys can help with. How come pic related seems to be one of the rarest figures in this line? Like what happened to this figure specifically to make him impossible to find? Generally new releases come, sell out fast then get restocked quick and proceed to linger forever. But this guy seemed to barely even release, jumped in price on most places and then he's not even listed on most sites anymore.
What is it about this one specific figure, where even con and store exclusives are still obtainable, that this guy decides to just be impossible to find now.
>>11496705>something like "SCAPULAR"That name's taken: https://sourcehorsemen.com/mythic-legions/entry/skapular-the-cryptbreaker-2

>>11497176Why is Gaston there?
>>11497639Ignore the rest of the retards. Masterverse has very low production numbers so if you don't preorder them immediately you're shit out of luck. That's it. See every other decent MV figure that's sold out on BBTS.
>>11497639>That name's takenShit. What about "Feem-Or" or "Vertebrar"?
>Skipped on Masterverse because I preferred Origins and MCX
>Masterverse slowly got better
>Sort of feel like I'm too late to Masterverse now to get into it despite how cool alot of NE looks
>>11497173There wasnt alot of existing fiction for it. Outside of the German storybooks, AE He-man really only exists in Masters of the Multiverse. A book, which I found fun, but met some rock reception upon release. Not everyone is onboard with AE as a whole.
Personally I feel like they should have followed in the footsteps of Transformers' Shattered Glass. Dont just make everyone into a black and red repaint, come up with new evil color schemes! He-Skeletor was a big let down too imo. He should have been a flesh toned Skeletor in He-man colors not purple Faker.
>>11497639MV Wv14 had very poor distribution. Snake Teela is stupid expensive as well. Maybe you got lucky to see it once but that was it
>https://toyhabits.com/masterverse-wave-14-masters-of-the-universe-preorder/
>>11497642 Well there's the problem, my Targets don't actually stock their toy sections. I can't actually remember the last toy I bought there, for myself anyway. My kid always manages to find something to grab hold off whenever we go there.
>>11497660I decided I wanted to build a horde of skeleton soldiers out of all my extra Skeletors and he'd be a great one to mix into the batch because he's so unique looking compared to the stock Skeletor. But I guess everyone else thought he looked badass as well.
>>11497662>>11497675This makes sense I guess, I did notice Snake Teela was also harder to find. Guess it was one of those waves that got caught in the middle of some sort of transition and got shorted somehow.
anyway I appreciate the replies, I guess the hunt continues
>>11497660I'm glad I'm not the only person who saw that.
>>11497746>Snake Mountain ringKinda jealous
>People sleep on MV for years, treat it like the red headed step child of the brand.
>Muh gimmicks, muh heckin origins, ewww revelations
>MV pegwarms goes on clearance despite most of the toys being pretty cool
>Mattel wises up and starts lowering the production numbers
>hurr durr why dey not make enough MV figures for me to come late to party?
>>11498010I don't disagree but from a leaf's perspective high cost, poor distribution and low QC also made it hard to get into.
Spent $70 on Slush Head and his tentacles broke coming out of the plastic. Can't exchange him because the store only got 2 and the other one is gone.
Everyone is to blame.
>except me
>>11498063The only one that I wanted that I missed was Movie Beastman. I thought he would sit on BBTS for a while since it was up near the top when sorted by stock numbers, but I didn't check for a few days...
>>11498063See for me if they kept doing wild stuff like slush head id probably still be into it. I dont want to buy another version of a figure i have several of already again.
>>11498071Daydreaming now, but how great would it be if Club Grayskull was access to " Grayskull's Dungeon" where you could buy some of these scarce older figures.
Lol to help with your order Mattel has FrogMongAI there help his friends escape the dungeon ( and into your cart.)
>>11498085Would you instead be OK with a new Frog Monger production run in brown and renamed Missile Toad?
>>11498114Nta but I'd be down for light brown missletoad just because frog monger is one of my favorite figures and I'd love to have another.
>>11498010In fairness Origins was really really good from the start. Revelations designs largely sucked ass and outside of Skeletor and Mossman, everybody was a major butterface. Classics also casts a large shadow to this day. New Eternia is what I wanted from the onset. Your criticism is in the right but I had my predilictions.
>>11498114I am that anon and I absolutely would love that. 100% emoji.
If he had some kind of missile that launches, it would be a 200% emoji.
>>11498147MV Mossman is great. I pose him with Wun-Dar on the Preternia shelf. Great scuplt with nice details. His alt hand with the vines kinda sucks, would much rather have a wooden club or some for him. But now that he's on clearance, definitely worth it.
