Lex Imperialis? Mogged by Void Shadows
Man my alt-itis is making it hard to actually get progress done. At the end of act 1 with 3 different characters rn
>Soldier Pyro/Bio blaster psyker probably going into raven overseer unless theres a better suggestion
>Sniper Operative into eagle overseer
>Re-doing santic/pyro bladedancer
Also considering doing something silly like arbites that goes into vanguard for maximum shotgun counter shenanigans
>>714191325 (OP)Waifubros are not going to like this one
Does anyone have the arbites portrait edit with the helmet?
>>714191325 (OP)So which pet is the best? Or is there any that's so bad you should avoid picking it?
>still haven't gotten around to playing this game past the first five hours or so (on several characters)
>now there's even MORE dlc
wtf
TLDR: 6.5/10 quite mid DLC, Solomon is boring, companion pets are okay, reactivity leaves much to be desired, new bosses are fun, Overseer is fun
Okay so I made it all the way to Act 5 with Solomon. Played everything Lex Imperialis had to offer, and I have to say it was disappointing. Compared to Void Shadows quality, this new DLC is pretty weak. Solomon introduction was that interesting or shocking as Kibbles introduction, I wasn't very excited to meet the Adeptus Arbites companion at all.
Solomonโs personality is flat, boring even, and sorely lacks the nuance or inner conflict that made companions like Pasqal and Argenta stand out. His VA isn't that great either, he is just a generic white guy with a black paint job.
When compared to Kibbles he gets overshadowed greatly, "Domin".
His companion quest is equally underwhelming, offering few surprises and little in the way of emotional or thematic payoff. His reason to spy on you are simple "I was told to do so", again no personality. There is barely any reactivity from other companions on his quest and doesn't integrate very well with the main story. It was too short to or felt like that, since most of the time Solomon was gone doing who knows what and he just shows up later.
Despite all that, the new encounters were fun but not very challenging, I liked the first boss the most.
My thoughts on the Overseer class, It's fun but not viable in higher difficulties. This game is designed around rolling initiative first and nuking everyone on the screen before it gets a chance to act and do the same to you. Tanks are not useful at all, and the shield doesn't make them survive long either.
The Coomrag torture for Solomon was fine tho.
I would also like to add that the Bird familiar is stupid OP, after testing and trying some things I figured it can do crazy AoE and damage. It was fun.
Started out as an arbitrator soldier and I don't know what class to go to now that I can promote. Been doing shotguns. Any advice?
I was thinking Arch militant or Master tactician

>>714191325 (OP)The main problem with RT is that the combat is fucking boring, even for a TB enjoyer like myself, because it doesn't feel like you're making decisions. What the combat feels most like, is a card game, where you can build your deck the way you want and always draw the same opening hand, with that opening hand always being a one-turn-victory. So every single fight is exactly the same, it doesn't even feel like playing a game.
They try to get around this by making fights with phases, or triggered immunities that force fights to take more than 1 round, but that's just lame.
There are too many ways to do a million damage in one turn in this stupid combat system. To make it even worse, building characters and leveling is fucking boring as well. We have all these hundreds of talents are not only extremely specific, but also completely fucking pointless; I don't even really level 4 of my companions after act 3, because they never get to do anything anyway. I just pick whatever talent happens to be at the top of the list and go with that, it literally doesn't matter.
The Pathfinder games are the same way; the combat is fucking boring, because you just do the same exact overpowered shit in every single fight. Just buff your OTK-guy and then OTK the entire screen. You got all these stats and talents and classes, and it doesn't matter; it's all a mirage, just completely pointless and a waste of your time to read or think about. The combat may as well only be there in these titles so that they don't get classified as point-and-click games.
>>714197540I don't see why, that's an accurate summation of the combat in RT. Even Owlcat themselves have admitted it needs to be fixed.
>>714191325 (OP)>The story is short but okay>Solomorne is boring, joins up late, and is locked into both of his classes, so you can't try out different builds for him>Not much content beyond the questline, the origin, Solomorne, and the new class. Void Shadows expanded the ship and added a lot of smaller side characters to it. They could have at least given the planet you visit as a buildable colony, but nah.>New origin and pet class are fine, I guess. Definitely not as powerful as Bladedancer and Executioner.>New loot is decent, but Shields are not that interesting. It was 7/10, I guess. Not worth a full playthrough just for that, but decent piece of content to experience with the rest of the game if you're planning to play the complete enhanced edition or whatever later. I think I'm burned out on Rogue Trader now. Not going to bother with new playthroughs if the upcoming DLCs are like this.
Still looking forward to Dark Heresy, though.

