Combat in general in this game is terrible.

The main problem with RT is that the combat is fucking boring, even for a TB enjoyer like myself, because it doesn't feel like you're making decisions. What the combat feels most like, is a card game, where you can build your deck the way you want and always draw the same opening hand, with that opening hand always being a one-turn-victory. So every single fight is exactly the same, it doesn't even feel like playing a game.

They try to get around this by making fights with phases, or triggered immunities that force fights to take more than 1 round, but that's just lame.

There are too many ways to do a million damage in one turn in this stupid combat system. To make it even worse, building characters and leveling is fucking boring as well. We have all these hundreds of talents are not only extremely specific, but also completely fucking pointless; I don't even really level 4 of my companions after act 3, because they never get to do anything anyway. I just pick whatever talent happens to be at the top of the list and go with that, it literally doesn't matter.

The Pathfinder games are the same way; the combat is fucking boring, because you just do the same exact overpowered shit in every single fight. Just buff your OTK-guy and then OTK the entire screen. You got all these stats and talents and classes, and it doesn't matter; it's all a mirage, just completely pointless and a waste of your time to read or think about. The combat may as well only be there in these titles so that they don't get classified as point-and-click games.

No. It's a much lesser DLC than Void Shadows, the content is decent, but it's lesser in every way, both in playtime and scope. You would be better off waiting for the big combat balance patch they're doing soon, at least, and personally I would say it's best to hold off until the next season of DLC altogether to do a full replay. 40k's power scaling for psykers has essentially no limits , he's like a C tier psyker at most like most sanctioned psykers. Malcador could literally choke a primarch out when he felt pissy and teleport an entire moon in the warp and even he is mid. Keep in mind that the eldar at one point could use their psyker powers to construct literal gods as tools and the Emperor's powers are unbelievably powerful to the point here nobody really knows.

ive been playing the game by skipping through dialogue as fast as possible, moving around the game with the map open and just running through traps and healing afterwards, googling all the quest solutions, following other people's build guides etc.

i got to commoragh and just blew through it until the spire of the tempest where i found out that if i leave i leave behind heinrix and cassia which i didnt bother rescuing, nor the space marine i didnt recruit.

i cant leave the spire to go back down and my save games dont go back that far, so ive quit. im partially to blame, but at the same time, ive played like 30 hours and before now i havent come across something with as much finality as this, you take a flight up to the spire thanks to some dark eldar pilot, you would just assume they will be standing there ready to fly you back down too

I just played this for my whole day off, shit is really good. Reminds me a lot of Shadowrun Dragonfall but with a bit more production value. The level up system in this game is great too, it's frequent enough that you feel like you're making progress/building toward something but not so frequent they feel insignificant.

Things are always explained enough that you have some sort of idea what you're dealing with but very rarely are you given info from an all-knowing observer perspective.
A lot of terminology and some of the intricacies of the setting will probably fly way over your head when you first start playing but by the end of your playthrough you will have a good grasp on things

So belief on its own does nothing, it *has to* be backed by a sufficiently powerful and/or widespread physic energy, which is why the this phenomenon is the strongest with orks, who are genetically modified mushroom colonies that amplify each others' latent psionic radiation. The Cyber Raven is the only option that actually is the "best possible class choice" for a certain kind of character role, that being buff psyker. All of the other pets are just damage dealers, but they're way worse at dealing damage than just picking a different class. In terms of trying to make an optimized character, Raven is the only one that will ever have any value.

Just being able to easily cast Warp Speed on your entire party in one turn is very strong, and the other single target buffs aren't too bad either.

the way the DLC works is that it adds the new missions as part of the normal game progression sprinkled throughout the entire game. If you think you'll only play through the game once you should just get both DLC and play it all at once.

As for beginner tips, there are tons of broken builds and overpowered combos so just keep your eyes open and try to spot them. Be careful about spamming psyker powers too much or demons will appear and rape your ass unless you're good at managing the bar

Void Shadows is a must buy imo. Not only it includes two factions on your ship (Death Cults are rarely approached in the setting), but the whole investigation plot is interesting. It also extends your voidship to make you discover the life onboard, with different sectors.

The problem with iconoclast in this setting is that due to demons and witches being real, being too kind hearted can actually lead to an entire planet getting corrupted and millions of people being raped forever by demons. The protentional negative cost of a single act of mercy is absurdly disproportionally horrific.

Going full Iconoclast is extremely bad in this game. Just as one example, wasting time saving people on the planet instead of doing exterminatus results in a huge amount of people being sucked into the warp to become demonic fucktoys which is way worse than just dying. You overall increase human suffering a LOT if you go iconoclast in that case.

There are still plenty of times where it's the best choice, though. There are times where being merciful or kind is the best option with no downside and the dogmatic option is pretty much just killing someone for no reason.

Go Fortress World for Never Stop Shooting feature and due to the fact you can cast twice with Run & Gun it's a blast to play even from early Act 1

Maybe in another game I would really like him, but competition in this game is too strong among companions and he is another Dogmatic character at that, following Dogmatic character dlc which was Void Shadows. Should have been some Xeno already. Overseer archetype is great and sovlful as fuck with companions naming their pets, having new voice lines to order them, pets being used in skill checks etc, while not being just OP like Void Shadows did. New content like quests are always nice to have. New scenes in first act are fun, and well Judge Dredds are just cool in general. Minor thing, but one thing they changed is a fight leading to Aurora against cultists and now Arbites are joining you as reinforcements which is a cool sequence.

You have scenes of single warsuits taking out entire terminator squads. Farsight kills a greater daemon (of I think tzeench) with a recording device. Aurora is the most difficult encounter in the entire game if you take into account the level and available resources at the moment of the encounter. Nothing else in the game even comes close IMO, it's kind of a crazy difficulty spike to have so early in the game. The second most difficult encounter in the entire game is probably the demon at the start of the tutorial area.
A lot of your power in Rogue Trader are small benefits that stack on top of each other so your party becomes exponentially more powerful as the game goes on, so just the fact that these encounters are early is the main reason they're the hardest

If you miss some skill checks for example it will cockblock you out of it by a few XP
Especially the checks that give 20-30 XP, and some battles are missable like the Freight Line Vat Guards hidden behing a Lore Imperium check, or the stuff inside Footfall Cutist basement that's not require for the safe puzzle but still gives XP etc.