>>11497173When you know that the artist is German and imcluded in the box art a typical dragon toy that was very common in Germany.
>>11497671Anti-Eternia was just a German audio book setting that was more like a Limbo realm than just shattered glass. You could compare it more with DC comics dark universe.
>>11498168And/Or this dragon toy. I cant find it but they had one red and blue color variant too.
>>11498168>You could compare it more with DC comics dark universe.Well now we're at a crossroads anyway since there are now technically two Anti-Eternia universes. The He-Skeletor/MOTM and German audio book universe. Sort of like how there are two seperate Marvel secret wars continuities, the Shooter comic and the continuity that only existed on the action figure cardbacks.
So, Origins just took Classics Hover Robots and repurposed the Horde Trooper Prime, like they did with some heads. Putting aside that Im wondering if we'll get non-red Hover Robots, do you think they are any Classics figures that Mattel could just straight-up reissue for Origins, just change paint a little or something? Dylamug? Shadow Beast?
Something that fascinates me about Mattel is how limited they are despite having such extensive history in the toy business. These guys have been around for nearly a century now, yet outside of MOTU, Hot Wheels, and Barbie they never really managed to establish quite as impressive a library of action figure brands as Hasbro did.
Alot of their older properties are basically dead (Big Jim, Matt Mason, Shogun Warriors, Max Steel) or just non-viable. Everything else is either criminally neglected as MOTU and Street Sharks had been for decades upto this point, or completely out of the question due to rights issues. So they just end up owning action figure form factors instead of action figure brands. New Adventures falls into the same camp as Shogun Warriors and Secret Wars as a result. On their own, this could have been the basis of a cool new original line, but now it's just damned to eternity as the red headed step child of the MOTU legacy.
FWIW I'd still like to see Pulsar or Membrane Man make it into MOTU but I recognize that's a stupidly niche desire.
>>11498221I've actually been wondering this myself. WWEternia proved to us they still own the molds for all the Classics accessories, but they did sell the Classics molds to Super7 a decade ago anyways. So short of buying them back, what else do they own?
>>11498114Yes. 100%
I need more aquatic goobers to go with Frog Monger and LoP Merman. I also want Dart-os to happen.

>>11498226>So short of buying them back, what else do they own?Likely anything that was an accessory and not the full figure
>>11498230>Fun fact about frogs that should get a few more anons behind our pro-frog movementIf you're not down with that, then we got two words for ya: Suck it!
>>11498221Gygor/Shadow Beast, the giants, Granamyr, Imp, Kowl, Loo-Kee should all work with Origins.
Though if you want to get technical, Kowl and Loo-Kee had vintage figures with mechanisms and the vintage Megator and Tytus were bigger than Classics.
Though i
>>11498238Granamyr would be such a good choice. He would tower over the other Origins so nice. Heck I might even buy one since I doubt Origins will get him proper.
Before I look up ebay prices, I'm going to guess he's reasonably priced. Two different variants so lots out there. Right?
>>11498226>but they did sell the Classics molds to Super7Which molds did they sell? Was it just the main buck? Because an anon pointed out that Origins Geldor and Demoman both use the Classics heads.
>>11498247>https://comicsalliance.com/super7-masters-of-the-universe-ultimate-details/Going off the earliest solicitations for their MOTU Ultimates releases, we know they atleast had everyone from He-man to Ram-Man. Frankly I suspect this is how and why Classics He-man ended up bootlegged. Hell if you're familiar, Mattel retaining the accessory molds even explains why the bootleg classics He-men have those weird off brand harnesses. But ever since WWEternia they've insisted they cant use any of their classics parts in Origins. How Demo-man and Geldor made the cut I have no clue.
>>11498235Wouldnt heads be off limits then? Is it strictly a matter of the classics buck itself being verboten?
The aforementioned bootlegs. Early on I used to see He-man and Fakers built off the center bottom mold, complete with that ugly harness. At some point they must have gotten the accurate harnesses. Still they look very off, almost too small for these bodies.
>>11498290I am not an expert on molds or tooling. But is it possible that Geldor and Demo are new but there just isnt much else to do with those characters's heads?
>>11498316Ofcourse, but we cant ignore the resemblance the heads on the origins versions of those two resemble their classics counterparts. its one thing to share a passing fsmiliarity but it just seems like they recycled those heads.
>>11498321Stressing that I don't know anything about about how they make molds...but would it be easier to take the Classics one, make it smaller so it's Origins scale than it would be to just make a new (albeit uncreative) one?
