MK World update 1.1.2 (aka the commute update)
>players aren't picking intermission tracks because they're monotonous and consist 75% of straight lines
>literally 95% of people choose Random just to avoid intermission tracks
>update the game so now random gives you an intermission tracks almost all of the time
>content creators and
players dropping the game like flies
>it now takes longer to find a match in MK World than it does on the 8 year old MKDX
Will Nintendo swallow their pride and reverse this update? Or are we stuck with commute Kart forever?

Well I played it pre switch 2 launch and it was instant in matchmaking, so I dont know what this claim means.
Also 3.5 million potential players vs 61 million.

Also, is it so bad that MKW and 8 are different? 8 is still very much playable and even a definitive classic MK game.
I think its great that mkw doesnt replace a 8 year old game and that that game is still being played.

That might work, if you're really lucky - that's literally a strategy that's existed since Mario Kart 1 on SNES.

But MKW is so balanced it's harder to cheese. This is why minmaxing fags are seething - some tryhard fags are getting raped by 10 year olds and it's glorious to see.

Even a filthy casual like me can play and occasionally come first, something which would never happen to me in MK8.

People are already gonna see outside the tracks because of the free roam and knockout modes.
People play MK because they like tracks, they like doing 3 lap format and have liked it for decades so why get rid of 3 laps on tracks? How do tour modes even have their own identity if regular matches have intermission too?
Would literally be fine if they just let you do 3 laps even with intermissions.

Yes retard. Mario Kart consistently sold so much every generation because it was very consistent in its primary gameplay offerings. Fucking around with that is a supremely terrible decision in the long run. Mario Kart wasn't like Zelda, which desperately needed a wakeup call. People are complaining about the lack of OPTIONS.
There's not good argument for why you couldn't give people the option to choose where they wanted to play it classic, or with the highways where you drive to the track.

Also, people don't like it cause the long highways are just 4 minutes of hanging back the entire time with no real shortcuts, collecting coins on track you can literally just hold A most of the time and do nothing, and then like 30 seconds of the actual track that's fun with the turns and the rails, that's over faster than it started.

People just want the OPPORTUNITY to be able to choose an OPTION to let them play the game how they want to. Something that's been a staple of most game since the dawn of multiplayer games but Nintendo suddenly decides they want everyone to play the game how they want them to.

People are right to be upset that an $80 has these sorts of issues, and only a blind fanboy with zero context would defend this.

This is bait right?
People like 3 laps because they get more chances to perfect their laps and enjoy track mechanics and shortcuts. If the lightning bolt or something fucked up your line or you fell off the track you get another chance to do it again.
As far as what I've seen the tracks have great skill expression meanwhile intermission has shit like "first place gets to get in an immediate invincible helicopter and skip ahead"

You need some kind of skill expression in the game. It doesn't necessarily have to be snaking, 8DX's 200cc mode was fine too, also World's aggressive shortcuts. But if you don't have anything like Wii, 7 or 8DX's 150cc mode, it degenerates into this weird metagame of playing the odds with items, sandbagging the race until the last few seconds and then trying to overtake everyone with a shock and triple mushrooms

I don't think it should be an option at the moment at least. The main reason people bought the game is the new content and not everyone picking random wants traditional tracks, people picked it a lot in mk8 in my experience it was 40% of the time which would lead me to believe the majority of people before picking a track did not want a traditional track most of the time.
I just think it would be ideal to at least at the start keep the game how it was designed to be played for the people that bought it to play it that way (most people when buying it had no idea you could do a traditional track when you bought it in multiplayer) rather than conceding to a minority that wants something that goes against the original design.
Maybe later on it can be considered after measuring the statistics for a while and seeing if it's necessary and it's truly what the players want because there's no chance at least a fraction of people complaining don't even have the game because this always happens when Nintendo releases a new game that's popular.

I really hate Nintendo's way of "balancing" multiplayer games. They remove any mechanic or tactic that allows you to outplay others by playing the game normally, but then they do literally nothing about the degenerate strategies that arise out of that decision. Smash Bros. and Mario Kart are the worst examples.
>the most important advanced technique in Melee is L-canceling, not wavedashing / wavelanding, because it makes moves safe-on-shield and lets you start and extend combos
>L-canceling was an entirely intentional technique in both 64 and Melee (source: https://www.nintendo.co.jp/n01/n64/software/nus_p_nalj/smash/Control.html#空中攻撃着地)
>Nintendo gets butthurt
>remove L-canceling
>decrease hit stun
>now fewer attacks are safe-on-shield and grounded attacks can't extend combos consistently because you can't L-cancel into them
The end result is Ultimate: a game where the top tiers are all zoners and DLC characters with gimmicks spamming projectiles and safe aerials at each other. There's one top tier rushdown character who isn't a zoner or gimmick character in disguise: Fox. People who play it competitively are fucking miserable.