But besides, what would be a turn based games without those flaws?
I can accept the criticism that it's a tad too easy, I agree some things need to be reworked, specifically about enemies more than what your party can do.
They should be able to do more and more different things.
>>714200939>Combat needs to be fixed in RT or it's simply not worth playing. All the issues and unbalancing stem from the Momentum, Heroic Actions, and the action economy system. They're core parts of Rogue Trader's combat, so the combat system needs an almost total rebuild for the problems to be fixed.
They're changing things a lot for Dark Heresy, but Rogue Trader is always going to be what it is.

>A good game.Such as?
>>714205101The problem with games like this is the offensive options always massively outweigh the defensive ones, which is why it always turns into Alpha Strike: The Game. As for your second question, if we're talking TBC systems period, Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children is the best TBC game ever made, they solved many of they key issues that generally plague such systems with their AT system and giving defensive options actual viability so you can actually strategize past "I must move first and kill everything before it can do the same to me".

>>714206210>Kibellah 1 shot the C'tanYeah RT combat sure is challenging and tactically satisfying.
>>714206309It's the ship upgrades for Auspex, you need a higher tier part for that in order to get the option.
Can someone explain why Calcazar is wrong?
Wouldn't a c'tan be able to close the great rift?

>>714207513Getting technology there is neither worth the effort or takes too long

>>714207513What's irl justification for different countries being in different stages of development?
>>714208265In africa they still have guns, trucks etc
>>714207743Why would the first colonists not be already developed enough to not be feudal
>>714207287Basically he's wrong because C'tan are a literal cancer upon reality the same way Chaos Gods are a cancer upon the spiritual plane that is the Warp. At absolute best they're immortal, unknowable, and abhorrently powerful. There's a reason the Necrons keep the Shards locked down tight unless there's an emergency. Sure a C'tan might help try and close the Rift, but it could just as easily not understand or not care about what it's being told to do, and it could instead go around inverting Pylons to expand the Rift instead.
What's more is that Shards themselves are not wholly invincible. The moment the Necrons and Eldar learn that one has gotten loose or, even worse, been enslaved by the Imperium, Calcazar will have multiple Craftworlds and Dynasties kicking down his door, and unlike Crudarach these are going to be gunning for all out war.
So at best Calcazar requires an unstable and highly dangerous pawn that can turn on him in an instant and cause untold damage to the Imperium, at worst most of the Koronus Expanse gets glassed by the galaxy's oldest heavy hitters.
>>714208447>Why would the first colonists not be already developed enough to not be feudalsocietal collapse during the Age of Strife
>>714208447People forgot to pass the information down
Natural disaster killed everyone competent
Someone decided Imperial dogma needed Feudalism
Come up with a reason yourself, it'll probably work
>>714207287Because George Warhammer would never allow for a shift in status quo. That's it, that's the only reason. Other than that Calcazar's plan, if it fails at the very least won't make things much worse. But if it suceedes it will be more beneficial to the imperium than robby waking up
>>714208850>"things can't possibly get any worse than this"This is probably engraved on the Golden Throne, or maybe the Emperor's actual bones
>>714208850No, that other guy is right, if you actually managed to pull it off you would be doomed to getting annihilated by the Necrons and Eldar who would move you way, way up on their priority target list, and no, the Koronus Expanse combined and united could not stop even one of the major players from either of those factions.
>>714209271>For the first time in over 60 million years the Eldar and Necrons team up specifically to smash Koronus into dust, all because of Calcazar
>>714207287>Can someone explain why Calcazar is wrong?I can't. There is honestly no reason to stop him, he is such an example of a "did nothing wrong" villain it actually kinda sucks in a way. Because even game struggles to come up with a reason why should you even bother follow him to stop his plans. Kinda like with Kreia in Kotor 2.
>Wouldn't a c'tan be able to close the great rift? This would seemingly suck for all creatures with soul. This used to be a natural state of the galaxy anyway and Necrons almost managed to sever connection of galaxy from the Warp which is why those Pylons were there around the Eye of Terror.
However back in Old Ones time Warp didn't suck like it does now with Chaos Gods

>>714210129>He thinks Koronus is the entire galaxyBuddy
Koronus is a footnote of a sector
If even one of the major Craftworlds gets involved (and it won't just be one) then every human planet in the Expanse is getting sent back to the stone age.
And if the Necrons get involved, it's going to reach either Imotekh or Szarekh, and in either of those cases you're better off braving the Warp without a gellar field.

