Square Enix is out of touch that's been very clear to us for a while now, but who have they been in contact with and working closely to for the purpose of developing their games in a certain way?
First of all, XIV has been the game they use to fund their blunders over the years. The latest expansion was blatantly a DEI infested shitshow after they hired sweet-baby, a Jewish company that 'culturally appropriates' media for companies, in this case, SE.
This is how you got Woke Lamutt and other disgusting shit like the glam becoming 'for everyone' and therefore pleasing nobody.
The game's content has taken a decline significant enough that player numbers are falling rapidly. The quality is not there, nor do they care if it is. Yoshida has recently come out and confirmed what has been clear to many for a while now. 'We don't have the money to provide more' is basically what he told us.
Which means XIV is not the golden goose anymore. It's likely to remain on life-support for the foreseeable future.
Yoshida was the hand that killed the game, but it was Square Enix that killed the FF franchise.

For 8.0 I hope they add a touch of testosterone into the game again. I don't know how to explain it but the game and it's characters feel so... sissy right now. Unless SE has a new MMO in the works (they don't, no one does) then there is no reason to assume XIV will be shut down any time soon, judging by when it reached it's peak popularity it most likely has 3 more expansions at minimum left to go. XI was sunset for a very specific reason, they wanted to chase WoW numbers and they couldn't do it with a game as hardcore and oldschool as XI. Even still it managed to see another expansion released 3 years after FFXIV as well as a pseudo expansion in 2015. Going even further it continued to receive story updates through TVR and new content updates to this day.