It's the same shit with Mario Kart: remove mechanics, limit the effectiveness of new mechanics, obfuscate character and kart statistics (which does nothing to prevent people from sweating), punish people for trying to win, and then do fucking nothing about "bagging" and every single person playing as a baby in the blooper kart, which is a hundred times more degenerate.

The "not my problem" design philosophy.

I'm just saying that as long as that option is added I think it's a solid game and one I enjoy more than MK8D personally. There's lots of nitpicks (no list displaying p-switches youve completed/missed, no easy way to play free roam multiplayer, they ought to have revolutionized the singleplayer a bit more with free roam by including bosses or like extra challenging 1v1 races like 3D mario styled etc)

well more to the point, your performance on the intermissions doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if you're at the front, at the back, in the middle....doesn't matter. In fact to be honest, you prefer to be more towards the back so you can roll a powerful item.

Basically you can cut the entire intermission section out of the race, and it would be the same. There's no reason to even sweat those parts.
Anonymous No.714095062 >>714112765

what most good players do is sit at the back, roll a powerful item. Then hold the item for the entire race. The average race is like 3 minutes, so they'll hold it until the last 30 seconds, then use their items. Their placement at the end is all about what items they could chain from their OP item.

And that's how an intermission track is played. Imagine if you were a super sweaty guy intent on always being in the front and being in 1st place at all costs....what are you even doing? lmao. There's no reason to do that. You probably will lose doing that unless you smuggled a couple power items up with you.

Separating routes and classic races wouldn't fix one of the bigger issues about routes themselves: most routes end with a single-lap race. If routes at least ended with a 3-lap race (or 5 laps with the SNES tracks and Peach Stadium 1), then nobody would be complaining. People are forgetting that routes are the ONLY way to play the reverse version of many tracks, or the water section of Crown City, or even Daisy's Castle, and they're all only available in this 1-lap nonsense, not even in time trails.

Also, Battle Mode needs more options.

Changing characters is an underhanded tactic to try to get an upper hand against your opponent by capitalizing on his inexperience. If you are getting outplayed you should strive to become better at the game on a fundamental level, not use a cheap psychological exploit.
As for the controllers, there is nothing inherently wrong with using a Wiimote, but everyone should be on an even playing field and that includes using the same style of controller. Lemme tell you a little story about nintendo and them doing qol updates
In Splatoon 2 you weren’t able to change your loadout between matches, you could only do so by leaving the lobby which made it very cumbersome. In Mario Maker 2, when doing vs. games online you could ONLY do so with randoms, you couldn’t with friends. These were widespread complaints people had about those games and they eventually addressed them. These updates happened months later mainly to coincide with a content update, but they were addressed nonetheless
With Mario Kart World a complaint people had was not liking the intermission races, but they didn’t complain much since they could easily get around it by choosing random. In less than 3 weeks nintendo put out a patch that did nothing else BUT patch this workaround to FORCE people to do intermissions, wether they liked it or not
There’s being good faith, and then there’s “nintendo can do no wrong” which you are doing right now

I actually like the open world tracks because of the sheer variety and the race being a unique route, but the update was unnecessary because I wasn't really seeing a vast amount of people choosing random anyway, it was maybe like half, so there was still a good balance of 3 lap races and open world tracks. Maybe what they could do instead is just make 3 lap races appear on the selection far more often.

It's unacceptable to release a console with this much anti-consumer shit and a shitty screen. I'll wait three or four years after Nintendo gets their egos checked and refreshes this shit with an OLED version and the prices are forced back down. They’ll have to engage eventually if the backlash keeps up at this level. 99% isn’t 100%. Remember how the splatoon world champions from last year got cancelled for leaked dm’s? Eventually they had to address it following backlash to where they stripped them of their title, removed all videos on the event, and even got rid of their special in-game banner. Not expecting a formal apology, but they this isn’t one of those things that can be shrugged off especially given all the surrounding factors ($80, only game they got atm, etc.)

Double Dash is nowhere near as much a departure from the rest of the Mario Karts as World is. Its only real gimmick is double characters with character-specific items.

World straight up changes the formula everyone loved for decades. It's like how the MCU went from being about the Avengers to being about a bunch of race-swapped minor characters nobody cared about that ended up killing Marvel's audience.

They'll ether reverse it, or add some way to queue up for regular tracks. When Ultimate came out people would queue for 1v1s and be put into FFAs but after the first update they changed it so you always got 1v1 if you selected it. Don’t quote me but mainly because of certain glitches on tracks people would only vote for them. In DS people would always go for luigi’s mansion because it had some bug that would crash the game. In Wii people chose courses like grumble volcano because of the one glitch that let you do the whole track in under a minute. In 7, people would only choose SNES rainbow road because it was the shortest and people could farm VR points on it. Mainly things like that which lead people to only vote for a select few courses
