Nintendo (to me) used to be known as the console maker that wouldn't get some of the multiplat releases but the first party games were solid to the point of still warranting having one, plus was usually cheaper. The standard setup of required gaming would be whatever Nintendo had, either Playstation or Xbox, and/or possibly PC. These days, anything on PS/XB is also on PC so it's not even a question to just get one, most likely a PC, and the last few years of nintendo hasn't really impressed me enough to get their console.

I have a Switch 2 and honestly I’ve been having a blast buying up a bunch of Switch games and playing them for the first time on good hardware. Along with the NSO expansion pass, this thing is filled to the brim with content.

The problem is, the one game they released for it is completely devoid of content and flare, also it’s $80. I didn’t buy the bundle as I didn’t want to give Nintendo my money for that game, so I got the digital version off hand on Facebook for $40. Safe to say this single

For what reason should I give any company admiration? They're nothing more than soulless money-hungry corporates, and will gladly cut corners and strip any semblance of quality control out of their product, if it makes them money. It seems completely nonsensical to give them any kind of admiration or worship. As it stands right now, the Switch 2 has no games that interest me, and only Metroid Prime 3 seems slightly interesting. Otherwise it just doesn't seem worth the investment.

They have an incredibly user-unfriendly experience when it comes to browsing, downloading, and even playing games. Their stores are incredibly laggy and unintuitive, old games you already bought arent transferable, you need to get their online subscription for half baked experience, and games that you download need an online connection to confirn you actually have a license for the game you're trying to play, and that includes the glorified emulators with a limited selection.

Nintendo always has good presentation, but the performance has always been incredibly sloppy, and they can't seem to stop being stiff on flexibility and options, they always set rules that put down people for changing or adding onto what they've already built, which isn't unlike console gaming nowadays, but when you've played on pc for more than half your life, and a lot of decent games that came from 2010 are still playable to this day, mods included.

The Switch could have taken credit for the fact that we have what we have now with the Steam Deck and other derivatives, but Nintendo got worse as a user-friendly entertainment company, and didn't account for any possible mistakes when making the Switch 2. The idea of a handheld PC was more of an idea for valve, and was the only reason why the steam controller was discontinued so early, Valve wanted to develop something for gaming, and they wanted it to have the Switch gimmicks, but as a PC, and they didn't want to use Windows as an operating system because it's slow, clunky, and microsoft likes to make new versions to bait people into thinking the new experience will be better (it gets worse), and now we have the Switch 2, it's new, but it's not better, from the standards we have now, and the portable PCs we have, only people that absolutely love Nintendo will buy the Switch 2, while it does boast quite the large amount of sales, most people owned Nintendo consoles along with their PCs because it was a safe and fun choice.

Now we have just a portable PC with more buttons and user-flexibility, along with all their PC games they already bought, and probably one of the greatest reinventions that I can't get enough of, the track pads for the thumbs for more precise control when using it as a mouse.

I went with that combination because Nintendo were always the ones doing something different. I was pretty much PC + Nintendo since the Wii days because it was the combination that made the most sense. I don't really have much use for PC handhelds so while I think things like the Steamdeck are nice, I'm not going to be buying one any time soon. On that note, I'm also not rushing out to buy a Switch 2 anytime soon and my not even get one at all since I already have a Switch 1 and Nintendo's 1st party offerings haven't been that great for years now in my view. If I were in the market for a handheld device for games it probably still would be the Steamdeck despite Rog Ally X existing and the Lenovo one. The games not wasting their budget on le realism are one of the reasons why they're so good. It lets you completely trivialize even the more difficult enemies, but it doesn't actually give you freedom. It's just a facade.