Classics heads aren't compatible with Origins or Masterverse either, so Mattel must have had to do some work.
Are we still wishing for impossible announcements from SDCC? I humbly ask for:
>Dart-Os announced as the first new Galatic Guardian kicking off the NA Origins line.
And.now that he exists in our imaginations
> Missle Toad
>>11498373>Dart-Os as the first NA character in OriginsThat's so deranged, I can't help supporting it.
>>11498379Does he not look like a space frog?
What the number 1 complaint about the NA good guys?
Dart-os is the perfect fit.
>>11496572 Neat.
I had Big Jim and 2 Action Jackson's as a kid.

>>11497173>>11497176 That looks like The Evil Bong.
>>11498218MotU already has different lores. Actionfigure mini-comics, Filmation, German audiobooks, DC comics, UK and Interpart.
>>11498224 I would stab for a 3.75 / 1 1/18 modern articulated Major Matt.
Eagle Force was damned close with it's Space Force figures... then they offered no follow up support and now seem to be releasing these guys with different waves.
Hell, I just want a replacement for my bubble helmet from the original figures.

>>11498437 Honestly I would prefer a 3.75 scale on these guys but that's just what I collect.
Otherwise, something with more of a Marvel Legends "realistic" proportions.
Ariel here is more Lana from Archer.
>>11498439 Something between this and the ones posted.
Boss Fight should have possibly tried for the license.(and not sculpting their wives and girlfriends)
But then they would have been overly expensive and the shipping would be bullshit.

>>11498420Im glad Warner's eating shit in all seriousness. They own some of the coolest shit in creation and all they do is sit on it. The fact that the only Thundarr toys we ever got coinsided with 200X speaks volumes. Heh, maybe if we're lucky the husk of Warner will hire Efron to play a live action Thundarr sometime in the 2030s when the entire effort is way too late anyways.
>>11498434>>11498437>>11498439Plenty have been over the years. I did see a few origins Thundarrs within the last 5 years aswell. The fans are out there but the toy companies just dont bite.
>>11498442I'd rather see FMF cover Thundarr and the other WB TV heroes myself. I came up with this needlessly elaborate plan for an Amazing Heroes continuation centered around these sorts of capeshitters with guys like Thundarr and Space Ghost in mind.
>>11498477the mantenna mini-me off to the left is giving me major trash bag bunch vibes. great find.
>>11498365AFAIK Origins and Classics heads are the same scale and feature compatible neckpegs
>>11498373Just bumping with the same old same old. Fuerza T, Meteorbs, POG dinos, Gygor, and my beloved Fuerza T. Did I mention Fuerza T?
>>11498579Classics pegs are slightly smaller. So a Classics head can fit perfectly on an Origins body with a little heat and articulate fine
But an Origins head will be slightly loose on a Classics body without a little putty or something
>>11498425I'm aware I was just pointing out as much for Anti-Eternia specifically.
>>11498430Alot of good ideas there honestly. Im surprised Mattel hasnt just resorted to licensing out alot of their older toys. God knows they'll never try modernizing Pulsar, Gre-Gory, or Krusher so they might aswell be handed out to a Loyal Subjects styled company just to be rereleased.
Shame about the direction Eagle Force went in too. Seems like the line underwent a complete rebrand or a spin off too? Hard to keep up with it all. The world leader heads were all pretty meme worthy btw.
>>11498581ah I didnt know that. thanks for the tip
>>11498580They should at least make Platino. I hope you get your wish though.
Are these crazy expensive?
>>11498580I think those wave 2 figures are not put together on pupose but just random testshot.
Found this youtube short that shows random testshots.
www.youtube.com/shorts/fEwct18tCSY
>>11498597They only get more expensive over time. On average you'll see incomplete figures go for 200 to 600 dollars a piece. Unused heads are being sold on their own for a 100 bucks as is. There are also shitloads of bootlegs being manufactured in Brazil apparently. It's a mess. I would happily settle for just Platino at this point.
>>11498641That could be. Oolar was famously based off a payload of Top Toys test shots discovered in one of their warehouses. Aside from He-man built on a flesh tone Evil warrior body, there were also black head skeletors (unpainted), and fleshtone Beastmen.
>>11498641forgot to add, alot of those test shots look amazing. it's crazy what a difference color choice can make
>>11498385>Does he not look like a space frog?Sure.
