Ok so basically WuWa 1.0 had normal Genshin exploration, the areas were kinda small and QC was a bit shitty but it's a decent enough way to waste time for someone who likes the genre
In 2.0 area all the randomly scattered chests get replaced with this gay as fuck ubislop activity checklist that you click and it just marks all that shit on the map for you.

I dropped genshin after fontaine and before the brazil/blacks region and I play wuwa now, but genshin had a better story and wuwa has no puzzles or exploration post 2.0 and it's pretty gay.

1.0-1.4 were fantastic and I had no complaints. Now we get Zani having a stupid cape, no standalone Fleurdelys, Cantarella censored, no puzzles or hidden exploration objectives, bad pacing and bad story(though 2.2 and 2.4 have been okay), they don't release 4 stars anymore, we've still never met Danjin, they gave a free 5* male and keep releasing shit males meanwhile not a single shota since launch, Phoebe was rushed out with no character progression or recognition that her cult murders women and children.

I tried playing genshin again but it just FEELS dated and I can't stomach it. I hope wuwa writing and characterization gets better, but looking at PGR that's very doubtful.

There's still a bunch of chests in Rinacita that aren't a part of "find 4 in this circle, dummy!". Some of them aren't even picked up by the lootmapper, so you do have to explore to find them, they just aren't necessary for the false 100% the map checklist shows you and i'd say it's a nice compromise. There was one area in 1.0 with so many hidden chests that event getting false 100% required watching a video, unless you went pixel-hunting or got really lucky.

Started in 2.0 so i was too low level to clear that challenge in time (Black Shores has a separate mob lvl scaling higher than in other areas for some reason and the challenge is timed so you can't beat it by slowly chipping away at the enemies). So in order to finish the running course i had to come back later after building my characters properly. Until you clear the challenge at least once it literally just fails the running course when you get anywhere close and avoiding it is impossible. Wonder who the fuck thought this was ok and why it hasn't been fixed. Sure, it's not that big of a deal, but it's still terrible design.

You don't really need to switch between them, unless you're doing some sort of bullshit solo runs. It's just a part of the rotation where you use either one or the other depending on her role in the team. It's not like she's clunky to play, it can be enjoyable, but the shitty part is that if you want to use her as the damage dealer you have to switch to Rover to apply the frazzle stacks, which is fine when you're fighting a single boss, but with waves of enemies like in WhiWa, the stacks don't get re-applied to the new enemies and without them she does no damage, so it's a pain in the ass. Cartethyia actually has a mechanic like that at S1 where she re-applies erosion stacks to new enemies after killing anyone that already as them. Quests and NPCs will be bad as well because chinese can't write compelling stories and characters to save their lives, especially in gacha

I'm playing Enderal and the exploration is thrilling because it's meaningful, places look both intriguing and have reasons to be intriguing.
The post-Sumeru puzzles may as well not exist, they're an insult to the player and further sanitize the entire open world making teyvat feel like a theme park instead of a living breathing world

Flying itself isn't throwing exploration off the windows, but adding markers to every chest on the in-game map is what actually diminishes the exploration (which is what wuwa does as well).
However, having good traversal tools is, by itself, an enjoyable way to explore. Flying in Wuwa feels good and it would benefits Genshin to a degree too as I don't know a single player who don't use Natlan characters for exploration or Xianyun/Yelan. Genshin's movement option are pretty unsatisfying overall though, my C6 Mavuika still felt stiff to use despite the much increased bike uptime.

Genshin has prettier vista, better draw distance, and more underground structures, it's superior to Wuwa in those aspects but both games still have pretty bad exploration.

You don't try new builds
All your new characters are instantly prefarmed to max level
Resetting progression every 3-6 months fixes all of this and it has a ton of other benefits.