If you think some OC Donut Steel craftworld Owlcat created just to blow up for a plot point represents the power of the Eldar in the 40K setting you understand nothing. You also don't seem to be aware that the Expanse itself is a pathetic backwater that virtually any faction including the T'au, who are a tiny, barely relevant joke, could overwhelm with ease if they felt like it.
Just make a RT anime already GW
>>714210841it'll be an isekai harem anime
>>714210487Buddy. The ctan plan is not to defend koronus. It's just a test run. If it succeedes and it does according to ending slide Calcazar plans on creating more yokes to protect the entire Imperium
>>714210672>OC Donut Steel craftworld Owlcat createNo, I'm actually talking about a craftworld, supported by the clowns coming after you in the ending slides, achieving nothing of value but having themselves and some humans killed and fucking off to lick their wounds.
>>714211051Those ending slides said the worlds of the expanse get devastated by the Eldar so yeah, not really seeing it, and that was just punitive raiding, not an all out assault. You seriously understand nothing of 40K if you think Calcazars plan succeeding would do anything but utterly doom the Expanse. Typical Inquisitor, really.
>Retards thinking the Eldar are capable ofndoing jack shit
I mean I can kinda see the Necrons maybe being an issue but the Eldar wouldn't even last a week. We already kniw Calcazar has a weapon that can casually obliterate craftworlds, and it would be no issue at all to use it again. Even then the Eldar themselves are laughably weak and would just beg for mercy once they realize they've lost 9/10ths of their force in one engagement with Calcazar.
>>714210812Any comparison pics?
The current one just looks weird
>>714211289>the worlds of the expanse get devastated?
Half a century later, the Expanse trembled to the echo of Aeldari war songs. Myriad warbands appeared out of nowhere, leaving a trail of bodies in their wake before disappearing into Webway Gates, masterfully hidden from the eyes of mon-keigh. The Children of Asuryan had come to avenge the death of the craftworld Crudarach. Their woeful retribution lasted many decades until both races were warworn and out of blood to spill.
>>714210919>isekaiBut why
>HaremObviously the lord captain should have both cassia and kibbles
>>714211571Ignore him. Eldar fans are delusional and think their NPC faction still matters.

>>714211571>Their woeful retribution lasted many decades until both races were warworn and out of blood to spill. The funny part is that this means the Eldar outright lost, because Humans will regain their casualties in a handful of years while the Eldar never will.
Space Elves stay losing.
>>714211571So it was a bunch of punitive raids, like I said.
>>714211901Even if you outright ignore the Eldar the Necrons are also going to come knocking. I get you guys want some kind of Yes Man ending where your PC is super powerful and overcomes all problems but the reality is the Expanse would be destroyed by multiple factions if the C'tan shard was used. Welcome to 40K, your little protagonist is just a tiny part of a much, much bigger overarching universe.

>>714212960You find out that Yrliet wasn't lying when she said she was actually trying to protect you from the real traitor, because the real traitor gets revealed
>>714212960It's still railroaded but it hits better. There's literally no reason to not kill Eldar on sight, they add nothing of importance to the story.
>>714213128>>714213116>>714213112>>714213027Alright, I'll kill her during the Janus rebel boss battle then after refusing her to join in this new run.
Yrliet is fucking insufferable at least Marazgay is entertaining
>>714213128Yrliet isn't even an Eldar, she's like some Human cosplaying as what they think an Eldar is or should be. I swear the writer who created her read absolutely nothing about how Eldar work in 40K before writing the character. Marazhais dialogue gives more insight on Craftworld Eldar than Yrliets does, for fucks sake. At least the guy who wrote him actually did their job.
>>714212560That's what I mean. Eldar can never win against any quickly breeding force. Zerg rush is a legitimate tactic whether they like it or not
Lorelet and INTlet here, can someone explain what the hell happens in the intro in Cumrag
Why is Marazhai punished by his superior or something despite bringing the Rogue Trader to her, why do they drop your still living body in a pit instead of killing you etc., what did they want with RT other than revenge for interefering with their plans?
>>714210397>He himself invited me to follow after him and lend him a hand.Once you already meet him in Necron tomb, yes. But at the end of act 4 there is no reason for you to pursue him the way dialogue and story tries to force you to do so. Those faction leaders at Footfall giving farewells to you and parting gifts as if you were going to battle some great evil felt retarded too.
>in the trilogy they are absolute badasses
>outside of the trilogy they get shit on by a dozen writers

>>714213749>Once you already meet him in Necron tomb, yes.No. When you go to Footfall again to confront him and he's not there his valet will relay a message from Calcazar in which he apologizes for keeping you in the darkness and gives you the coordinates where you can find him and invites you to follow him. You don't have to torutre the valet for that information in this case
>>714214224wtf? I was best buddy with him and got black signet and never got this option. I only could torture his valet or scare him with Heinrix. Was this added in some update?

