The native dubliners were funny, kind, and polite, at least the ones I met and spoke with, but I found the city quite horrid. It's divided into Old City and New City iirc, and while the first is prettier, the latter is just like any other European city: too modern, with no real identity, full of immigrants who are given special status and benefits, Indians with their grocery/tobacco/ATM shops everywhere, gypsies roaming the streets like they own them because they effectively do, rubbish thrown everywhere, bus always late. I remember most nooks and streets of Edinburgh after visiting it twice, while Dublin left no real lasting impression.