>>11498385>What the number 1 complaint about the NA good guys? That they're a bunch of humans. So I get why you want to make him an NA hero, but I wouldn't have ever thought of starting NA that way, instead of Optikk or Slush Head.

>>11498697Oh I know what makes the most sense but whatever. I was wishing for the impossible.
If they are going to make more of Axel's designs, Dart-Os is one of the better ones, so hey surprise everyone instead of doing the expected thing. Its not like the people who would buy Slush Head are NOT going to buy him if he's not first.
>>11498696Why you posting this garbage woke version of BT?
>>11498373>Dart-Os announced as the first new Galatic Guardian That is almost crazy enough to work.
And if we are going crazy, add this guy to the list to squeeze into NA. Or whatever. Just make him Mattel.
>>11498722I don't remember the first wave going on sale, did it do poorly or something?
>>11498842Both Sharks sold out relatively quickly, but Slash pegwarmed until he got clearanced. Wave 2 hit, and Streex was the one that sold out first. Big Slammu followed not too long after, and Piranoid is the one pegwarming. Shame that they started with the two least desirable bad guys. Maybe the fact that the baddies sold poorly gave them cold feet about the next two waves, which is a shame because Killamari, Slobster and Mantaman are way cooler than the two we got.
>>11498842>>11498865and weirdly it was sold on amazon/mattel/entearth/bbts etc but then wm never carried it in stores despite originally being a launch exclusive on their website. target carried it but it was random which target stores did have it versus never got the pegs. as the other anon said it was sharks gone instantly and villains making it to clearance. this hasn't affected other mattel lines before. these were due in fall with a big panel confirming that the sharks were switching going forward to being full hard plastic bodies instead of the soft plastic rubber heads to accommodate the biting action feature of the first four sharks
>>11498574 Separated at birth?
>>11498373>>11498379>>11498385>>11498838Kicking off NA in Origins by retconning newbies into the line is fucking GENIUS bros. Honestly for all the shit I talk about the Galactic Guardians being humnans this would be just as great an opportunity to get some deep cut concept characters like Pochahontas Robin Hood in the mix aswell. At this point shomebody needs to repost the concept chatracter collage so we can expound on the idea further. Hell we could get those classics character contest guys in the line finally. Imagine Gangstor as a Space Mutant!
>>11498707>>11498722If one bit of good can come from SDCC it would be a follow up on the goings on with street sharks. Id buy a four pack of villains if it meant getting Killamari...

But Sagitar seems more like he could be sold as a mount if they leaned into that.Yep, I was going to say Sagitar as the Guardian, then decided it's cheating to include anyone more "oversize" than MotWWE/Superstars Andre or Mantenna with his four legs.
But I'd kill to see Sagitar on the modular Origins body.
>>11499208When it comes to NA sometimes I really can't tell what's a shit post or not.
>>11499097Hey, ive got that box set.
>>11499208Who's Needlenose?
Zark could look great if vintage Two Bad has a removable harness and Mattel would spring for soft goods to go over it.
>>11498473>>11498477I thought i read etsy was cracking down on 3d prints? Is it just gundam or 40k or even ghost gun stuff they are after?
>>11499210Genuine question. Would anyone want to see a straight reissue of the vintage NA figures or 200X? I'm sincerely curious.
>>11499255For 200x, no.
The figures that were articulated do that "sculpted in a pose" shit I hate, and the other half of the line was fucking statues.
>>11499255No to both. I've been banging on the "update NA to Origins" drum for a couple years now. As discussed, NA were just to far from Motu's size and style.
200x I've bought a few for my kids to play with and they just don't seem toyetic enough or something. The kids never pick them up to play with, and I think that says something when they'll take an incomplete vintage Mekaneck over a 200x one with his armor.
>>11499230He was a mutant that picked a fight with Flogg and Slush-head, until Skeletor came and literally kicked his ass, resulting in the animation error with tiny Flogg. I just like him because he looks freaky and isn't a boring human.

>>11500223>>11500225Are you taking these pictures
>>11500223Cool.
>>11500225What's this supposed to be?
>>11500238No, just took some screenshots from a livestream
>>11500239Itโs based on the original Castle Grayskull prototype. It sounds like itโs an Amazon exclusive
>>11500218>mfw>>11500223OC donut steel?
>>11500225That's pretty neat looking
>>11500161This shit pisses me off. Just when I gave up on Mattel and their bullshit, they pull me back in with this.
Mono's MYP line looks good too.