>>714213649Marazhai brings you there specifically the set up the farcical "trial" and trick you into confessing to working with another drukhari (an enemy of his boss) to undermine drukhari operations in the expanse. It doesn't work so they punish him and throw you away since none of them care about you beyond the trial.
>>714209834I would if they automatically filled to specific slot types, a bit like the context menus you get in KOTOR
Having to put grenades back after using them is annoying
>>714213649Marazhai and his sister Yremryss constantly seethe at each other because that's what drukeks do. Marazhai wants to become an archon of the reaving tempest kabal, but for that to happen he needs to get rid of his sister. Why he can't just kill her during their weekly buttfuck sessions is anyone's guess, so he sets up an elaborate keikaku in which he organizes a kangaroo trial where he accuses his sister of working with you to undermine drukek operations in the expanse. Since you obviously don't work with her he drugs you up so that you agree with every accusation thrown at her (why he didn't just come to you and persuaded you to work with him is anyone's guess 2. Probably would be too easy for keikaku to work - those need to be elaborate). But, due to your OC donut steel powers you overcome the mindfuck parasite poison and completely ruin his plan. Which results in him getting punished for wasting everyone's time and you being thrown in the dumpster, because you're some literally who nobody cares about.
That's the gist of it. There's more to it but you'll learn the details later.

>>714229486No, literally nothing wrong happens again
>>714229640>has an interesting questlol
Man the Stolen Autogun you can get before Rykad really turns Argenta into a giga goddess early huh? Shit's insane and if you get the Agi on shot perk she gets invincible real quick. The 3AP burst is annoying tho.
>>714229789Wait till you get the heavy stubber.
>>714229789She's a firm believer in spray and pray.
>>714229789Just grab the Ripper burst gun from the same place, 8 ROF, 15 Recoil, decent damage, 2 AP cost so she can fire twice with Run and Gun on Turn 1, it's vastly better
I wish there were more Psyker disciplines
The amount of spells is so shitty even when compared to something like BG3

Every once in a while I try Meltas on Pasqal and get reminded that the lack of uniques until the second to last fight of the game is complete ass.
>>714238413You can become an unsanctioned psyker by picking psionic awakening as an examplar.
Can now confirm that Eagle Blind does not synergize with Idira, no 10% bonus damage from going after an enemy debuffed by Idira. I guess it's because the bird did the actual effect and is it's own unit.
Eagle is still op as hell though.
>>714239348That's only halfway through the game though and they've completely botched it with dlc experience gain.
>>714239750you must be hitting it before Cumrag with both DLCs at this point
What's it like playing with DLCs from the start compared to DLCs midgame? I've been putting this whole thing off until DLC was out but now there's another whole season pass wtf.
>Servo skull can activate the lift on Footfall for you before you'd normally be able to use it
Any other unique familiar interactions?
>>714240047Arbite DLC doesn't actually kick in til partway into act 2 and should be done around level 25 anyways so no point putting it off longer.
Void Shadows is a preference but imo you should check out the Chapel and Astropath room in Act 1 since the loot/xp there doesn't break the early game (only weapon is a power maul that's slightly better than the generic one) but the Train Line should be done sometime before you finish reclaiming your planets in Act 2 since doing it in act 1 will give you some overpowered gear and enough XP to kick Aurora to death with Tier 2 heroics.
>>714239816I'm currently doing dargonus raid and I'm already 3 levels into exemplar. It's stupid, bacause narratively unlocking psykic awakening right after commoragh was cool narratively since you've just experiences a huge mental and physical ordeal and that's what often triggers psychic powers in people.

So everyone just runs with
-RT Officer Servo Skull
-Pascal Eagle
-Jimmy Raven
-Solo Man Dog
right?
What do you think the companions for the next dlcs will be? Remember that the companion is packaged with a new origin that the RT must have access to, so xenos are automatically out.