>>11500161>brand new 6 inch scaleBitchin
>>11500225Up now on Amazon
>>11500271Definitely do. I'm struggling... Both seems like a mistake, Mondo's will be way pricier but obviously better looking and articulated, but maybe not better toys, if that makes sense. And I was considering picking and choosing from Mondo and going all in on these Origins esque ones, but I don't think that would work, if I got say just Clawful from Mondo, I'd surely want more.
>>11500322Might as well post some proper pictures then. Amazon still has the original Castle Grayskull listed, upcharged but less than this new one.
>A Stygian Moat mat from the Taylor prototype is included to surround Castle Grayskull and provide a visual foundation for the playset.>A special edition Space Suit figure is included, a nod to the sticker from the vintage playset.
>>11500325It comes down to you either wanting statues you can pose or toys you can play with
>>11500322>>11500327Price tag is obscene
>>11500330>statues you can poseThat's a silly statement, a statue you can pose is just a (seemingly) well articulated and sculpted action figure. You could certainly play with either of these figure lines.
>>11499889I want Kobolds too.
Oh wait. You meant Rana, right?

Who are the MAIN characters of He-Man? Aside from He-Man, Skeletor, Man-at-Arms, Teela, Beast-Man, and Evil-Lyn. Do I just have to get those?
>>11500121>that bustlineI was already gonna buy this figure but... damn.
>>11500225When i saw the the thumbnail I thought it was an actual concept art Castle Grayskull! mfw it's just a $130 repaint of the Origins castle. It's a fun new colorway but I already have the Origins Grayskull so this is an easy pass.
>>11500223Greatest reveal for me so far.
>>11500327How was I supposed to know this line would survive for five years and eventually put out a better Castle Greyskull with the concept mat?
Also, wow they're still putting out a lot of stuff.
Holy shit, is kino back on the menu?
>CC dead, actual good looking figures for 200x
>Masterverse actually looks exciting to me, that's never happened before.
>MFing Dragstor and an Axel OC that I don't immediately hate
Bros, literally the only negative thing I can say is "fuck off with the arbitrary hyphens, Axel". Those piss me off. Just call him Stingor.
>>11500363If you're a main character fag, then you need Orko, Battle Cat and Trap Jaw too. They're all about as important as Teela or Beast Man
>>11500161I don't want to be a party pooper because these look great. It's just that I already have so many versions of these characters already.
I might get Prince Adam because as a variant he's different enough from Origins/Vintage.
>>11500218Nice! Finally.
>>11500223Cool I guess. But why this guy over Wrap Trap?
>>11500596> why this guy over Wrap TrapYou know damn well why
>Tooling is hard. >More reuse plz
>>11500091>>11500095Sisters...are these Masterverse I want to buy? I don't understand these emotions.
I think that's Prince Keldor before and mid-transformation into Skeletor.
>>11500597But Sting-or looks like a lot of new tooling already?
And what was that wrapped up Skeletor that came with the 3 Terrors? There is some reuse for a mummy body.
>>11500601Stingor is reusing a basic buck, basic trunks, Hiss legs, Grizzlor or Leech shins, Clawful legs, his arms and Modulok hands, and that pincer might even be Masters of WWE Sting
Literally all that's new is the head, tail and armor.
>>11500161>200xNice. Plus 6-inch scale at that.
>2023 SDCC...down to only 3 vintages (Sy-klone, Rokkon and Extendar)
>Last year, now down to 2 (just Rio and Modulok)
>This year, only Dragstor
It's actually hilarious
(Yeah, they prob have one or two saved for the design panel as surprises, I'm just having a giggle)
>>11500603>Muh toolingUse the basic buck with a harness that looks like bandages wrapped around his torso.
Would need new arms and legs. Maybe they could cheat use and boots. (He-Mans busted toe boot could work.)
Or make a new mummy body to also use with that wrapped up Skeletor that goes with the 3 terrors.
First look at power sword and havoc staff at sdcc from the new movie
>>11500656Don't "muh" me for answering your questions, I'm neither trying to argue with you nor defend Mattel.
If you didn't want answers and just wanted to complain, you could've just said "reee I want Wrap Trap" and I'd have probably respondrd with "yeah, Wrap Trap would be a cooler character choice"
>>11500728I will do it on his behalf.
Reee I want Wrap Trap.
Also reee I want Stretch Nek.
Also reee I want Horde Brainbug dude.
Also REEEE where the fuck is Mantisaur?
Finally reeee where is my 200x Tung Lashor?
That is all the reeeing I have energy for right now.
>>11500728Take a deep breath. I wasn't getting you. Just in general the excuse that Origins can't have nice things because of tooling is getting disingenuous. Obviously Mattel has a tooling budget because they just tooled up 12 new 200x figures.
Anyways, we've had a nice cordial week here in /motu/ and I have no desire to start a flame war.
>>11500731Dont you dare profile me.I don't care about any other that shit. I'm the guy who spams about wanting Madam Raz.
>>11500752It would have been amusing if they'd tooled up a bunch of 200X Snakes to launch the sublime alongside He-Man and Skeletor.
Because the 200X Snakes were cool designs with different body sizes. But also reeeee Snakes.
>>11500752And I am the anon that wants 200x Tung to bully my Teela.
We are cut from the same cloth.
Though if you don't want Horde Brain Bug, I may have to distance myself from you. Madam Razz porn is one thing, but not wanting a cool Horde monster dude?Weirdo.
>>11500762The amount of hurt feelings and seething would have been incredible. Almost as good as when they finally annouce the Specter.
>>11500765Hey I don't mind the Brainbug and I don't mind Stingor either.
Maybe it would have been better to phrase it like I don't get how Mattel allocates their resources when it comes to who gets new parts.
Have you ever tried putting the Classic Tung's armor on the Origins version?
>>11500218Thanks Mattel. Now reveal Multi-Bot, with a release date this December.
>>11500223OK, this guy is cool. I sure hope they included a plan to release Scorpia when budgeting that tail, instead of canceling Filmation after the Weaver/Bow/Whiplash wave.
>>11500217>200X Adam repaint = Jaime>200X Teela repaint = KivaIt's all comin' together
>>11500659>>11500657For the love of god please let this movie be good
>>11500656Makes me wish they'ed used the standard origins buck on the Thundercats all the more...
Hopefully there will be more annoucments because Im mostly underwhelmed.
Not getting whole Castle for new deco, mat, robot and some smaller addtions.
Dragstor's cool but a) they're still dancing around figure that people really want and b) just one figure? Come on.
Sting-Or's cool though shame we're not getting Scorpia yet.
With that said, daaamn, I was not ready for 200X line to look this good.
Hope we get more Origins reveals because only 2 toys is a bit disappointing, but damn the Masterverse ones look nice.
>>11500978>Dragstor's cool but a) they're still dancing around figure that people really wantHow many figures are there left for them to dance around that people actually want?
Including Dragstor, there's Two-Bad which we know has been tooled, Stonedar, Blast Attack and Multi-Bot. Add Strobo and Plasmar if you want to get technical since the rest of the 88 were released as regular Origins figures. Not really much of a dance.
Laser boys and the Zoids will be the last vintage in the line apart from the movie shit which they are almost certainly holding out until the anniversary.
>b) just one figure?First day, and we've still got the Mattel panel. I wouldn't be surprised if they at least show Two-Bad and Multi-Bot before the con is over.
>>11501007It's Two-Bad, I meant Two-Bad.
I'll be honest, my top 3 since Spikor was released were Two Bad, followed by Blast-Attak and Modulok and they did a great job of doing all my numbers from 3 to 6 most wanted figures. Like by now, Dragstor was my 3rd most wanted just because they did everyone else.
It's just that Two-Bad is really frustrating after all this wait, after being such a reccuring MOTU character, after being teased on so many boxarts and after Two-Bopsteady and Toon-Bad AND after they said that Two-Bad was already tooled like year ago. So I can't help but get a bit antsy with that one.
>>11500601That was on more vintage buck.It wouldn't fit with Origins parts so it can't be reused.
As for why that line could do him again, vintage-like buck. It's easier to sculpt bandaged arm than bandaged upper bicep, bandaged forearm and bandaged hand.
New Eternia Anti-Eternia He-Man is going to be so awkward to say.
Though imagine if he's not NE but a start of brand new Anti-Eternia subline.
>>11500590>Just call him Stingor.Thank you, someone said it. Motu like it's hyphens but none of vintage "Ors" was spelled like that. And if you have to do it, do like Wun-Dar, like the syllables.
>>11501046New Anti-Eternia.
Do not confuse with Anti-New Eternia, which just means Old Eternia.
DId they sculpted completely new boots for Grayskull Robot for some reason or are those from something?
>>11501024Fair enough, I want him too. And Blast Attack. And Multibot. And the last two 88ers. Let's be honest, the only one that isn't exciting to me is Stonedar, so they can reveal nearly any vintage character and I am likely to not be disappointed. And even Stonedar is kind of needed to go with Rokkon, but he's the one I'm least enthused about.
But I'm stoked to see Dragstor, and out of all the Axel OCs they could have made, I'm glad it's Stingor and not GBW.
But really, your frustration reminds me of when the Battle for Eternia pack revealed that they had pretooled Pythonus when the last Axel snake I give a shit about is Stretch Nek.
So in my eyes, the reveals so far could have been worse. They could have showed Stonedar and Pythonus and I'd probably be more frustrated than you are right now.
Must Mattel checkout always be so bad? I get no one really wants Skeleshredder enough that it stayed in stock for the 14min checkout time, but this should be way better than what this is for a service by now
>>11501075I think everyone rushing for the Hot Wheels and T rex fucked with the site, I've been getting MC stuff for a while and no problems with it until I went for the T rex
>>1150106988yers are pretty annoying to left too, we got so far 2 per year, really no reason to drag two no-tooling guys for so long. Im hoping they'll next Club Grayskull after Eldor.
Did anyone actually order this thing? Had they included it with the Oooze pit instead of the throne, I would have scooped it up. but I think I can wait until the next sale comes around.
>>11501097I didn't even know it existed until right now.
>>11501089They did have to wait for Rio and He-ro to be tooled to get the last parts for Plasmar, so maybe they were waiting for those so they could release both together like the previous ones.
>>11501111https://creations.mattel.com/products/turtles-of-grayskull-skele-shredder-action-figure-jfw90
Is Sting-Or a new character?
>>11501125He only appeared on Origins Modulok artwork.
Though he seems lighly based on concept art from 200x named Scorpius.
Oh man I hope they announcement a scratch and sniff Swiftwind's saddle.
>its an episode where Bow rides behind She-ra
>No no not like this!! Cancel my wish!!
>>11501152On that note, imagine getting pterodactyl dude.
>>11501118Assuming they wont tool Sir Laser-Lot torso for Plasmar or something.
It's going to be a little funny trying to cover up H on his chest.
>>11500161I find it funny how these are 100% cartoon, not adding articulation to the 4 Horseman toys that had action features. Meanwhile Mattel trickles out the occasional vintage remake with an action feature.
>>11501156What's going on with the Skeletor-ish guy with ears, a topknot and wings?
Some discarded concept where Skeletor and Hordak were a race, rather than Skeletor being Keldor?
>>11501179Extreme redesign on Skelecons?
>>11501097I like it but ill have to pass for the moment. If i could get one with out an overly expensive throne id be more tempted.
>>11501097I did, I think it's super cool. Pretty good final figure for Turtles of Grayskull.
Well after the Mad Hatter Flip-or debacle at Toystalkr never going to order from either again
Are we getting more reveals? Heard a rumour we get movie toy reveals? But that means we should get a first look from Amazon first?
>>11501258What had happened?
>>11501308Sting-Or confirmed MC so another reason to be just a little bummed out..another figure taking spot. And since they already showed him off in packaging, he's probably soon so that's more wait for Dragstor.
>>11501308>>11501350Sorry, not meant to reply to that,
>>11501046>>11501059I actually laughed irl at this exchange.
>>11501242I agree. It's a nice way to end it.
Don't want to interrupt all the sdcc hype but.....can someone tell me how the Masterverse Frosta's head looks on the Origins body?
Pretty please
fingers crossed for a big, long run of 200X toys
>>11501350Silver lining, though (at least for me):
I haven't bought an MC since Rio Blast because I'm only gonna deal with them for must haves...
So that means that if Stingor comes first, then when Dragstor hits, I can just get them both (plus probably Despara, Hurricane Hordak and shit maybe even finally getting Motherboard) all in one go.
If Dragstor came first, I'd probably just indefinitely skip Stingor
>>11501394So which figured in line now you'd want the most? Teela? Mer-Man?
If we are getting more Anti-Eternia figures, who do you want? Man-At-Arms? Orko?
>>11501457Two Bad.
And 200X Two Bad.
Then Mattel can tell us they're delaying the vintage Two Bad that's had tooling sitting in a Vietnamese factory since 2024 to my steal attention from them.
Alright, I'll admit IM a bit Negative Nancy here. It could be worse than Sting-Or.Origins might as well do some OCs especially if they want to reuse tooling so badly and it's nice to get something more ambitious then Snake Infiltrator or Trooper Prime. Or another snake.
No new reveals? Movie line?
>>11501475The MotU design panel isn't til tomorrow and the Mattel Creations design panel isn't until Saturday. Patience, my dude.
>>11501469>It could be worse than Sting-Or.Origins might as well do some OCs especially if they want to reuse tooling so badly and it's nice to get something more ambitious then Snake Infiltrator or Trooper Prime.I agree that OCs are as good as any other character source, but that tail isn't even reused tooling unless we get Scorpia.
>>11501046Is there a New Eternia Anti-Eternia Anti-He-Man?
Funny how all non-vintage MV reveals are edgy versions of their main characters.
>>11500090Not feeling that one. Hopefully Mondo will take on Horde staction designs next.
>>11501376I don't own either, but I don't think it'd work, bro. The skin tones don't match and the MV head looks way too big for an Origins body
>>11501052>And if you have to do it, do like Wun-Dar, like the syllables.Stin-Gor?
>>11500218Where vintage is concerned, I think that's another team I'm done with
>Was finished Snakes ages ago>Rio was the last Heroic Warrior I wanted>Now we have the last Horde guy I wanted. Unless Mattel starts to actually make some of the non-vintage shit I've been beating the dead horse over for years, I just need 3 Evil Warriors and that'll be all she wrote.
>>11501634>Now we have the last Horde guy I wanted.Seriously?
>>11501582I mean this would be cool but in the anit-eternia universe is prince keldor. I mean they can make this but it is would essentially be a faker with black hair
>>11501582I mean this would be cool but in the anit-eternia universe is skeletor never happens and keldor remains in the royal palace. Eventually he becomes a version of he-man. I mean they can make this but it is would essentially be a faker with black hair
>>11501660i really typed this like a retard
>>11501655Keldor as He-Man looking like Faker with a different hair color just makes me imagine Skeletor build Faker to impersonate not He-Man but Keldor, sowing confusion in the monarchy.
>>11501644Look, I know you're a hardcore multi-botfag, but not everyone else is required to care
Multi-Bot was never as cool as Modulok, so he's never been a requirement for me, and I even ended up disappointed with Origins Modulok because of how the realized the action feature, so why would I want another one doing the same thing?
If I want a Multi-Bot in my display, I'll use the vintage one
Really hyped for the 200X stuff, these new bodies are a true breath of fresh air for me and im feeling my want to continue collecting origins returning. Sting or looks pretty sick, not a huge fan of the oc stuff but whatever. Ae heman and despara in mv looks fucking nice! Im a huge mark for those two so ill take the bones im tossed, but i really think they do look nice. The wwe X street fighter is uhm, well, its there. Ill try for ultimate warrior but im not getting bent out of shape for a pre order when the time comes. I like the updated grey skull too but i wont get it since i do not have the space. Overall im pretty happy with what weve seen but kinda frustrated since i was wanting more vintage stuff.
Rip brother.
>>11501351Toystlkr had an exclusive TRU version of Flip-or with Jeffery Catbot. Toystlkr crashed before the launch, was 5 minutes late to even load the stock onto the store, and then the site would crash every time you clicked on something. Add to cart? Crash. Go to Checkout? Crash. Final payment screen? Forever loading screen.
You know how you checkout online and everyone says not to reload the page because it'll place a double order? Well apparently that was the only way to try to checkout over and over again until it processed. So 30 mins later the site stock on 100 figures is gone and most people wasted a large amount of time trying to work around the constant crashing site. So fuck Hatter, fuck Toystlkr, and fuck his weak knees figure which has trouble standing upright.
>>11501475There's a spot in the MotU display that has a blacked out window. Movie figures are likely behind it.
>>11501660unrelated but have to ask. does he-skeletor and 2-pack keldor/trapjaw match to put the keldor head on he-skeletor?
>>11501457>If we are getting more Anti-Eternia figures, who do you want? Man-At-Arms? Orko?teela, man at arms, king randor, maybe orko
Hopefully Mattel takes aspects of this for the CC Swift Wind Adora 2-pack.
>>11501801Based Swiftwind.
Did they ever release Catraโs Lion?
FINALLY got my sb sy klone, been having delivery issues in nowhere il again, and good night is this some of the best box work going. Its just so well done, the art covers every part of the box except the bottom, you got the spot varnish back art and raised lettering for the logo up front and then youve got the figure with its lenticular sticker showing through the blister. Man, you even get the hope for a sketch book two bad and spydor. For a long time origins guy the sketch book stuff is the most exciting stuff happening so i expect mattel to kill it or target to end its contract once its expired. I havent opened it yet, but it looks nice and the gun is getting warped from the holder it seems.
>>11501616Brutal...why didn't they make her pretty either time?
